need help: about portfolio

i just got an offer letter from sheffield university...n i hv to do a portfolio of artworks. the letter mentioned:

"The portfolio should consist of an edited selection of your work of not more than 10 images that demonstrate your individuality, creativity and curiosity and, preferably, it should cover a variety of representation techniques. The size of each image file should not exceed 500kb and acceptable formats are gif, jpg and pdf. If you compose your images into one file using word processor, presentation or desktop publishing software please bear in mind that we can only accept Microsoft Word or PowerPoint and Acrobat PDF formats. The total size of the portfolio you submit should be 5Mb or less.

The images need to be emailed to portfolios@sheffield.ac.uk by Friday, 23rd January 2009. Please get in touch if you feel you might struggle to meet this deadline.

The selection team is particularly interested in how you observe, interpret and represent the world around you and also in any creative output that you feel says something strong about you.

The content of the portfolio should be chosen to show the selection team what is unique and original about you. Previous successful applicants have included a variety of work including drawing (any technique), painting, pottery, joinery, embroidery, street art, model making, graphics, sculpture, building, craftwork and so forth. Please do not assume that the content needs to be concerned with buildings or architecture in any form.

One of your 10 images should be dedicated to representing your street in a medium of your choice, accompanied by short piece of text (maximum 200 words) to complement it. The text and the visual material of this assignment should be imaginative and original."

just want to ask u guys, what's da most suitable thing to put inside a portfolio? i mean, what is the best combination of artwork shud i put? shud i do pencils, or watercolour more, or i shud put every single medium that i know inside?

i hope that i can get advice on how to do a nice portfolio. n yeah, btw what is da meaning of 'representing your street' in the last paragraph there? does it mean 'ability' or something? i look thru the dictionary, but i'm not very sure.

thanks.
