Path of destruction to my Samsung LCD 206BW

My rig kong few month back. I lost my modem, Mobo and my LCD.

I was wonder why my LCD was affected coz I am quite sure that the surge is coming from my phone line as my Antec power supply is still working fine. So what destory my monitor?

Finaly tonite I have the time to open up the LCD for investigation after getting a quote from Samsung service center with the bill of RM 301.70 for a 20" 2ms LCD monitor.

First I check the LCD power supply circuit board, every thing was fine. Then I move to the logic board, and there I found a burn mark on the VGA port connector.

With this evidence it tell me the path of destruction to my Samsung LCD 206BW.

The lighting surge come into my house via the phone line, hit my modem, not killing it completely. (coz it still power up, LED got lights , with LAN circuit burn only) and the surge travel through the LAN cable. to My MOBO, killing few of the USB port around it, make a turn come out of the VGA port and reach my LCD.

In simple path diagram

telephone line> LAN > Mobo > VGA > LCD

The logic boad is beyond repair with high chances the processing chip is also damage!

Time to shop for a new LCD now!!! So my good friend in LYN any good suggestion to me? looking for something 22" to 24"

I plan to modify a stock dell 530, plan inlcude change the PS, upgrade CPU, add a ATI 4850, more RAM....

I am kinda stuck at one point with the CPU, I got hold of an old X6800 chip and plug into the machine it recognize and booted, but some how the core freq always stuck at 1.6G instead of the surpose 2.9G even I running Orthos and any stress program. My BIOS is 1.0.16

I am suspecting the bios is limiting the multiplier value, coz when I plug in a E6600 the speed step seems to be working find... any expert care to share their experience?
