SELLER PERSONAL COMMENT OF ITEM:

The DAC can upsample anything to 2 X DSD. Result is a sound that has no hard edges like red book sound. More analog sounding = High pitch vocals less shrieking. String instrument more natural sounding. Bass drum more solid.
Overall impression is anything up sample to DSD will lose the hard sounding edge of digital. Instrument sound fuller and natural. Imaging become clearer. Brightness of a recording is reduce hence YOU TEND TO CRANK UP THE VOLUME CAUSE IT DOES NOT HURT THE EAR ANYMORE!!! Especially if you use headphones.

IF playing file as red book the sound is detailed...imaging is good...sound staging good...overall neutral/flat frequency response.

Headphone amp sound is good. For 300 ohms headphone it is only adequate. Need dedicated amp.
Recommended headphones is below 100 ohm and more than 100 db sensitivity. Wide frequency response i.e more than 30khz would be nice.
Sony HiRes range of headphones is recommended.

Audiogate 4 is simple to install and use. To real time upsample need powerful computer. If not just pre upsample your music to DSD before playback. I use Lenovo Y500. No problem to real time upsampling from WAV to 2X DSD.

To compare tracks that is upsample- listen to original track and then listen to upsampled track...there is a bit of improvement. Then listen back to original track...then you see a big difference because the upsampled track does not hurt your ear anymore...you can enjoy your music louder and longer without fatiguing. You notice instrument sound natural and fuller because the hard edged glare of digital is gone. Also the final word is VIBRATIONS....instruments seem to produce vibrations more naturaly than before...literally... you can see it!
