Windows 11 Version 26H1 - UNTOUCHED

Microsoft has just released the first Windows 11 version 26H1 preview build to Insiders in the Canary Channel, however the company says this isn't going to be released as the next feature update for Windows 11. Instead, version 26H1 exists as a means for Microsoft to bring up support for upcoming next-gen silicon.

"26H1 is not a feature update for version 25H2 and only includes platform changes to support specific silicon. There is no action required from customers," Microsoft says in the blog post announcing version 26H1.

What this really means remains unclear, but it sounds like version 26H1 might only ship on upcoming next-gen Qualcomm Snapdragon X2 and NVIDIA N1X powered devices next year. Additionally, Microsoft says that primary feature development will continue to take place on top of version 25H2, and new features will be realeased first for Insiders in the Dev and Beta Channels, at least for now.

- Windows 11, version 26H1 is a scoped release
- Windows 11, version 26H1 will only be available on new devices with select new silicon as they come to market in early 2026.
- Windows 11, version 26H1 is not offered as an in-place update from Windows 11, version 24H2 or 25H2 on existing devices.
- There is no impact to devices already in market today.
- Devices running Windows 11, version 26H1 will continue receiving monthly updates for security, quality, and new features, the same as devices running Windows 11, versions 24H2 and 25H2.
- Devices running Windows 11, version 26H1 will not be able to update to the next annual feature update in the second half of 2026. This is because Windows 11, version 26H1 is based on a different Windows core than Windows 11, versions 24H2 and 25H2, and the upcoming feature update. These devices will have a path to update in a future Windows release.
- Windows 11, version 26H1 does not support hotpatch updates.
- Windows 11, version 26H1 security updates will be manageable through typical tooling – Windows Autopatch, Microsoft Intune, Microsoft Configuration Manager, etc.

This approach allows Windows to support the development of new hardware capabilities while protecting the stability and predictability that commercial customers rely on in production environments.

Tommy Lee Jones' Daughter Victoria Dies Aged 34

The former Men In Black II child star, who briefly followed in her famous father’s footsteps when she was younger, was reportedly found dead in a luxury hotel in the early hours of New Year’s Day. The San Francisco Fire Department responded to a call for medical aid at the Fairmont San Francisco at 2:52am on Thursday. They carried out an assessment and pronounced one person dead at the scene, but a cause of death is currently unknown.

‘A white female around her mid-30s was found unresponsive and the hotel staff was alerted,’ a source told the Mail. ‘CPR was done, but she was pronounced deceased by the emergency/ambulance crew that responded to the scene.’

The outlet reports that the woman was Victoria, while TMZ has revealed the San Francisco Police Department took over the scene. A spokesperson for the SFPD told the Mail: ‘On 1/1/26 at approximately 3:14 a.m., San Francisco Police officers responded to a hotel located on the 900 block of Mason street regarding a report of a deceased person.

‘At the scene, officers met with medics, who declared the adult female deceased. The Medical Examiner arrived on scene and conducted an investigation. Anyone with information is asked to contact the SFPD at 415-575-4444 or Text a Tip to TIP411 and begin the message with SFPD.’

Jones had Victoria and her 42-year-old brother Austin with second wife Kimberlea Cloughley, who he was married to between 1981 and 1996. Before she reached her teens, she had a small role in 2002’s Men In Black II, and had a few projects in 2005 before stepping away from the acting world. She played an immigrant in The Three Burials of Melquiades Estrada, and a victim of a mugging in Sorry, Haters. Her final on-screen role, also in 2005, was as a cheerleader in an episode of teen drama One Tree Hill.

Dua buah kereta yang terbakar adalah jenis Perodua Myvi yang musnah 90 peratus, manakala Toyota Vios sebanyak dua peratus. Penolong Pengarah Operasi Bomba Selangor, Ahmad Mukhlis Mukhtar berkata, pihaknya menerima panggilan kecemasan pukul 9.25 malam dengan empat anggota termasuk pegawai dari Balai Bomba dan Penyelamat Telok Panglima Garang bergegas ke lokasi kejadian. Katanya, bomba yang tiba 12 minit kemudiannya mendapati dua buah kereta telah terbakar.

“Kebakaran berjaya dipadamkan pihak bomba dan tiada mangsa terlibat dalam insiden itu. Punca dan jumlah kerugian dalam masih siasatan,” katanya hari ini.

22.12.2025 - Mahkamah Majistret membebaskan penyanyi kontroversi Wee Meng Chee atau lebih dikenali sebagai Namewee, daripada pertuduhan menggunakan dadah. Majistret S Arunjothy membuat keputusan itu selepas Timbalan Pendakwa Raya Amritpreet Kaur Randhawa memaklumkan mahkamah keputusan ujian air kencing Wee menunjukkan hasil negatif. Beliau turut berkata pihak pendakwaan menarik balik pertuduhan berkenaan terhadap Wee. Peguam Wee Joshua Tay kemudian memohon mahkamah mengeluarkan perintah pelepasan dan pembebasan sepenuhnya terhadap anak guamnya.

