HR lied about salary range

Hi, looking for advice and opinions.

First off I know it's a no no to disclose salary to colleagues but well it does happen sometimes.

Recently joined this company and found an ex colleague also there. He told me what he was offered, and another ex colleague got a call with the same offer as the other guy. I was offered a lower basic, but higher KPI allowance. Total amount is the same, except that obviously I'll get less basic and they get higher even if, let's say, they don't perform as well.

Yes I'm aware they based salary on several factors such as last drawn salary, work exp and test results. What made me feel unfair is that, from the beginning the HR told me the range was different for the same position. Eg. I was told the max range was 3k, but they were told 3.4k. If they told me the range was actually not what they told me, maybe I wouldn't have been quite annoyed even if I got offered a lower basic, perhaps I didn't do so great at the interview or something. But I mean even so, if I'd known the max range they initially told me wasn't true, I of course would have tried to push higher first, and even if they didn't approve, at least I know it wasn't the incorrect range conveyed in the first place. And also the fact that I have more experience and did get higher salary... just added salt to my wound.

Is this normal? Do HR lie about salary range to diff ppl? Is there anything I can do like express my concerns to a certain department? I know it's probably too late to renegotiate but it still feels damn unfair because they lied to me from the beginning.

Sorry for the rant, but yea, it's pretty upsetting. And this is probably why companies don't allow employees to divulge salaries haha but well what's done is done...

First bike + gears for a total newbie

Hello, I'm planning to get B full license soon (most likely at Metro Subang, since they have that 'until pass' package ), and currently doing a ton of research to decide on which gears and bike to get.

I was originally thinking of getting a 250cc since it's sort of at the borderline of B2/B Full, but then from what I've found out so far - seems only Duke/RC 250 has ABS? Others like R25, Ninja/Z250, CBR250 xde (CMIIW). I think ABS is important, I know there are differing views on this though. Anyway from further readings on Duke 250, it seems to have quite a number of problems (engine not starting in the morning/screen died, etc.), plus I don't really dig the look of the dashboard, just a personal thing though - no offense .

So let's say I decide to leave out Duke/RC 250 (haven't completely written it out yet for now), it's either I upgrade to 300cc or downgrade <250cc - but no point in getting <250cc since I'll get a B Full (at least that's what I'm trying to convince myself lol), plus my point above regarding ABS. If upgrade, it's either Z300/Ninja 300. I also would have considered R3/MT-03 but unfortunately no point here, lol.

I'm 158cm, ~54kg, I've never ridden a motorbike before, learned to drive stick shift but drive AT now (I do miss driving MT though, but with the traffic jam, ugh). Is the Kawa a good option? I haven't tried the seat height/riding position or see if I can handle the weight, a bit too scared/malu to go to shops alone right now lol. But I'm leaning more towards Z300. It's a tiny bit lighter too.

Then I still need to think whether to get new or 2nd lol. If I can find a great condition, accident-free secondhand from a trustworthy direct owner with reasonable price - I will most likely take that route, can save some money and pump more into gears. But can't seem to find many 2ndhand Z300/Ninja 300 ads, if buy from shop, a bit worried it might be refurbished and stuff also.

Is there any other bike you can recommend? I'll stick to 300cc, I don't dare to go above that for the time being. Budget for new is max 30k, 2ndhand probably 15-18k for a 2-3 years old? Not so sure how to estimate the budget for 2ndhand. But if 2ndhand is about 20k, might be better to get a new Duke/RC 250 instead (it's like the last option for now lol).

As for gears, haven't finished comparing reviews and stuff but after looking at a bunch of helmet crash test videos and ratings, I have to say I'm eyeing the Shoei Neotec or GT Air... hahah. Have been told Scorpion, Shark and HJV are good too and cheaper, so will continue further research. Jacket, I like the Alpinestars Roma Air Waterproof, but also looking at a few Taichi (RSJJ19 and RSJ310) and Komine - too many! Boots I like Alpinestars SMX 6, or are they too much for a beginner? Lol. Gloves, pants and extra armors, haven't started researching. Still got a lot of homework to do, but would love opinions from the seasoned riders. Oh, budget for gears I guess 3-4k, is that a good estimate? Any recommendations for gears are very much welcome too.

Thank you very much in advance!!

owner withholding deposit for 2 months

Hi guys,

Would like to get some advice.

Our old landlord still has our deposit of 1.5 months until now, and we moved out at the end of Sept - her reason was she was waiting for outstanding bills and cleaning+painting charges, then she will deduct those and then only refund the balance to us.

And now she's charging all sort of other things that I believe she shouldn't - eg. she charges 'running fees' as her transport cost from her house to the building to settle the issue of checking mailbox etc., she charges RM100 for access cards which she claimed were damaged (they were working fine on the day we returned the cards and keys to her, so I think we shouldn't be held responsible for this?), and she's charging RM360 for cleaning fee, and another RM400 to repaint the master bedroom.

The paint job she claimed was RM800 for the room, and will be split half - when I asked for the invoice, she said she couldn't provide one because she asked 'odd job worker' to do it, because if she called a proper painter it would have cost rm1200-1500. As far as I know, repainting would be for the whole unit, not just the room, so I believe she also got the unit painted and charged half of that to the deposit.

I'd like to know, is there anything that we as previous tenants can do? Report police or something? The contract itself said the deposit should be refunded upon returning the keys, but she insisted to hold all for the pending bills and others.

We didn't have an agent, dealt directly w/ owner and this has been this way since the previous 2 years - 2 different house leaders and then passed it on.

Appreciate any advice and suggestion!
