Surprisingly not many user reviews that I can find for these tires?

Although myself have been using Dunlop J5s on 2 cars and they've been alright for me, so I guess continuing with R1s seems like the easy choice.

But lets hear what other users can share, especially for GC5. Am curious how this tire does compared with other decent budget/economy tires

Buying tires online vs walk-in-store

My 4 donuts are almost due for changing, my previous set was bought online from shopee back in 2021,
Dunlop SP J5 @ RM155 per piece, whereas when I walked in enquired at several shops, average prices I was quoted was RM180-200.

They did disclaimer the stock may be up to 2 years old, luckily the set I got was only 8 months old

Now I see online prices for similar spec tires going for RM200-240.
Question is, is it still noticeably cheaper than walking in to a shop?
Thinking about whether to just walk in and get peace of mind of not-old-stock tires.

MBSJ enforcing new areas for paid parking

This topic is rather related to an earlier one I made, but do bear with me as this one is fundamentally different.

Across the street from my apartment compound is a small area of shoplots, mostly car workshops and offices.
This area has several apartment tenants including myself parking our cars here, because:

1. For a long time the MC only allowed 1 car park per unit, but some time ago they allowed 2 cars per unit. However the second car needs to pay RM200 half-yearly to park inside.

*UPDATE* The allowance for 2nd car parks per unit are full, meaning tenants now have no choice but to park outside

2. Until last year, this shoplot area was not an enforced paid-parking area. There werent even any parking boxes drawn around the place, so we enjoyed the free parking.

Beginning of this year, MBSJ painted parking space boxes and enforced paid-parking rules in the area. Even until now they have been consistently issuing samans to............. whoever that doesnt pay the parking fees.

The main point I wish to discuss this time however, is that it feels a lot like MBSJ saw this area as easy money, and made it a legal hunting ground to happily collect samans. Whereas tenants/residence like myself who use public transport to work every day and leave our cars outside, have become victims of the circumstances; we simply dont have any other place to park and then have to either fork out the RM80++ monthly fee or take our chances everyday to see if we will kena saman.

I know it is under MBSJ's jurisdiction, its in their right to enforce a new area as a paid parking area, and they wont know/care whose car belongs to those who stay at the apartment, but it feels... I dunno, like we are being targeted. I get it if the area in question is those busy commercial places like SS15, but this is just outside of residential apartments (there are other nearby apartments down the road).

Is there really nothing else we can do than to just suck it up and accept the reality? Or am I just being tak syok because something that used to be free (and not supposed to be free) now no longer is free?

Withdrawing investment funds to bank account

If one were to have accumulated a large sum of money in their investment account, whats the best way to withdraw them to their bank account without triggering suspicion from the bank? partial transfers spaced out across days/weeks? one lump sum?

how large is a large sum? lets say 25k/50k/100k/250k
reason? lets say buying car/house. therefore the funds are not urgently needed

Overhauling the topic as I have already gone through the initial house hunting process, and now focusing on a new topic

Edit 31/8: Long story short, I am currently stuck with signing the Offer to Purchase (OTP) letter because the draft OTP from the agency seems incomplete and some T&C are contradicting.

Meanwhile the selling agent has been impatient, disrespectful and rude during this stage of negotiating and clarifying the OTP. I want to engage another selling agent but they want me to terminate the current agent's services first.

Is it as simple as just cutting the first agent off by text and continue with the second agent, or are there some other things to consider? I have not signed anything or made any payments.

Inconsistent/unfair MBSJ parking summons?

This topic needs some context so bear with me, otherwise:

TL;DR MBSJ issuing parking summons only to some of the cars in the same area

Across the street from my apartment compound is a small area of shoplots, mostly car workshops and offices.

This area has several apartment tenants including myself parking our cars here, because:

1. For a long time the JMB only allowed 1 car park per unit, but some time ago they allowed 2 cars per unit. However the second car needs to pay RM200 half-yearly to park inside.
2. Until last year, this shoplot area was not an enforced paid-parking area. There werent even any parking boxes drawn around the place. So we enjoyed the free parking lah, and some more not blocking traffic.

When MBSJ painted parking spaces last year, they also hung up a banner informing that they would enforce paid parking in the area. However no summons were issued at all.

Beginning of this year, they hung up another banner saying paid parking would be enforced. For the first 3 weeks, also no summons. But last Saturday when I went to my car, I found two samans for unpaid parking, one issued on Tuesday, and another on Thursday.

Now here is the interesting part. Spread throughout the area there are also many accident wrecked/abandoned cars, and also cars being left for other repairs. I ronda-ed around and noticed:

- Some of the other cars owned by tenants also kena saman, some apparently didnt kena, and I recognise some of these cars remained in the same spaces prior to the samans.
- Some of the abandoned cars also kena saman. Some also didnt kena
- Some of the cars I recognise as being left for general repairs also kena saman, some didnt.
- The wrecked cars didnt kena any samans

Some of my friends think MBSJ just wants to make a quick buck for the festive season. Anybody else has more experience with MBSJ parking samans?

