Astro Awani News : Malindo Air plane catches fire, passengers escape unhurt

KUALA LUMPUR: A Malindo Air flight bound for Kuala Terengganu on Wednesday had to turn back after one of its engine caught fire.

The incident was confirmed by a Malindo Air spokesperson to Astro AWANI on Thursday.

The spokesperson said the fire occurred about five to seven minutes after the flight took off from the Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah Airport, Subang.

In a statement issued moments later, Malindo Air explained that the incident happened during climb at about 7,000 feet.

“The aircraft fire detection system was activated and immediately the operating crew carried out the emergency checklist as per the standard operating procedure to contain the situation.

“The captain decided to turn back to Subang and the aircraft landed safely in Subang without any further incident,” the statement read.

Malindo Air confirmed that no passengers were hurt in the incident and all the passengers were later transferred to another flight to Terengganu.

“The cause of the incident is currently being investigated and has been reported to the relevant authorities, engine and aircraft manufacturer,” the statement read.

It was learnt that among the passengers onboard the aircraft were players of the Terengganu football team, who were on their way back after yesterday's match against ATM FA in Selayang.

This the fourth incident involving local aviation this month alone.

On March 8, Malaysia Airlines (MAS) flight MH370 which was scheduled to arrive in Beijing, went missing with 239 passengers and crew from various nations including Malaysia.

On March 21, MAS flight MH114 from Kuala Lumpur to Kathmandu carrying 180 passengers and crew escaped disaster while landing at the Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) after it was hit by a flock of birds.

On March 24, MAS’ Airbus A330-300 en route to South Korea made an emergency landing in Hong Kong after its main electrical generator stopped working.

MH370 crash: MAS liable to pay millions in damages even if plane not found

KUALA LUMPUR: Family members could claim as much as US$175,000 (RM578,000) for every passenger aboard MH370 even if the Malaysia Airlines jet is not located, a Bloomberg report says.

"The disappearance of Flight 370 remains a mystery. The legal claims against Malaysia Airlines - those are not a mystery," Robert Hedrick, a pilot and air-disaster lawyer in Seattle, was quoted as saying in the report.

Airlines are liable under the Montreal Convention of 1999, an international treaty that covers air travel, to pay damages for every passenger killed or injured in an accident, even if the cause cannot be established.

As there were 227 passengers on board MH370, which vanished on March 8 and is believed to have plunged in the southern Indian Ocean based on latest satellite analysis from Britain, Malaysia Airlines' liability could come close to US$40 million.

But if an airline is found to be guilty of negligence, its liablity can be much higher, says the Bloomberg report.

The cap of about US$175,000 in damages per passenger as stipulated in the treaty may no longer apply in this scenario, as family members of the affected passengers may sue and demand much higher compensation. - The Straits Times/ANN

YAHOO NEWS UPDATE : Malaysia Airlines tells families it will keep searching for jet

Malaysia Airlines on Monday told relatives of the 239 people on board a missing passenger jet that "we have to assume" the plane went down in the southern Indian Ocean, but vowed the search for the jet would continue.

"Malaysia Airlines deeply regrets that we have to assume that MH370 ended in the southern Indian Ocean," the airline said in a statement to the families, citing new analysis of satellite data.

"On behalf of all of us at Malaysia Airlines and all Malaysians, our prayers go out to all the loved ones (of those on board) at this enormously painful time," the statement continued.

"We know there are no words that we or anyone else can say which can ease your pain. We will continue to provide assistance and support to you."

The airline vowed in its statement that the ongoing search for the plane and an intensive investigation into its fate "will continue, as we seek answers to the questions which remain".

The statement echoed the words of Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Razak, who -- also citing satellite data -- told a press conference in Kuala Lumpur late Monday: "It is therefore with deep sadness and regret that I must inform you that, according to this new data, flight MH370 ended in the southern Indian Ocean."

MH370 vanished without warning on March 8 while flying over the South China Sea en route from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing with 227 passengers and 12 crew on board.

Malaysia believes the plane was deliberately diverted by someone on board. But the absence of firm evidence has fuelled intense speculation and conspiracy theories, and tormented the families of the missing for 16 days.

