I'm trying to look for Malay music cds especially those from the past decade and the 90s.
Name-Your-Own-Price Game Design Bundle

StackSocial has come up with a new bundle for all aspiring game designers out there. Thought I'd share this, since I was once a game design student and I want to encourage more Malaysians to start homebrew game design and development. I'm no longer a game designer by trade, studying environmental engineering. Nevertheless, I'll still try to dip my hands back in game design once in a while.

All of the classes are offered through the MOOC giant Udemy and rewards users with a Certificate of Completion. Hundreds of hours of content in here.

Happy game designing!

https://stacksocial.com/sales/the-name-your...dle?rid=1194017

[WTA] Bringing back stuff from USA

Hi guys, I am returning to Malaysia soon and I have one check-in luggage bag filled with packaged goods, i.e. toys. The entire bag is nothing but toys and I am a little worried that I might get taxed or something upon arrival in KLIA. This isn't my first time flying from USA to Malaysia but my first time bringing 'taxable goods' back.

Also, does anyone know where I should keep two packs of unopened cigars? There is five in a pack, so that's ten cigars altogether. Should I keep it in my check-in luggage (do I have to declare it later in KLIA?) or do I just bring it along on my carry-on?

And does anyone know if it is allowed to bring folding knives (Smith & Wesson brand) in my check-in? Do I have to declare it, do I just pretend it's just kitchen knives and move along?

Thanks guys, much appreciated!

[WTA] Using Malaysian Electronics in USA

Hello guys,

I will be moving to America next week. Although there are lots of cheap electronics in America, I have decided to bring several items over such as my Samsung B2230 22" monitor as it is still rather new and I don't have the time to sell it here in LYN. I am aware that we both use different plugs and have different voltages. So..

1) Is it as simple as buying a monitor power cable with US plug and just use it straightaway on my Malaysian-bought monitor? Or should I use the Malaysian cable and use an adapter? Or instead, use the Malaysian cable with a step-down transformer?

2) What kind of electronics are suitable for use with the international adapter? Is it advisable to use things like battery and laptop chargers using an international adapter in the long run? Or do I get the US version of the chargers? Or use step-down transformers too?

Your help would be much appreciated! Thanks in advance.

Native Mac Gaming

I own a MacBook Pro 15" with Core i7 2.2GHz (Sandy Bridge) and 4GB RAM. I primary use this for media editing and college-related stuff.

I KNOW for a fact that MacBooks aren't intended for any (heavy) gaming, but I haven't gotten a replacement for my old gaming desktop yet and the MacBook Pro would have to do to satisfy my thirst for gaming. I have a whole bunch of Mac-compatible games on Steam such as Team Fortress 2, Left 4 Dead 2, Assassin's Creed 2, Counter-Strike: Source and others.

I realized that if I play them at 'High' graphic settings, I would experience a slight lag in the display every now and then. This lag occurs more often in areas where there are other online players visible. What confuses me is that this Mac has good specs - i7, 4GB RAM - heck, my old gaming desktop is a C2Q Q6600 with 4GB RAM and it runs all the games on high flawlessly. Is there something I am missing here?

The games run smooth on Medium, but I've been so used to high graphics and high-resolution gaming that it simply would not do. Are the 'Mac-compatible' games ported over and not optimized for the OS, regardless of hardware? Or what?

Can somebody care to explain?

P.S. I'd like it if someone can recommend me a good Mac-compatible controller? I have a Microsoft XBOX360 wired controller running on Tattieboogle's Mac drivers but it doesn't work for all games.

Survey: Which overseas uni got the most Malays?

I'm doing a survey to find out the concentration of Malaysian Malays in overseas universities. It'd be nice if you guys could provide the name of the country, the university (probably someplace you're attending/attended?) and the estimated (or exact) number of Malay people enrolled in the university. Singaporean and Indonesian institutions like National University of Singapore and Universitas Gadjah Mada are not counted as these countries have Malays as their locals too (kamon la Indon is Meleis too). Note the serious tag. I know there are lots of Malays in the UK, but do not know the estimated figures.
Here are some:

USA, Indiana University of Pennsylvania (IUP) - 2 Malays
USA, SIU Carbondale - hundreds
USA, Academy of Art University - 1 Malay (me )
USA, Ohio State University - 50 or so Malays
USA, Portland State University - 2 Malays (provided by theskems)
USA, Oregon State University - 1 Malay (provided by theskems)
USA, St. Cloud State University - 10 or so Malays

