Bought a stolen phone

Morning, just wan to ask opinion from all the bros here....

last 2 days, my BF trade his samsung s4 with a iPhone 5 with a seller from mudah.my
they do the trade at noon at the ESSO taman segar cheras
my bf just check the phone that it can be dial and all the hardware is fine.
den all the things works smooth.

when at home, my bf try to restore the iphone. that time, just just found out that the phone is till lock with a apple id so that he cannot do recover,
he try to call the seller but the thing is he lost the seller phone because all the sms conversation is in the samsung s4.

my gf found some contact in the phone so try to contact one of it to get the owner detail.

around evening, a lady call and claim that the phone is belongs to her. say that her phone had been stolen just one day be4.
with no doubt, she ask my bf to return the phone to her. my bf told her that this could not be done because he just bought the phone.

she told us that her iPhone5 and iPhone 4 had been stolen when they in a exibition.

so at that time, the "owner" ask my bf to help to get the thief and my bf try to search the seller at mudah.my by contact each of them..... (i know is not possible to find the guy anymore but just gv a try.....)

the next day, my bf just wan to use the phone so that he sms the lady to nego with her by paying her MYR500.00 as compensate and she will help my bf to unlock her phone. so that both of us will not get "hurt" so deep. but one condition, my bf have to pay her by next week.

She agree and say will unlock the phone after lunch due to there is no internet connection and laptop for her to do so. My bf request the apple id and pass just for unlock and she say that inside the apple id alot business data. so that she cannot provide us the id and password.

so my bf spend the time with me at my CONVO and until late evening, my bf try to get update from her.

this time, she sound different say my bf con her. ask her to unlock the phone a run away, my bf did give her his contact number, and my contact number and told her that is up to her to choose to believe or not. so my bf know that she will not help us unlock the phone so we told her that we decide to sell the phone to junk shop as spare part so that we can get some of our lost back.

after that, her husband call back to my gf phone number and start to scold us. say that we are the thief and con man. say that he already report to police, show the police all the sms we have. he also say that will go to my gf and mine office next monday to see our boss complain about this. say that he know people from "black and white" ask us to becareful........

and now he took my bf facebook pages photo and tell the whole world that we steal his phone and con him.

what should i do now? should i go report police?

** one statement i wan to ask, he say that if we bring stolen item to police, the stolen item will be hand back to the owner. is this true???
