5 months baby running nose

hi

i would like to ask about my daughter, she is 5 months and had running nose since last week. i had since gave her medicine as prescribed by doctor, her condition is getting better but she is still not cure up till today.

she still in jovial mood, still playing around, play active as she would, it's just her nose kept constantly stuffed with mucus.

how many days usually a running nose could last?

please advice. thanks.

Flashing police lights apparently couldn't stop a Coral Springs woman with a fast-food craving.

Police say when an officer tried to pull over Roberta Spen, 64, Monday for having faulty brake lights, she instead pulled into a McDonald's drive-thru lane and ordered lunch.

The bizarre exchange happened along University Drive just south of Atlantic Boulevard at about 2 p.m., and it spawned an all-out police pursuit.

Officer Courtney Vassell pulled up behind Spen in the drive-thru lane, and got out of the patrol car. With police lights flashing behind him, he told her to pull out into the parking lot for a traffic stop, according to a police report.

Spen, though, completed her food order, paid the bill, and then drove her bronze 2001 Chevrolet out of the parking lot and onto Northwest Sixth Court, Vassell said.

Vassell again flipped on his siren and stopped Spen outside the McDonald's, where he said she "rolled her window down one inch and said she was not speeding and she would not roll her window down."

Spen also refused to hand over her driver's license, vehicle registration and proof of insurance, then drove away from Vassell, police said.

Vassell got back in his patrol car, flipped on his emergency lights — again — and followed Spen as she turned north onto Northwest 98th Avenue, east onto Atlantic and then north on University Drive.

Several other police officers joined in the pursuit.

Although the police lights did not stop Spen, a red light at University and Ramblewood Drive did, and several officers attempted to box in Spen's car. Somehow, though, Spen was able to drive in reverse out of the box and continued driving north on University, police said.

Spen finally stopped at the Mobil gas station at 1351 University Drive., where officers again surrounded her car.

This time, when she refused to leave the car, the officers went in and got her — smashing the driver's side window and pulling her out, police said.

After a quick check-up at Coral Springs Medical Center, Spen was taken to a Broward jail, arrested on charges of fleeing and eluding, resisting arrest without violence and driving with defective equipment.

Police said on the arrest report that they found no indication Spen was under the influence of drugs or alcohol at the time of the chase, and they could find no explanation for why Spen, who before her arrest Monday had no criminal record in Florida, didn't just pull over.

In bond court Tuesday Judge John "Jay" Hurley ordered her release under the condition she submit to a mental health evaluation.

Spen could not be reached for comment Tuesday evening.

hi all

first of all i am hoping that my post here in F&F is relevance. i would like to discuss about japanese car and korean car

is it just me or is it really true that korean, especially both kia and hyundai keeps on advancing in term of making a good looking car? just look at recent released car such as forte, sonata, tucson that are roaming our road now. to be honest they are really really gorgeous man! the design, their aerodynamics, it's almost flawless regardless at what angle you are looking at.

but take a look at japanese model, such as city, vios, accord, which three of them are currently released. not that it's not good, but the korean are even better! and new civic 2011/2012 (google for it) just look nice, nothing to be shout out. mitsu and suzuki with their model, well in my opinion not worth to be mention at all.. all of them are just so so and nothing to be shout of.

well, i am comparing only on exterior design, not in quality, performance and other selling point. what happen to japanese design team? have they lost their touch?

myvi steering felt hard

hi

need your help/opinion on problem i am currently facing with my myvi

as we all know myvi is known with its light steering. it's so light especially when you drive a waja, and suddenly switch to myvi you will feel the difference.

however recently (for almost 2months) i noticed that the steering is quite heavy. in fact i find difficulties to steer the car especially during parking or when corner, as if i am using a non-power steering.

i have yet to check with service centre, so i would like to hear feedback from forumer here

have any idea what went wrong?

A former classmate came forward to help and, as revealed during a court proceeding, he was also the father of the girl the businessman had thought to be his own daughter.

The scandal came to light during the businessman’s mitigation in court after he was charged with reckless driving and causing hurt when he went after the wife and her lover.

The daily reported that the wife had also accused her husband of having an extra-marital affair and was physically abusive to her.

She admitted that she conceived her daughter following a one-night stand with her lover who claimed he was not aware, until last year, that he had fathered the girl. The couple were in the midst of filing for divorce.