UK, University of Manchester - 3000 Malays and upwards (provided by xtroymd), 1000-1500 Malays (revised estimate by azarimy)
UK, University of Warwick - 'less Malays, feels good mang' (provided by edwardstevens)
UK, University of Sheffield - hundreds of Malays (provided by noyoudontcare)
UK, Imperial College London - thousands of Malays (provided by noyoudontcare)
UK, London School of Economics - thousands of Malays (provided by noyoudontcare)
UK, University of Liverpool - hundreds of Malays (provided by noyoudontcare)

AUS, University of Tasmania - 500 Malays (provided by marsupilami)

KOR, Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology - 4 Malays (provided by soothsayer)

JOR, University of Jordan - (belambak) (provided by marsupilami)

EGY, University of Al-Azhar - (belambak) (provided by rads78)
EGY, Alexandria University - hundreds of Malays
EGY, Tanta University - hundreds of Malays
EGY, Mansoura University - hundreds of Malays

NPL, [university name not provided] - 3 Malays (provided by sleep_snore)

JPN, University of Tokyo - 6 Malays (provided by Classification)

IRE, Royal College of Surgeons, Ireland - 'quite a few Malays' (provided by kaffra)

USB Root Hubs aren't working

Recently I've been getting a 'USB Device is not recognized - USB Root Hub' message which is very annoying and interfering with my gaming as it lags the mouse sometimes. Following a guide on the Windows 7 forum, I unplugged the power switch from the PSU and left it there for a minute, uninstalled all the USB Root Hub drivers, plugged the power back in and reconnected my devices one by one.

It seems that only TWO of six USB ports on my mobo works - the top two. My mouse and keyboard reinstalled just fine (Logitech MX518 and G110). I plugged in my Western Digital 1TB external hard drive but it wouldn't install the driver in any of the four remaining USB ports. I plugged out my keyboard and plugged in the external hard drive. The driver installed just fine.

Not even the two USB ports on the front of the casing works. How do I go about with this? Help!

Music sounds better in Foobar2000 than in iTunes?

Recently I purchased a set of Logitech Z506 surround sound speakers for RM319 at All IT Hypermarket. At this price it was rather cheap and of course just a beginner setup. Anyway, I had everything up and running, I set the settings in Quicktime/iTunes to utilize 5.1 channels, set the Realtek HD Audio Manager speaker configuration to 5.1 as well, and then installed Foobar2000. I also downloaded a Channel Mixer DSP for it and set it for my Active DSP during playback under Foobar2000's preferences.

I chose a song to celebrate the new setup with which was Dire Strait's Sultans of Swing (320kbps mp3). I opened the song in both iTunes and Foobar2000 (iTunes is my primary audio player/music library). I feel that Foobar2000 gives me a better sound and more 'oomph'. I replayed the song several times, switching between players.

Can someone explain to me what is this phenomenon? Does Foobar2000 actually run some sound enhancement program or something while playing the songs? Or perhaps there's some default settings in Foobar2000 that makes the sound better while not in iTunes? How do I make the iTunes sound better?

All thoughts and explanations are welcomed. I'm not very experienced in this. Thanks.

Hi guys, I'm a 2010 SPM candidate and I am currently applying for several American universities (Fall 2011 Semester). E.g., Academy of Art University - San Francisco, San Diego State University, and also Columbia College - Chicago.

I have met all the requirements of each university except for my TOEFL results (which I will send in soon, so no worries) but I don't know what is 'high school transcripts'. I know it's my high school records but WHAT, specifically? Currently in my possession are only my trial results, my Form 1-5 record book, and certificates for PEKA, PLBS and ULBS. What else do I need? (other than my SPM results slip which as we all know will only come out in March 2011)

Please help me out guys, to those of you who are currently applying for freshman intake or already studying in the USA.
Nikon D60 Dead Pixel

Hi guys, I own a Nikon D60 which was bought at April 2009. There is a green pixel that appears roughly in the middle of every picture that I take now. It's been like this for about 1 month. It's not really a big deal because I am often on Photoshop using healing tools to remove pimples and the also the green pixel, but it's a botherance to know that this thing is affecting all my pictures.

How do I fix this? The warranty is already over, by the way. If I can't fix this myself, which shop around Petaling Jaya would be recommended and how much do you think it should cost? If it helps, the shutter count is only about 15,000.

