Car accident

Hi All,
Would like check whether it is norm for insurance co to only cover the cost of 1 tow truck ? Met an accident and insurance co assigned a tow car service co to tow my car.
After everything was settled, i was told by the tow car guy to pay him for 500+ as he said 3 tow trucks involved for my car accident to tow my car from drain side. i have called my insurance co to confirm whether this is true and was told by insurance co that this sum of money has to be settled between myself and the tow guy bcos insurance co doesnt cover the cost of the 2nd and 3rd tow truck. Question is do i deal this directly with the tow guy and pay him the 500+ and close the case or no such thing as i have to pay for the money requested by the tow guy?
