Dilemma - To Report Accident?

Hi.

This happened along KL-Seremban-Selatan Highway, it was slightly raining at the time.

I was in the middle lane trying 'motong' towards the right lane. I was going 100km at the time (limit that area 110km).

Then I slowly moveover to the right lane when other car on the right lane was speeding up from behind (looked like a faster than me).

I saw it getting closer to me and moveback to middle lane.

That car did emergency brake, skid forward crashing the the right side of the road (beam).

Our cars did not crash/hit each other.

I panicked and didn't stop & drove off.

I didn't stop at the scene or reported to the police.

I'm not even sure if the passengers lived or died after that crashed.

What's my status? Will I be summoned/arrested?

Looking for free Windows CE Sofware for GPS unit

Hi All.

I just bought a GPS Unit (GioGio).

It has built in operating system (what's it called I dunno!) plus a link to Windows Embedded CE 6.0. There is preinstalled PDF, MS Word & Excel reader in CE.

The playback of videos in it's operating system is terrible and there is no media player in the Windows CE side. The JetCet PDF reader is alway hard to use.

I wanna know where can I download myself a better mediaplayer & PDF reader to use in CE (using my computer) and install it onto the GPS SD Card?
Also looking for games to install in CE.

My GPS specs:
MEDIATEK MT3351
INTERNAL MEMORY 128MB
Display 800x480 (7" screen)

Couple of Questions

Q1. If I only wanna use Digi mobile internet only for YM chatting using Android application on my phone (not thru browser), how much kb will this consume for 1hr of chatting?

Q2. There's a Digi 250MB/wk for RM15 plan at the moment. If I don't use up all 250MB in a week (7 days), can this be carried forward in the following week subscription?

I just changed my operating system from XP to Windows 7 32bit.

I tried connecting to Streamyx, got connection (using username & password ok) but can't browse (NIL DL & UL).

Can Streamyx be used with W7 after all?

If you can, give me the steps from establishing a new connection.

Early Stages of dating

Hi.

If at early dating stage but still not as bf/gf couple:
- should I be ready to meet her friends (co workers, old school pals, etc) and
- should I introduce her to mine?

There's a girl that I like and we've known each other for about a month.
We've gone out on dates and chat online/sms.

She mentioned that we are just friends at the moment and need to know each other more for her to be sure I'm 'the one' for her.

During that time, she mentioned that she maybe she would like me to meet her friends and even siblings.

I feel reluctant because I'm too 'malu' as she's this great girl and all I am to her now is just kawan.

It's like feeling people saying to me 'ha-ha you're just kawan coz you can't tackle her heart and not good enough to be bf'.

The same goes if she wants to meet people I know on my side.

Exception: I don't mind seeing her parents or introduce her to mine.

I can't hold her hand or put my arms around her, which is what I really wanna do.

I haven't tried but don't dare yet coz we're still in that hell you call 'FriendsZone'.

However, if she green-light me and agrees to be my gf, I would have no shame at all to meet her side/her meet mine.

It's just that I'm not sure she could fall for me and it would be embarassing (especially towards friends on my side) that I failed to WOO her at all in the future.

Or worse .. she later confronts me and says I'm just a friend PERIOD or she falls for another guy.

Am I'm being too Egotistic/Paranoid?

P.S. I think a woman invented that 'FriendsZone' and that 'we are just friends at the moment and need to know each other more' line because no guy would say that to a girl!

Early stages of dating

Hi.

What kind of flowers you forumers recommend for a guy to give a girl during early stages of dating?

Do I just give a single flower or bouquet?

How much per bouquet ? Also, what quantity?

Thus, this is not for a 'g/f' but a girl that I just started going out with.

How frequent to give flowers when dating? Assume we date only 3 or 4 times a month.

The message I wanna give is I like her and I wanna be more than 'kawan' with her.

Are roses too early at this stage? If she later becomes my g/f, of coz I would get roses but this is just early days.

Should I get her a cute cuddly toy/chocolates too or just the toy/chocs and skip flowers till later dates?

Hi.

I'm just wondering for a private company with about 30 branches/outlet nationwide, what accounting standards are they expected to follow?

Are the standards optional or compulsory in the legal and audit sense, especially ones related to fixed assets and maintenance expenses?

Is the company expected to follow Malaysian standards only, or also include International Standards, UK GAAP, US GAAP etc?

Me confused.

I'm thinking of getting a media player that can connect to an external DVD drive via usb and be used like a normal DVD player with it's remote control to watch regular DVDR movies (with VIDEO_TS contents ,etc).

Any cheap ones out there?

