Which string to pluck first?

Salam and good night/morning.

I started learning the guitar recently. I know chords and how to strum but I was wondering, how do you know which string to pluck while playing a chord? I wanted to play a certain song but it's by fingering, not by struming. Unfortunately I get confused on which string I should pluck first and so on. I tried googling the matter but for some reason I kept on finding sources that tells you to use your thumb for the bass strings and the other three fingers (not including pinky) for the 3rd-1st strings. I knew this already and I still can't get an explanation on which string to start. Do help me out if you could ok?

So I switch on my laptop and the Windows XP loading screen doesn't show up. It's stuck there. Just this blank, black screen no matter how long I wait for it. I read somewhere that it might be because of some virus, which is not impossible since I'm not using any antivirus (I know, I know). Problem is, my HDD isn't partitioned and I really really need those pictures in my HDD. I was wondering, since everything's still there, is it possible for me to install XP into an external HDD, boot my laptop using the external HDD, get those files and then reformat my laptop (adding partitions along the way). I really need those pictures and I know it's my fault I didn't install an antivirus. I kept delaying it since I haven't got an internet connection in my dorm room..

Wondering which one you guys think is the best out there. Need some help. Considering on getting one. The Sony Ericsson W950 seems cool enough. What do you guys think? Thx.