The search swung deep into the Indian Ocean last week after initial satellite images depicted large floating objects there, and further sightings of possible debris in the area energised the massive, multinational operation.

It has not yet been confirmed that the debris spotted in the area is from MH370, and officials have voiced caution. It is also still unclear why the plane ended up so far off course over the southern Indian Ocean.

So now its confirmed that its crashed. So its confirmed that no way a plane can be undetected by whatever radars throughout the world. Its just about how efficient those country to detect it or else how on earth they so sure the plane crashed into the Hindi Ocean and not landed somewhere else.

So assume the plane really indeed crashed into the hindi ocean, then the plane is not linking to any terrorist anymore. 90% because of the pilot, 10% is someone from the passengers who had professional aviation skill to take control of the airplane and crash it but just 10% because very unlikely.

Why our transport Minister not from MCA? Is it goodd or bad? We are now facing super duper serious matter of the missing of MH 370 airplane. We need capable and strong leader of Transport Minister to handle such critical task of recovering back the missing airplane. But the current Acting Transport Minister really cannot and totally tak boleh pakai lacking of leadership and capability and utilizing available power and resources to track back the missing airplane.

Let say after some time, then china able to find out the truth behind the missing of MAS airplane MH370 that indeed the Malaysian government trying to hide the truth until the delay of searching the airplane or whatever reason which is the Malaysia gov's fault.

Let say a hijackers with an airplane now heading towards a tall building example KL twin tower or USA World Trade Centre. They demanded 1 billion USD transfer into switzerland bank account. If not they he will crashing into the building. Let say the airplane is flying towards to building and going to crash if bijan or obama refuses to transfer. So under normal SOP, the jet fighter will shoot the airplane with 239 people inside or just let the plane crashing into the building?

Chris Yates, another aviation expert, said: “There will be two areas for the investigation: the maintenance of the aircraft and also possible terrorism.”

No matter how, someone needs to be responsible for this shit. Its not just finding the wreckage only. Flying at 35000 feet so high somemore. Dont tell me the military radar of vietnam country cannot detect anything.
But need to know more detail about the radar stuffs. Even those terrorists very pro or hijackers superb pro, stop sending out signal from the plane, but i believe the vietnam county still able to detect their position through their air system. Unless this hijackers already hack vietnam air control system and someone working inside. All this is possible.

And also must check from top to bottom inside MAS company. The maintanance of the plane. Investigate everyone, maybe some of them had been bribed to put some bom inside or whatever.

For those who had watched Triumph in the Skies, should know even in the most worst condition, the engines having failure, oil leakage, or even worst plane hijackers, but still the pilot should be able to send a Mayday or whatever signal back to the control tower. The door should be not easy to be broke and even the terrorist trying to break the cabin door, also the Captain pilot able to immediately report back to the control tower. This is all too suspicious. Must check entirely on this 2 pilots their SMS and call through the month and everything. This is too suspicious. This is not a normal air plane failure or whatever. Is because of human evil .

There was oil been seen on the sea surface. But how come the wreckage cannot be found? Either the water current was fking fast or someone conspiracy to put some oil there to mislead everyone. All this is possible. But if the plane crashed on to the forest how come no people notices it. Its too weird. Vietnam should not be hiding anything!!!!

Lost Cheque book

I try to make it simple to tis case and hope u guys could enlighten me with some useful help to solve the problem. My gf has lost her cheque book last month coz rob by indonesian guy..then ady immediately inform the police that lost everything including ic and so on..inform bank to stop the account as well...But last few weeks, ady got reported 2 pieces of cheque has been used around 40k...use my gf's IC to buy coz use cheque required phtostat ic...i think they ask a girl look like my gf to buy.tis i not sure...so suppose next week wednesday, go to court to settle it...but today my gf told me that theft use all the cheque to buy thing..and she told me now oni got 2 way which is lost all the money in the account or go to jail...wtf...i damn sad and angry now..not my gf who used it also need to pay and enter jail? is it ntg the police and lawyer can do? any lawyer or police here? serious err...If it's atm card,,it's ok coz can say the theft simply type the password and take the money and it's our responsibility to take care of the card...but this is cheque book...signature different..not the real person who bought it..still can be sued back and pay them money? very fan now..pls help