“Dengan keputusan ujian yang negatif, tiada lagi asas untuk mendakwa beliau semula,” katanya.

Mahkamah seterusnya membenarkan permohonan itu dan membebaskan Wee sepenuhnya daripada pertuduhan berkenaan. Sebelum ini, Wee mengaku tidak bersalah terhadap dua pertuduhan mengikut Seksyen 39A(1) dan 15(1)(a) Akta Dadah Berbahaya yang berkaitan dengan pemilikan dan penggunaan dadah. Kes berkaitan pemilikan dadah yang dihadapinya dijadualkan untuk sebutan semula pada 19 Jan tahun depan.

Wee ditahan 22 Okt lalu di sebuah hotel di ibu negara selepas polis menemui sembilan pil biru yang disyaki dadah jenis ekstasi di dalam bilik penginapannya. Polis sebelum ini mendakwa ujian awal menunjukkan beliau positif amphetamine, methamphetamine, ketamine dan THC, sebelum didakwa di mahkamah dua hari kemudian. Selain itu, pemuzik berkenaan juga pernah ditahan bagi membantu siasatan berhubung kematian pempengaruh Taiwan, Hsieh Yun Hsin, namun dibebaskan dengan jaminan sementara menunggu laporan toksikologi dan bedah siasat.

Apple Intelligence is still universally considered underwhelming, but what I like about Apple's approach is that the company is not trying to shove it down your throat. If you do not want it, you can turn everything off with a single toggle. Sadly, that is not possible with Microsoft. Even though many features and experiences are opt-in, you cannot get rid of everything, and AI-powered features often feel unnecessary or in your face. Given that Microsoft is not willing to make its operating system less annoying in this regard, enthusiasts are taking the matter into their own hands.

A new script published on GitHub promises to remove all the AI stuff in Windows 11 with a single click. All you have to do is run a command and then tick everything that you want to see gone. Of course, using apps like this is always a risky affair, so back up important data before proceeding.

Debloating Windows 11 with third-party tools is always a cat-and-mouse game where users remove something, and Microsoft then finds another way to undo the damage. Therefore, be ready to perform "cleanup" maintenance if you decide to go this route by running it again if Microsoft restores some or all via an update (there is also a toggle to revert changes). While the approach is not perfect (besides being a chore, you have to trust the maker of the app of choice), it is still a good option for those who cannot leave Windows, regardless of how much Microsoft tries to ruin it with buggy updates and bloat.

TikTok Akhirnya Di Jual Dengan 80% Saham Di Pegang Firma Amerika Syarikat

Saga penjualan perniagaan TikTok di Amerika Syarikat akan berakhir pada 22 Januari depan selepas Bytedance bersetuju menjual majoriti pegangan saham syarikat kepada beberapa firma Amerika Syarikat. Menurut Reuters, Bytedance hanya akan memegang 19.9% saham sementara 50% lagi dipegang konsortium terdiri daripada Oracle, Silver Lake dan MGX. Baki 30.1% pula dipegang oleh sekutu pelabur sedia ada tertentu ByteDance.

Menerusi memo yang tertiris, algoritma TikTok di Amerika Syarikat akan dilatih semula menggunakan data pengguna tempatan bagi memastikan “ia tidak dimanipulasikan oleh pihak luar”. Proses latihan semula ini akan dipantau oleh Oracle. Walaupun keselamatan data pengguna Amerika dijadikan sebab TikTok perlu dijual, ramai melihat penggunaannya sebagai platform mendedahkan genosid di Palestin menjadi pemangkin arahan dikeluarkan pentadbiran Biden yang pro-Israel.

Presiden Biden mengeluarkan arahan eksekutif memaksa Bytedance menjual TikTok tahun lalu kerana didakwa mendatangkan risiko sekuriti kepada rakyat Amerika Syarikat. Perkhidmatan tergendala sehari dan aplikasi dibuang daripada App Store dan Google Play bagi memenuhi arahan ini. Kemudian TikTok dibenarkan kembali beroperasi oleh Presiden Trump dengan beliau memberikan beberapa lanjutan kepada tempoh akhir jualan sebanyak beberapa kali. Microsoft Released KB5072537, KB5071416, KB5072543 Windows 11 Setup & Recovery Updates

This past week, Microsoft released the December 2025 Patch Tuesday updates for Windows 11 (KB5072033, KB5071417) and Windows 10 (KB5071546, KB5071544, KB5071543). The new Windows 11 25H2 and 24H2 updates are also being pushed via the Media Creation Tool. The company also announced that it was beginning to roll out Windows 11 25H2 to all supported user PCs including on Windows 10. Microsoft explained how this could be done by switching a toggle. Microsoft released corresponding new dynamic updates too alongside the Patch Tuesday updates. For those who may not know, dynamic updates bring improvements to the Windows Recovery process in the form of Windows Recovery Environment (WinRE) updates, which are also called Safe OS updates. The dynamic updates also affect the Setup file binaries in the form of Setup updates.

