Hi, my notebook harddisk that's bought separately from my notebook was gone together few months ago (unknown reason, I guess might be short-circuit). I took out the hard disk and using USB-IDE cable to connect to another notebook, I tested few months ago and Windows could not identify what's the removable storage was.

Today, I tested again because I wanna make sure it's already spoilt and send for RMA since it's still under warranty. now, the harddisk can be identified but
1. It did not show anything on My Computer
2. It's found under Device Manager (Disk Drives)
3. Click on the Properties of this HardDisk, under the Volume Tab, I clicked on the Populate button and It's showing

Disk: Disk 1
Type: Unknown
Status: Unreadable
Partition Style: Not Applicable
Capacity: 0 MB
Unallocated Space: 0 MB
Reserved Space: 0 MB

I'd like to know the possible cause of my hard disk status currently?
If I send for RMA, will my data be retained?
I checked the western digital website, the nearest workshop/service center/warehouse is in Singapore??

Appreciate for any useful info. Thanks

Relief income tax from insurance

Hello, I'm interested to know some details about relief income tax from insurance.

I've heard people told me that ONE policy can only be used to relief ONE of the insurances (KWSP/Life Insurance and Educational/Medical Insurance) from the income tax, if you want to relief both items, you need to have TWO policies. How true is that??

Secondly, what are the types of Medical Insurance? 36 Critical Illness is one of them right? What are the others?

Thank you very much

SAR level disturbs you to buy a cell phone?

Recently, a cell phone attracts me but its SAR level is as high as 0.9 - 1.1 W/kg (roughly), it disturbs me. It's quite high, isnt it? I'd like to know if anyone does look into the SAR when you're buying a cell phone.

How much the SAR level is tolerant for you?

Pinned Thread: http://forum.lowyat.net/index.php?showtopic=296932

QUOTE(calvin_gsc @ Jun 4 2006, 02:29 PM)

Cell phone radiation levels
By CNET staff (updated June 2, 2006)

What it all means
According to the Cellular Telecommunications Industry Association (CTIA), SAR or specific absorption rate is "a way of measuring the quantity of radiofrequency (RF) energy that is absorbed by the body." For a phone to pass FCC certification, that phone's maximum SAR level must be less than 1.6W/kg (watts per kilogram). In Europe, the level is capped at 2W/kg. The SAR level listed in our chart represents the maximum SAR level with the phone next to the ear, a level obtained through required FCC tests.

It's important to note that in publishing this list are we in no way implying that cell phone use is or isn't harmful to your health. While research abounds and some tests have shown that cell phone radiofrequency (RF) could accelerate cancer in laboratory animals, the studies have not been replicated. Cell phones can affect internal pacemakers, but there is not conclusive or demonstrated evidence that they cause adverse health affects in humans. So in short, the jury is still out, research is ongoing, and we will continue to monitor its results.

Wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mobile_phone_...tion_and_health

QUOTE(Mobile phone radiation and health @ Wikipedia)

The results, so far, have been controversial: the majority of epidemiological studies have not found any clear indication of short and medium term health hazards. On the other hand there is extensive literature (see "The Stewart Report" for a survey) on so-called non-thermal effects of weak microwave radiation on biological tissue in animal models or in-vitro, including affecting the growth of certain tumors, cell death, increased permeability of the blood-brain barrier, DNA damage and others, which suggest the possibility of adverse health effects in humans.

SAR detail discussion should proceed to the PIN thread i guess? I'm just curious how many people take concerned about this SAR thingy.