Meantime I'm considering to move my car inside because I just dont know if they will be actively targeting the area after this.

Dusty fabric car seats

When I plop down on my seat, in certain sunlight angles I can see plumes of dust flying out from the cushion.

Is a regular vacuum enough to clean it up? Or should I do dry cleaning?

If the latter, what is an average price for car seat cleaning (no heavy stains)? And any recommended car seat cleaning places around Subang/Sunway area?

Saw this on one of the machines in the gym. The machine only says the words "Multi hip" and nothing else except this diagram.

I tried it and kinda felt like I was working my thigh muscles rather than my hips, or was I doing it wrong?

Google image wasnt much help either, it said either glute kickback / standing leg curl.

Living in an affordable housing project

The current apartment I'm staying in has an average price of a unit at around RM350k - 400k, albeit its about 20 years old already.

Despite the not-that-very-affordable price per unit, they are still largely being rented out to foreigners. So much so it feels like a mini B---esh or My----ar here.

I've been looking around at Rumah Selangorku programs lately, which have prices below RM300k. It got me thinking, wouldnt people use these affordable homes to just rent out (and even more easily) to foreigners too?

Is there anyone here who is currently living in an affordable housing project like Prima or Rumah Selangorku? How is the living experience like, especially in terms of neighbours / community? I wouldnt be too happy to move out from one mini B---esh or My----ar to another.

You're welcome to share other aspects like the JMB, quality of amenities, etc.

Perodua "Long Life" Coolant?

Is Perodua now using long life formula for their premix coolant?

The service center SA said their current coolant supposedly lasts up to 160,000KM and just needs to monitor the level & colour.

I guess it could explain why coolant intervals are no longer found on Perodua's website, and the product description (on the website) says "extended service life".

But it's also weird that the container doesnt say anything about long life formulation.

Those people from non profit orgs

Like unicef, WWF, national cancer foundation, refugee charities, etc etc etc etc.

Those that standby around busy walkways, near train stations, pouncing on the many people passing by; to try and get them to commit to a regular donation plan.

Is there really no better way to reach out to the public? Knowing that the majority of people would just ignore them and continue walking away.

And, why does it have to be a committed and recurring donation plan? Why cant people have the option at least to give a one-off donation?

Victim of scam event organiser

Last year I bought a ticket for this Speed2O event which got "postponed until further notice", one day before the event.

Their social media pages have gone quiet and they have blocked anybody from commenting or DM-ing them. Until now, I have not received any refund from them.

I have contacted the event hosting site TicketMelon for help, no reply.
I made a police report, they told me to lodge a report with Tribunal.

I managed to reach out to another victim, Habib, who had earlier already submitted his report to Tribunal and a court hearing was issued.

However, the court was not able to deliver the some sort of court order documents to the company's address (returned to sender). We bought the SSM details on the company, and then found that they have vacated from their registered address

What Tribunal then told Habib was to personally deliver the said documents to the organisers / company director to acknowledge the dispute being made against them.

If the director still refuses to sign the forms, tribual said try emailing them (there is no email address available). If that still doesnt work, Habib would have to contact the judge for further advice.

At this point, Habib has gotten fed up of the messy process and pretty much given up on pursuing the case.

I feel disgusted that the Tribunal is making us victims do the donkey work when against a scam company who wants to run away with our money, and they probably know that by just simply ignoring us, they can succeed in doing so.

Before I decide to take over from where Habib has left off and end up wasting more time and energy, does anyone have any advice, tips, or suggestions on how we can win this dispute?

I was reviewing my current holdings recently and had just only realised how much of (paper) losses I've accumulated to date. Yes, these were simply bad decisions, lack of due diligence and a bit of bad luck/timing. I've pretty much learned my lessons and wont need further remarks or questions on how I got to this situation.

Originally I wanted to post this just to get the disgusting feeling off my chest.

But then I thought, maybe someone out here has bigger (realised) loses, worse feelings, or both. But couldnt bring themselves to open a thread to let it out. After all, this is our hard earned money that we are putting in.

So lets just see where this thread goes. Maybe it can be a place for us to share our sob stories, learn from and support one another.

Or else, at least I got to vent.

Local semiconductor stocks

So, from what I briefly observed, local semiconductor stocks have been generally in decline since 2021, then a short sharp rebound in mid 2024, and plunging ever since. Albeit Frontken seems to fair a bit better than the rest.

Do you guys see this as fresh opportunity to grab some dirt cheap stocks, or should we continue to be careful amidst the global trade and tariff situation? Be greedy, or be fearful? Bincangkan~

Selecting photos to share via Whatsapp

Previously when I want to send a photo via whatsapp, I was able to browse through all my image folders and choose the photo I wanted.

Now I am limited to only browse system-created folders (refer below attachment). Additional folders which I created myself no longer appear; so if I want to send a photo from any such folder, I would have to manually go into the folder first, select image, then use the "share" prompt by the system.

This has been happening on my older Android 11 as well as current Android 14 phones. Is this a bug from whatsapp's update?
