Dual monitor for ATI Mobility X1300

Hi all, couldn't find any "dual monitor" threads that match mine so here goes.

I've got a Dell 6400 (native res 1280x800) running ATI mobility X1300 (max supported res 1680x1050) on Windows XP Pro. I'm thinking of doing dual monitor with an external 22" LCD panel (native res 1680x1050). My question is whether anyone tried doing dual monitor on their notebook with an external LCD panel, where both panels run at different res?
