sRGB difference and gaming

I was planning to upgrade my current laptop screen (see sig for specs) with a 120Hz laptop screen but Illegear warned me of three things which are:

1) 120Hz eDP panel has a reduced colour coverage (85% sRGB only compared to 100% on the IPS panel)

2) Reduced viewing angle

3) The brightness level will be constantly at 100%

My question is, would 75% sRGB be a huge difference to my current 100% sRGB screen?

Current screen: 15.6" Full HD Anti-glare Display IPS/AHVA sRGB 100% Color & Wide View (1920 x 1080)

Screen to upgrade: 15.6" Full HD Anti-glare 120Hz 5ms eDP Display with sRGB 85% (1920x1080)

Blocking ports for gaming

Hello all, so I am here trying to block ports on a RIGER-DB120WL. I am trying to block ports that are related to Dota2 since it is breaking the family apart. Too many gametime, less time spent studying, very irritable etc etc. So, what should i do to block access from the Dota2 client?

Hello sifus, I'm very new to building rigs here, so I have no idea what I'll be saying but bear with me on this one.

Okay, I am currently working as a designer for graphics and websites, as well as videography and rendering, so I don't think my personal laptop(spec in sig) could handle all that well since it's dated, plus it's a hassle bringing my laptop to office everyday. I just want a desktop to stay there.

Alright, my sub 1.5k build will be:

1) based on the GTX1050 bcs it's cheap, but if there's cheaper go ahead!
2) 1st hand or 2nd hand hardware dun mind
3) Maybe Xeon processor does well in keeping budget fit.
4) I have monitor/kb/mouse/mousepad edi so im fine with that

So, I've been going around the net, and I found this to be in range of what I need(I think) :

ASRock H97M
Asus GTX1050 Pheonix
....

And that's about it, since I don't know where to find a good processor/ram/storage/psu/casing which is value form oney in keeping my budget in check.

Your help will be fully appreciated since I'm very new to this, thank you so much in advance.

[WTA] Rig building around 1050

Currently I am working for a digital solutions company and many of my job involve editing photos and graphic design as well as rendering videos. So i was thinking of building a rig for my workstation for around 1k - 1.5k.

This rig might be powered by a GTX 1050 due to my budget so is there any good build revolving around a GTX 1050? Any suggestions? thanks sifu

USB Hubs

My laptop USB ports are almost dead. Out of 4 ports, only 2 are perfectly well, but I connect more than two devices to my laptop namely my mouse, my external keyboard, and my dongle for my wireless headset.

So I decided to buy a dongle so it could increase the number of ports available for me to use. Would it support plugging my keyboard, and my G502 mouse in one port through the USB hub?

Hello all, as we all know we are very avid gamers and hence our mousepad can get dirty very quickly.

I was wondering if you guys know a way to clean mouse pad which has started to accumulate dust, daki and dirt etc. I want to ask your opinions and experiences in cleaning mousepads,
Pls dont say buy new one bcs got no money already.

My mousepad is a Steelseries QcK.

Random DNS error

Hello all, my laptop keep having random 'no internet' situation at times. Sometimes the line runs fine but randomly it has a yellow triangle. I used the troubleshooter and it says 'the DNS server is not responding.

It takes a few minutes for it to get internet like normal but it interrupts gaming. My family's laptops and computers never have the problem while conncted to our home internet, only mine. I'm running windows 10.

I hope theres a fix for this problem as it is ruining my rank haha. Thanks all!

Asus G53J probs

Hey guys and sifus.

My Asus laptop has an intermittent problem with the keyboard. Sometimes, certain buttons doesnt work. Where can I get a replacement?

Next, my right fan (GPU fan) has a whirring/grinding sound, as if the fan isn't smooth. Im just scared that it wouldnt cool the GPU as effective. Any fixes?

WTA for future gaming rig

Hello all sifus and friends. I was wondering, with a budget of around 5k, is it better to opt for a gaming desktop or a gaming laptop? Mobility might be a small issue in this case. So what is better?

If laptop I don't think specs are gonna be so good. If desktop, the specs in mind are as follows

Budget: 5k
Proc: i7 3.4Ghz or higher, or anything that handles the following GPU best whilst overclocking when needed
GPU: GTX 980
RAM: 12GB or higher
HDD: 2TB or higher
PSU:
Monitor: At least 20" FHD

Hopefully this rig is possible with the budget stated, thanks sifuus!

