Hey guys,

I'm planning to build up a new desktop within a budget of 3k. I've been out of touch with hardware for quite sometime (last rig I built was running a AMD 3200) so I'd really appreciate more updated input from you guys. I'm basically going to be using it for daily office/school work also some occasional gaming/photoshop/video editing

hey guys, could you suggest me a software that will allow me convert my laptop and speaker set into a mini PA system? basically i'm trying to get whatever i say on a microphone hooked up to my laptop to come out through the speakers. I've tried tweaking audio options but it wouldn't work. Thanks!

T8300 vs. T9300

hi guys, i'll be heading to US in two weeks but I'm ordering my Dell XPS M1330 tomorrow from the US Dell website so that it will reach there by the time I arrive. I'm still torn on whether should I choose a T8300 or add US$53 (RM180) to upgrade to a T9300. Is the extra 100MHz and 3MB cache going to make a difference that justifies RM180? I do a lot of multi-tasking though like opening multiple websites, running microsoft office, playing music and MSN simultaneously and I might be using it for AutoCAD too.

recommended graphics card

hi guys, i'm configuring two computers to be used for graphic design. could you guys recommend to me what graphics cards to use? one within RM350-RM400 and one between RM450-RM550. I'm thinking of an 8600GT and 9600GT for both price ranges, XFX perhaps but do you guys have any comment or suggestions? Thanks! Greatly appreciate any help.

ac adapter for Creative I-Trigue L3500

hi guys, at the moment I'm using a generic 2000mA 12V adapter for my Creative I-Trigue L3500. Although the rating is 13.5V at the port on the back, it seems to work just fine. However, I'll be going to the US in September and my current adapter wont work there since it only supports 240V. I've been looking around at adapters on amazon.com and although I didn't find any Creative adapters that have an output of 13.5V, I did find one for a Samsung DVD player rated at 13.5V and 1000mA that supports 100-240V. Would it be alright if I used that?

What happens if I use just a standard 12 AC/DC adapter that's only 1000mA?

I'm no electrical engineer but I do know that current x power = watts so is it alright to use a slightly lower voltage rating and compensating it with higher current?

java programs can't access gprs

hi guys. i'm currently using a nokia 6233 and i just downloaded the gmail app from the gmail website for it. i've already configured my gprs and mms settings and i can use the built-in web browser to surf the net and access google, etc. however, wheneven i try to use java programs such as the gmail app or opera mini, it says that i can't connect to the internet. any way to solve this problem? thanks!

Hi guys, what brand of 8600GT would you guys recommend? I've only used XFX and Winfast before this and they've both served me quite well.

I'm considering either Asus, XFX, Gigabyte or MSI so which one would you recommend?

By the way, Galaxy seems to have pretty good value for money but is it reliable enough?

recommendation for RM2.5k desktop

Hi guys, I have this configuration in mind for a budget of about RM2.5k so please advise me on what I should change or add or minus. I'll be using it to surf the Internet and for Photoshop and Illustrator and I'll be multi-tasking too.

Proposed Configuration
Processor: Intel C2D E8400
Motherboard: Gigabyte P35-DS3
RAM: 2 X 1GB Kingston 667
Graphics Card: 256MB/512MB GeForce 8600GT
Harddisk: 250GB Seagate SATA II
Optical Drive: Pioneer 18X SATA
PSU: COOLER MASTER EXTREME 460W
LCD: 19" BENQ G900W WIDE

The main questions I have however is:

i) Is the INTEL C2D E8400 good? And even though it has 6MB of cache why is it cheaper then the INTEL C2D E6850 with only 4MB of cache?

ii) What brand of graphics card for the 8600GT would you recommend? Should I get 256MB or 512MB for a 19" LCD? Or should I go for ATI instead? I've been using nVidia all my life so I haven't really been up to date if there are any ATI cards that are in the same class as 8600GT but give better value for money.

iii) Will the COOLER MASTER EXTREME 460W provide adequate power? Or should I choose a different model and brand? I've only used AcBel and CollerMaster before and they both seem pretty good so far

iv) Is the BENQ G900W WIDE good because I've never used BenQ products before. If not, what monitor would you recommend me to get?
