I partition and formatted (NTFS) my external HDD using my old winXP, I also labelled them in winxp.

When I use the external HDD on my win7 notebook, the drive label will not show up.
anyone have the same problem, how to solve it ? is this a bug in win7 ?

problem with thumbdrive

hi,

i dunno why but sometimes when i click on my thumbdrive icon inside the window's "my computer", it will show this message and ask me to select the program to open this file.

there's no windows explorer inside the program list and i can't browse the files on the thumbdrive. I cannot even launch the explorer when i right click the "explorer" on the thumb drive icon .

is this a virus or trojan. i've use avg antivirus to scan but it found no virus. anyone experience this before?

ok, i have no problem connecting the pc to the internet. My problem is related to Win XP Ms Network browsing. i want to share file between towo pc. here's the story :

i have two pc at home (PC 1 and PC2) , both connected to a router and then to the internet. both running windows xp pro. i setup the ms windows file and printer sharing on both pc. i disable the firewall for both pc.

the problem is pc no. 1 can browse the shared folder for items in pc no. 2, but pc no. 2 cannot browse for files in pc no. 1. both have admin rights and already have a folder setup for sharing.

i normally use "\\pc2" at the run function to browse for the computer on pc1. (can work)

if i type "\\pc1" it cannot work
but if i use "\\pc1\shared" then it can browse the files in the folder. any idea how to browse for the root folder and why this happened ?

i think my pc is infected by virus , but the AVG Free edition couldn't detect any virus.

My problem is that the AVG email scanner will sometimes pop out the following message like connecting to some pop mail server somewhere, but i did not open any email program.

Aquafair Malaysia

I was there on Wed (one day prior to opening ceremony) to help Discus society Malaysia to take photo for their online voting competition here are some pre-aqua fair photos.

p/s there is no signboard saying flash photography on the fish is banned, but the fish do looks different under flash than without flash especially the blue diamond and other solid color discus. I just use my kit lens because I need the wide angle shot to include the number and the fish together.

Gigabit Ethernet Question

Hi,

Hope that you can clarify my doubts. Two of my friend each has a PC which has built-in gigabit ethernet port on the motherboard (asus brand Nvidia chipset).

they want to share and transfer file through lan cable using the gigabit ethernet without a router/switch, does they need to buy a special gigabit crossover lan cable or any straight through cable will do?

Do all gigabit ethernet card comes standard with auto mdix , can auto differentiate between cross / straigth lan cable. thank you for your time.