However, I would like to know wether there are any other race/classes out there that are easier to maintain and level up alone. I don't run into many people in WoW and they don't really talk, and my friends are DoTA nerds who will never touch WoW (must pay ma!).

I would appreciate it if you guys would give me some insights on the classes that are easier for me to level up solo.
I was walking along Orchard Road at about 9:00pm. In front of 313@Somerset. Lots of people walking by, as usual,

Saw this group of Meleis. Front man had his arms around a girl wearing a blue tube top. Tangan asyik raba-raba above the girl's slight cleavage. Suddenly the guy just pulled down her tube top a la Japanese Sharking. Pergh. Nice tits sial. The girl just laughed and cepat cepat pulled back up her tube top. I'd say at least 30 people saw this as it was near a zebra crossing.

Anyone /k/tards in SG saw this too?

Inb4picsorgtfo.
Bringing bicycle on board KTM Train

My friend and me are planning to take a train to Langkawi from KL Sentral. We want to take along our bicycles (for mountain biking purposes) and was wondering, wether KTMB allows bikes on board? I've seen cyclists in France bringing bikes aboard, both on the Eurotrain and the Paris subway. Is this possible in Malaysia? Or do we have to ship our bikes first like how we ship motorbikes via train?

Also, I was wondering wether a KTMB First-class Sleeper cabin is big enough to fit a bicycle on the floor space? I prefer the privacy of a personal cabin and also have the bicycle under my watchful eye as mountain bikes are not cheap.

All answers would be appreciated. KTMB website does not seem to be helpful.

Anybody in Frostmourne?

Hi, I'm currently on a 7-day trial of WoW (going to purchase my time card after my exams next month!) and I made a human paladin character which is now Lvl 9. I'm sort of stuck in the Elwynn Forest area (in terms of doing quests) and everytime I go out to do quests, I will die due to being overwhelmed by monsters. Most of the quest guides recommend me going in groups but there are very little people at where I am and they're not-very-friendly Lvl. 80 guys riding Mek-gineer motorcycles. Any friendly Malaysians here would like to help a newbie out?

BTW my character name is Xandroth. (Oceanic - Frostmourne)

What song is this?

Yesterday, evening time at Capital FM (88.9) I heard this song - I can't catch the lyrics, but I the song is pretty upbeat and when you listen to it, it instantly reminds you of Paris, France. It is the 2nd last song before this black rap song and The Ting Tings - That's Not My Name.

UPDATE: 24 Nov 2010 (Song found!)

I found it using the Shazam app for Android while in the car. The song is Tu Es Foutu by In-Grid!

[YOUTUBE]HfP8lVfbg5w[/YOUTUBE]

Monitor won't display anything - all black!

Hello sifus, I have a ViewSonic VA1912wb 19" monitor which I must say have served me well without any single problems for the past 2 years, until this morning. I turned on my computer only to find that there is indeed power supply to the monitor (as indicated by the yellow/green LED), but nothing comes out from the screen. I also observed that my Logitech G15's orange keyboard backlight flashes suddenly for 1 second before the backlight disappears, and the backlight returns soon once Windows 7 is loaded (which I can hear through my speakers). Is there any possible explanation for the above phenomena? I really want my monitor to be up and running soon as.. I can't see a thing? Currently using my mom's MacBook.

Please do help, guys. I don't have any other computer to test my monitor with, BTW. And in case it might help, I'm using a Leadtek PX9800GT gc. Computer components all rather new, not even one month old with the exception of the external devices like keyboard, mouse and monitor.

Changing PC Casing

I'm currently using an Acer desktop pc, specs in my signature below. My warranty has ended a long time ago and I'm looking out for a new casing (Cooler Master Elite 310) to replace my Acer stock casing. I have experience removing and reinstalling various parts in a pc before, but I was wondering wether OEM mobos will fit into a non-Acer casing? I've heard that OEM mobos couldn't fit into other casings that are not of the marketed brand. My current Acer EG31M is the OEM of Gigabyte GA-EG31M-S2 mobo. Is this true? Is it necessary to make alterations on the backplate or not, or maybe even switching to a new free-fitting mobo?

+ I got several good responses, thanks guys. Any additional info anyone would like to share, do post. Thank you!

Found a pic of my Gigabyte GA-EG31M-S2 mobo..