These Dynamic Update packages are meant to be applied to existing Windows images prior to their deployment. These packages include fixes to Setup.exe binaries, SafeOS updates for Windows Recovery Environment, and more. Dynamic Updates also help preserve Language Pack (LP) and Features on Demand (FODs) content during the upgrade process. VBScript, for example, is currently an FOD on Windows 11 24H2. Both setup and recovery updates were released this time. Microsoft writes:

Microsoft Makes Potential CPU, RAM, Disk Hogging Feature Default On Windows 11 25H2, 24H2

Microsoft earlier today announced that it is bringing a major performance boost to Server 2025 systems with a new native feature that will immensely boost storage and related speeds by up to 80%. Microsoft today also confirmed that it is now going to be enabling a Windows system service by default, and quite ironically, the service is known to cause performance-related issues on user PCs from time to time as it can eat up CPU cycles and memory blocks. Microsoft released Patch Tuesday updates for the month of December 2025 last week under KB5072033 for Windows 11 25H2 and 24H2, and Server 2025 and today Neowin noticed that the tech giant updated the release notes for the C.U. (cumulative update) to include this system process change. It writes:

"December 15, 2025 Update: This feature is included in the December 2025 non-security update (KB5072033). [System Components] The AppX Deployment Service (Appxsvc) has moved to Automatic startup type to improve reliability in some isolated scenarios."

A quick Google search for the Appxsvc service leads to various forum posts and results online where users are seen complaining about this system process. This ranges from issues related to high CPU usage, memory usage, or disk impacts. Hence, the process could be a major potential resource and performance hog depending on how it could affect a user's PC. By default the Startup type for the service was previously set to "Manual(Triggered)" so that it could be launched on demand when a Store app needed to be accessed; but now Microsoft is making it "Automatic", which means low-spec and less powerful PCs running the newer versions of Windows 11 could be in for a bad surprise as the process will continue running in the background as soon as the system boots up.

For those wondering what the Appxsvc service is, the process essentially handles Microsoft Store apps and updates and if it is force-disabled, Microsoft warns that this could fail to function properly. If we were to guess why Microsoft is making the change, the company recently revealed that it is soon going to be pushing Microsoft Store updates via the Windows Update channel, and hence all Store-related changes may always be kept on by default.

Google Exposes Windows 11 Security Flaw After Microsoft Fails To Patch It Properly

Project Zero is Google's well-reputed security team that is tasked with finding security flaws in the company's own products as well as those developed by others. Discovered security bugs are privately reported to vendors after which they are allotted 90 days to patch them. If this deadline is exceeded, the security issue is made public, which serves as a way to apply more pressure on the vendor and also give customers a chance to secure themselves independently. In some complex cases, a grace extension period is also awarded. In the past, Google Project Zero has reported bugs in CentOS, libxslt, ChromeOS, and Windows. Now, the team has disclosed a security flaw in Insider versions of Windows 11.

In a highly technical report on the Project Zero issue tracker, it can be seen that security researcher James Forshaw discovered an elevation of privilege (EoP) bug in Windows 11's Insider Preview releases. This issue was present in the Administrator Protection feature that is an upcoming Windows 11 capability that enables just-in-time elevation privileges only when needed through Windows Hello and an isolated admin token. However, during their investigation, Forshaw discovered that Administrator Protection has a flaw that allows a process with low privileges to hijack a UI access process which can further be used to gain administrator privileges. The researcher reported this vulnerability privately to Microsoft on August 8, which meant that the company had until November 6 to fix it. After receiving an extension for this deadline, the Redmond tech giant was able to deliver a patch on November 12, also thanking Forshaw for his contribution in CVE-2025-60718.

Although the matter was considered closed, Forshaw recently reopened the issue, stating that the patch is incomplete and it does not mitigate the flaw fully. As a result, the security bug has been made public, following radio silence from Microsoft. While the flaw is now public knowledge, it is worth noting that it's not something you should be sitting in constant fear of. It is a local privilege escalation attack, which means that an attacker needs to have physical access to the PC in order to run arbitrary code and exploit it. Furthermore, Administrator Protection is only available on select Windows 11 Insider builds and needs to enabled manually anyway for it to take effect. As such, the pool of potentially affected customers is quite small at this point. That said, it is important that Microsoft further investigates Forshaw's findings and patches them ahead of the eventual general availability of Administrator Protection in Windows 11.