The donor, when interviewed, said he was willing to give his kidney to the businessman because “our ancestors originated from the same village” and he did not want to see the couple suffer.

wrong speed trap

my wifey, she got have speed trap summon, she checked it online. prob is that is not her offense at all, she is not there, even her car is not there. summon was at subang jaya, while on the same day she was at house in penang (on medical leave on that day) and even her car was in penang

so how to deal with it?

Siren light used widely on civilian cars

dunno whether i should post this at F&F or here, so i decided to put in kopitiam instead, please feel free to move it to F&F if found appropriate

i am complaining about current trend nowadays where there are several cars, sometimes move individually and sometimes in convoy, that use siren light that is everyone find similar with law enforcement patrol car such as PDRM, JPJ, Imigresen.

my experience as follows.

1. recently while i was in kelantan, theres a convoy that move so fast, and all of the car have blue siren light on top of their car, and judging from their car, i dont see any mark/indicator that indicates that those cars were belongs to the government officials or law enforcement. and judging from the way they drive and their behaviour on the road, i assume they just simply use it to cut through the traffic jam and traffic light

2. while i was cruising on north east highway, all of sudden lots of mercedes convoy on the highway and install yellow siren light on top of their car, not only they convoy and the convoy is long (more than 20 cars), they use yellow siren light and at the same time flash me with highlights (which i found inappropriate cos they dont even pay road tax!) if they really want to convoy, use the left lane la stupid!

3. lots of tonto car (the ones that will rush to the accident side) use it widely..

4. once while i was driving i saw a perdana cruising at high speed, and have blue siren light, and that perdana is white in color, at first i thought it is a police car, so give way and found out that car is heavily modified with bodykit and big rims..

are they allowed to use it? now it seems that everyone also wanna be law enforcer.. come on la please dun let people like me to be confuse la! aiyo

A WOMAN gave birth to her pre-term baby by Caesarean section in a superstitious bid by her parents-in-law to avoid the Hungry Ghost Month, Sin Chew Daily reported.

Fortunately, both mother and child were safe and healthy after the operation.

A gynaecologist and obstetrician told the paper that the mother had insisted in delivering her baby a few days short of 37 weeks, before the infant was ready to be delivered.

This was because her parents-in-law insisted that they didn’t want a grandchild to be born on the seventh month of Chinese lunar calendar.

“I explained the risk involved in premature deliveries to the woman and her family members, but they remained adamant that the operation be carried out,” the doctor said.

The newspaper also reported that the hospitals in Singapore had received several requests by soon-to-be parents to “avoid” births on a particular month every year.

Some of those in the Chinese community believe it inauspicious to give birth during the Hungry Ghost month.

However, the trend was in decline as the younger generation was not as superstitious.

Fighting spreads in Thai capital, 17 dead

BANGKOK (Reuters) - Thai troops fired at protesters on Saturday in a third day of fighting on Bangkok's streets that has killed 17 people as soldiers struggle to isolate a sprawling encampment of demonstrators seeking to topple the government.

Soldiers crouched behind sandbags or atop buildings fired live rounds at protesters armed with petrol bombs, guns and homemade rockets in clashes around the business district. One was shot in the chest while trying to ignite a tyre.

At Din Daeng intersection, north of the protest site, three bodies were evacuated on stretchers, a Reuters witness said. Two suffered head wounds. Troops also swarmed into a parking lot at the popular Dusit Thani hotel outside the protest site.

That followed a long night of grenade explosions and sporadic gunfire as the army battled to set up a perimeter around the 3.5 sq-km (1.2 sq-mile) barricaded encampment where thousands refuse to leave, including women and children.

"We'll keep on fighting," said Kwanchai Praipana, a leader of the red-shirted protesters, calling on Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva to resign and take responsibility for Thailand's deadliest political crisis in 18 years.

He said supplies of food, water and fuel were starting to run thin as their usual delivery trucks were blocked but that they had enough to last "days".

Hardcore protesters, gathering in small numbers, set fire to vehicles, including an army truck, and hurled rocks at troops who set up razor wire at checkpoints and asked residents to show identification cards to stop people from joining the mostly rural and urban poor "red shirts".

A sign at one intersection warned residents not to enter a "live bullet area". Another warned of a "rubber bullet area."

The crisis has paralysed Bangkok, squeezed Southeast Asia's second-biggest economy, scared off tourists and choked investment in one of Asia's most promising emerging markets.

