Visual Basic 6.0

Hey guys, I was wondering if any of you could help me out a bit here. I have need to write a bunch of mumbo-jumbo codes that count the number of peaks from an electrical signal that was transferred to the PC through the microphone jack socket. The PC's soundcard acts as an ADC since the signal is analogue and to count it it needs to be digital. The signal is a sinusoidal signal but the timing between the maximum peaks differs.

So right now I need to write a program in VB 6.0 that can access the soundcard and somehow magically count the peaks of the signal. I was told to use DirectX > DirectSound > CaptureBuffer. All those audio APIs are giving me a headache. Anyone knows how?

Notebook CPU Fan

My notebook fan decided to die on me over a year ago. I decided to change it since I suspect that is why my hdd was damaged. Anyway I want to know what kind of fan do I need for my notebook? It is a Hyundai M-Life, model number HYM123W, or just 123W if you will.

I am not sure what is the difference between a CPU fan and a processor fan, all I know is that my fan has a heatsink next to it and it is near a rectangular looking vent. Is it easy to change it on my own and also if I want to change it do I just change the fan or together with the heatsink? Oh, if I ask anyone over at Low Yat to do it for me, how much would that cost?

Thank you to those who replied!
