sdalk — Wed, 05 Nov 2008 12:12:39 +0800

Hi guys,

I am sorry if I am not suppose to ask this question under this section. But I really don't where to ask la ... I apologize first okayze ...

I am a small IT company in Kota Kinabalu and I am helping out 1 of my client to setup cybercafe (50 stations) in the 2nd quater 2009. I would appreciate very much if someone could share their experience in their cybercafe buisness like:

Initial setup:
1. 50 winxp licenses (client station) and 1 win server license (administrator station)
2. network layout like how many switch or router?
3. do we really need net nanny (website filtering) to be installed in the server?
4. do we really need bandwidth manager to be installed in the server?
5. How many Windows Server CAL (device) do I need to purchase since there will be only 2 devices connect to Win Server, which is a switch and the ADSL modem, I guess.
6. Is Windows SBS 2003 more than enough?
7. Can we use Windows XP Pro to act as a Windows server if we change the connection limit to like 500 (http://hwrms.com/blog/?p=17)
8. How do you lay the cable? on the floor or somewhere else?
9. Any other additional software we need to install in the server/client?
10. How to purchase 50 license for Warcraft or Starcraft? How much is that?

When business is running any issue you encountered?

Appreciate someone could advice on this. Thanks !

regards,
Mark

sdalk — Wed, 05 Nov 2008 00:03:12 +0800

Hi guys,

1st of all, I would like to apologize if I am not suppose to ask this question here. However, I really don't know where to ask. So please forgive me ah ...

I m going to setup a cyber cafe will 50 stations. I am wondering if I buy a Windows Small Business Server 2003 Standard edition would be sufficient. Does this standard edition includes with 75 users or devices license? This mean I just need to buy once and do not need to buy more CAL ? Appreciate if someone could advice me on this.

Thanks & Regards,
Mark
