[WTA] Installing Rig

Long story short, I'm trying to install my new CPU and I come to a steps saying

"Apply Thermal Paste/Tape over the CPU, then install Heatsink/Fan over it"

The Processor is Intel Xeon E3-1230 v2... I see there some neatly cut tape apply under the heatsink, is that the thermal tape?

Shoulda let the professional do it but I wanna get to know my pc better! >_<''

Edit: I'm a ViewNet fanboy (just convenient to shop there lol)

Greetings! I have compiled a list of upgrades for my 5yo rig and hopefully Sifus here could help me clear up some of my concerns. Any comments and recommendation are highly appreciated!

1. Will the reuse part will be sufficient and compatible to support the new Rig? Im worry the casing will not fit or PowerSupply are insufficient to power up.

2. Do I need to add cooling system even without OverClock?

3. Do OverClock able to squeeze extra year of usage time? or it simply would strain the pc overtime?

[Budget]
Less than RM2500, may able to squeeze a little more for needed parts (cooling, PSU)

[Purpose]
Work: photoshop, Flash, video editing, UDK, 3DMax, Unity3D
Game: GTAV(fingercross!), Battlefield 3, Black Ops 2, Dishonored, Skyrim
(hoping the rig able to handle GTAV smoothly, would entertain me for years!)

[Current Rig]
Processor: Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 @ 3.00GHz
Motherboard: Gigabyte EP43-UD3L
RAM: 4GB DDR2
GPU: Nvidia GeForce 9800GT

[Reusing]
Monitor: BenQ HP L1740 (1400x900@60Hz)
OS: Microsoft Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit SP1
PSU: CoolerMaster 500W
HDD: 500GB Western Digital
Casing: CoolerMaster Centurion
DVD/Writer: Standard

[Replacing]
Processor: Intel i5-3570 (RM624)
Motherboard: Asus P8Z77-M (RM339)
RAM: 8GB Kingston DDR3-1600 (RM124)
GPU: Leadtek GTX670 (RM1099)
SSD: 120GB Intel 330 (RM309)

Uppin' the RAM(memory)

Here I have an Asus K42Jv (Corei5 M450 @ 2.4Ghz with 4096MB RAM)

Im thinking of upgrading the ram as I do some heavy stuff with Photoshop or texturing from time to time, and occasionally gaming.

So im wondering, is there imrpovement upping the ram for my laptop aside the faster processing for photoshop i heard from some websites? if so, will 2x 4GBkingston PC3-10600 DDR3-133 do the trick?
