Car Stolen

My Proton Waja was just recently stolen. Filed police report and everything, but low chance of ever seeing it again. The car was old and falling to bits, so wondering why the thief got no taste to steal it in the first place. I was going to buy a new car to replace it soon anyway.

Now my real concern is the number plate on the stolen car. It's a special plate and has real sentimental values. Question is if I buy a new replacement car, can I still use the old plate number on it? If so, what is the correct process of doing so? How long will the process take?

Not sure if waiting for insurance company to pay some RMxK back for stolen car will complicate my plan to buy new car and use old plate number.

Would appreciate any well-educated members' comments to the above. Many thanks in advance.