It has also stunned "Bangkokians" as one of the world's most bustling cities and tourist hot spots descends into a war zone.

"My ears are ringing with all the shooting last night," said Ratana Veerasawat, a 48-year-old owner of a hole-in-the-wall grocery store north of the protest encampment where many residents were leaving for safer locations.

"It's just awful and getting worse. Best to leave now."

United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-Moon expressed concern over "the rapidly mounting tensions and violence".

"He strongly encourages them to urgently return to dialogue in order to de-escalate the situation and resolve matters peacefully," his spokesman said in a statement.

The Canadian government urged both sides to return to talks after a Bangkok-based Canadian journalist was shot three times, one of three journalists wounded in fighting that has spiralled into chaotic urban warfare where front lines shift quickly.

"UNLIKELY TO END QUICKLY"

The government said on Friday it would restore order "in the next few days" as the city of 15 million people braced for a final crackdown in the area of high-end department stores, luxury hotels, embassies and expensive residential apartments.

The number of protesters in the main encampment dropped overnight but several thousand remained, many singing and listening to speeches by protest leaders. Some leaders, including the movement's chairman, haven't been seen for days. Several leaders wore flak jackets, fearing snipers.

"I am not scared," said Sanae Promman, a 37-year-old protester frying vegetables in a wok under a tent at the site. "Some of my friends have left because they are scared but many are still here to fight. We will fight until we die if we must."

They have barricaded themselves behind walls of kerosene-soaked tyres, sharpened bamboo staves, concrete blocks and razor wire.

"It's unlikely to end quickly," said a source close to army chief Anupong Paochinda, fearing more protesters would arrive to surround and attack soldiers.

The Erawan Medical Centre in Bangkok said 17 people had been killed and 147 wounded in the latest fighting.

Before fighting began on Thursday with the shooting of a renegade general allied with the protesters, the two-month crisis had already killed 29 people and wounded about 1,400 -- most of whom died during an April 10 gun battle in Bangkok's old quarter.

The fighting is the latest eruption in a polarising five-year crisis between a royalist urban elite establishment, who back the prime minister, and the rural and urban poor who accuse conservative elites and the military's top brass of colluding to bring down two elected governments.

Those governments were led or backed by exiled former premier Thaksin Shinawatra, a graft-convicted populist billionaire ousted in a 2006 coup who is a figurehead of the protest movement.

The red shirts and their supporters say the politically powerful military influenced a 2008 parliamentary vote, which took place after a pro-Thaksin party was dissolved, to ensure the British-born, Oxford-educated Abhisit rose to power.

"I don't think many see the end of this protest as the end of the crisis," said Danny Richards, Asia editor at the Economist Intelligence Unit. "When there's an election, either side will reject the legitimacy of the other. We'll be back to square one."

this kind of situation makes me think that our police forces are good in tackling the angry, fierce demonstrator and put out the small lit before it spread out like wildfire.. everytime there's demonstration, FRU will beats them down and keeps malaysia at peace so that we all could life and work as usual. put together with ISA, peace in malaysia is guaranteed. thailand should learn from us

Communication Breakdown

hi i am a married guy and my marriage is still at an early stage, me and my wife are married last February...

the problem that i am facing right now is with my wife's behavior, she don't want to communicate with me about our problem.

the situation is like this. our relationship is fine all away. but sometimes there will be problem which i think is normal in any couple. every time there's a problem, i really want to talk about it and want to find a solution, instead of quarreling and blaming game. but it seems that she really happy to play the blame game, and really walk out from the talk. she refuse to sit down and discuss. at the end there's no solution to our problem and the problems keep on stacking....

i already talked to her that every time both of us having a relationship problem, it is always better for us to sit down and discuss and try to talk with each other and find a solution. but up till now she still want to live in denial, and prefer to just let things go...

another problem that i am facing with her is that i cant feel any support from her whenever i need one. i mean, i came back from work with a very tension and stressful face, and she don't even bother to ask what's up. and to even think that she will come and hug me and try her best to put out the stress away from me, well it is just a dream...

i don't blame her entirely and there must be something went wrong in someplace at some time, and i may be the reason she acted that way, but if she did not even bother to tell me what's really going on, how am i going to know about it?

she is my wife and the most closest human being to me, but i cant even feel her present emotionally...

please advice, i am trying my very best to be a good, if not a better husband...