I don't need wifi/torrenting/online video streaming.

Hi all.

If I buy a mobile phone in the UK while travelling there, can I use my Malay Maxis SIM card for that phone?

I wasn't sure because I seen some websites say they sell SIM FREE phones in UK. So these operate without SIM cards?

Alternatively, can I buy a UK SIM card to use in my Malay Nokia phone when visiting in UK so that UK numbers can call me easier?
Are foreigners/visitors allowed to sign up to a network mobile there?

Also, how many mobile phone network are available in UK? We got Maxis, Digi, Celcom, UMobile, etc.

Modeo RMVB HDD Media Player MR55A

Hi.

I bought this Modeo at a shop in LYP model MR55A & I think it's not an ORI. It's the big one where you can fit a 2.5 HDD in it (don' t have one yet!).

Here's why:
- No Factory warranty card in the box (but box/manual makes no comment if there should be one + the shop gives 3 months warranty if anything goes wrong)
- Screenshots of OSD/Menus looks nothing like the box shows (actual shots looks more like NBOX/DIYOMATE with short character file names but with Modeo logo at start up)
- Booklet given in box is for previous Modeo model with pics of different set/remote

However, all other contents in the box looks complete. Tested VOB, AVI & MPG, all looks/plays ok though.

Can anyone advise me & comment? I feel like I've been conned.

Ripping DVD movie & external subtitles

Not sure if this has been fully answered yet in this forum.

I plan to buy a RMVB / HDD Media player (which exact one I dunno!).

So what software do I need to:
a) rip the movie as a media file (whether AVI, MPEG1/2/4 or RMVB)
b) rip the subtitles for that movie (SUB, SRT, etc) [I don't want burnt-in subs!]
c) Which codecs I should use when ripping the movie (give Settings details)?
d) Can the ripped subtitles contain special characters e.g. Italic fonts or musical notes?

I assume (a) & (b) uses different software [I need at least 2, right?]

I heard some software produce unsynch video/audio.

There are so many of these players out there so I need help with choosing one.

These criterias are very important:

- Can take USB pen drive externally
- Can play MPEG1/VCD, MPEG2, MPEG4, DIVX, DVD files [like VIDEO_TS folder + its contents], AVI (whatever codecs), Realvide
o, FLV (Youtube type), MOV (QT)
- Comes with a "Decent" remote control with English text on it, English manual & English menus on screen
- Video plays in synch with Audio (assuming that it plays ok too on the pc)
- Supports external subtitles ripped from a suitable ripper

I prefer to install IDE/SATA HDDs up to 1TB NTFS inside the player (most I seen take 2.5 HDD only in or externally) but willing to consider 2.5 HDD up to 500GB. I don't think you can get 1TB external HDD without using a power unit, right? I just wanna use 1 power unit & that's for the player!

5.1 audio would be great but 2.0 is ok too.

So you do lot know any brand/model that might be best for me?

Pictures of the items are welcome for this thread & state its retail price out there.

IS it true that you can't convert/reformat a pendrive from FAT32 to NTFS ?

I can't transfer a file that's almost 5GB to my 8GB pendrive, and it's too big ro burn on a 4.36GB DVDR/W.

Saving Electricity for Laptop users

Hi.

I decided to get am ACER laptop (Centrino Core2Duo, 2GB RAM) as I'll be moving plus I was jackking up the TNB bill with a P4 desktop.

During weekdays, I use the desktop for about 6-8hrs per day while more than than at weekends (12hrs++ per day!). I mostly use it for internet / P2P stuff. Also use it for recording with my TV tuner card & video editing.

So with my laptop, what advice can you lot give me about saving more on the TNB bill?

Best Broadband for South KL ?

I will be moving near the Kampung Dato Harun KTM station (between Subang Jaya & Petaling really) soon which will have no fixed line. It's NOT a kampung, it's a residential area.

I want to know what's the best home internet service available for me?

A few points.

As my username implies, I'm a P2P freak & I want a service that :
- doesn't limit / throttle Torrents / Ed2k, FTP,etc
- let's me use CRapidshare as free member without getting "Same IP problems" as others
- doesn't require a fortune for one off payments like modems, reg fee, activation fee, etc!

As I got no fixed line, wireless modem might be the only option but will get a fixed line if all wireless net sucks!

I will mostly use the net at home, not intended to use it outside where I live.

I prefer no contract service or no more that 1 year contract.

I have an ACER laptop, not desktop.
I don't have a 3G/EDGE phone.

Do I stick with Streamyx or is there something better:
- NetLynx (not in my area I think)
- Jaring
- Anything else.