Nvidia driver problem

Hello sifu, this one day suddenly my laptop screen got all this artifacts and pink dots and green lines all over the screen. And the driver keeps keeps crashing and restarting.

And every time I try to boot a game, the game crashes and the error balloon pops up.

I've attached a pic of the error balloon.

Specs are

Intel i7 Q740 1.73GHz
RAM 6GB
Nvidia Geforce GTX 460m
Driver version 340.52

How to create a mock website

Hello guys, I've read the forum rules up there and I know I couldn't post a 'worth it or not thread'.

But here's my question. My laptop's screen went kaput the other day at my college, so, in a rush to do assignments I sent it to a local laptop shop inside my campus, and I went for a screen replacement.

Total cost including worksmanship was RM380, originally it was RM450. I felt this was slightly a bit over the top for me, but is it the standard price for a 15.6 inch, glossy, 1366x786 resolution screen replacement?

Just want to know I got scammed or what.

Servicing an Asus G53Jw

Hello ladies and gents. So, I've got myself a problem.

I've bought an Asus G53Jw off a friend in hopes of using it for vid/photo editing plus some gaming. I had a pretty low budget for a powerhouse. Lately after some gaming I noticed the GPU temp would reach up to 90 degrees and I know that is truly bad for components inside, so I took a vacuum cleaner and sucked and blowed the vents at the back with hopes of getting the dust loose from the heat sinks and it did quite the job. Dropping around 5 degrees of peak and idle. Highest temp now is 85 degrees and idle is around 50.

But honestly, that isn't much, and I thought of repasting it which seemed to be the exact problem.

The Asus G53jw design is so complicated that you need to be a brain surgeon to simply clean the heatsinks.

How do I open this without destroying it? I have searched almost the whole internet for disassembly guides but alas I'm not in luck. Is a cokia brand thermal compound such as Vztech would suffice or should I buy something like Arctic Silver/IC Diamond/Noctua or anything that's considered good by the people

So sifus, and owners of this model, I would like to ask your experience on this matter and hopefully I could help my laptop before anything bad happens to it.

EDIT- After playing Tomb Raider, it did touch 91 degrees, but airflow is better on the GPU vent.

Hello guys. I've never been to these parts of the forums, always been to the computer sections je. I've searched these forums for a comparison on both and I don't think I've found a direct comparison.

Here's the question. So, my father is looking to invest in an MPV since my siblings are all growing and the old sedans seems to be tin sardin already when everyone is home. So, he narrowed down the choices between two, an Estima or an Innova, but there's a catch.

A recon Estima or a first hand Innova. Which one is better in terms of value for money such as the upkeep, build quality, fuel economy, and such?

Please be noted I'm still much a noob in these buying cars since I'm just 19 and I can't find anywhere better to ask this question, in fact I don't know much what to ask so please guide me. Thanks sifus!

WTA a suggestion for gaming setup

Hello again sifus and friends! I have another question from a friend I couldn't answer and decided to forward the Q here.

Which one is better, a gaming laptop or a gaming desktop? I suggested him the gaming desktop setup but my friend is quite afraid of the desktop since he has bad experiences with software issues but I told him that a properly setup rig would return no such thing, and now he's considering of a desktop setup as well.

He has a budget of 2.5k and is quite rigid his budget. He's looking for a fairly decent setup, med-high specs perhaps? Maybe a small tower as well.

EDIT- Suggestions for gaming laptops at that price (although very unlikely) are welcome as well.

Hello friends and sifus. I'm very new to PC gaming so there's so much basics that I haven't discovered yet.

For instance, what are the differences between the brands in GPU of the same series like there's an Nvidia GTX 770, then there's a Gigabyte GTX 770 and alsi an MSi GTX 770. Same goes to the new GTX 980. I see Nvidia GTX980 and there is also Asus Strix GTX980.

So, what's this differences between these GPUs?

Debit card and Origin

So, I've planned to pay for Titanfall and BF4 on Origin but every time I checkout, I get error codes mainly 10048 and 10049. I could use the same card on Steam to top up my wallet. But never on Origin. What's the matter?
