im doin an assignment for college , packaging design

wondering how to create a vintage old-ish effect background like those 70s or older posters or pin up girls
like those old yellowish brownish photo does anyone know how to create this effect??

i hope somebody understandslol

so heres the deal , i have to buy a laptop for my college. btw im studying multimedia design.
and i dont really know alot of things abt laptops n computers.
so i did some research and all and my mom n i wen to lowyat to buy a laptop.

some recommended me to buy HP compaq cq40 becos it suited my budget n the specs that i wanted .
i think its not bad . but actually i prefer a dell because im attracted by the colour n exterior cos hp and compaq looks dull. (im still a girl after all, canot help it)

so we walk around lowyat and look around for better options and all then we stopped at this booth (i forgot which floor) but it was just at the escalator. and it wasnt run by a local. more like pakistan or Iran or dunno where they from la.
so we just asked him abt some things and he recommmended dell inspiron 15.
two of them spoken decent english and all la.. at first, and the rest were like blur and all but they were not the ones who served us.

bla bla bla so we went up to this place upstairs to make the easy payment thing. then when we came down the guy said no stock ( for the colour that i wanted which was red) but he offer me other colours instead. but i didnt like other colours at all. so if i want the red one then i have to wait for one week or less after some consideration i said i will wait its alright.
and the only they had was the display one of cos i dun want that and the display has a lil scratch mark or dunoe what line or it so the guy said he doesnt wan to give it to me..

and so we figured we can take the free gifts home first and wait for the guy to deliver the laptop to my house(he said that to me but i dunoe if hes cheating me or wat)
so we grab the free gifts and we were waiting for the laptop bag. and we waited for so long we didnt even knw what the hell we were waiting for.
we ask one of the guys he said wait for 2 mins.

then we waited again for long time and still the laptop bag was still no where to be found!

we asked them where is our laptop bag again and we were waiting so long and why is it taking him so long just to take the bag. when he showed us the laptop he didnt went for too long ! and those blardy idiots i dont even know if they understand me or not they just nod their heads and then said nothing!
my mom was growing impatient long before dy! she almost started to throw fits!

and then this guy he called the guy who served us to come back quick but i think he didnt call him actually because he was speaking english on the phone. if he really did call he would be speaking his mother language becos thats what the speak with their colleages even in front of the custiomers. so i think he was just saying it to us to make us think he really talk to the guy.

and then we waited for long time! my mom was angry and then she said she wanted to cancel. and then those guys they say dont dont dont! hes coming back .. and all the bullshit they were giving us!
then the guy came back(i think hes the one in charge or hes the boss cos the other are clueless!!) and he said no need to wait and alll.

then we just throw the free gifts back to them and ask them to send them together with the laptop.
my mom was really angry because we went back empty handed and spent 3K for this kind of bullshit service!
we dont even know if they are really goin to deliver the laptop to my house or if they will deliver the display one to us. he said he will deliver it on monday.

before we decidedd to buy everything was fine and after we make the payment one of the guy who serve us, his attitude really flip over 180 degree. he was like ignoring and didnt even bother to answer our questions and just attended to another customer. he told my mom to stop when my mom was asking and asking where is the bag and all with an impatient tone or maybe an angry tone. maybe he scare we will scare the other customer off!

the boss (i think, was attentive enough but while he was away, his worker were like idiots!)
made me want to punch them in the face!

so im scare if he really give me the display one or he really go and change all the things inside the laptop.
and last time he said we no need to wait for 1 2 hours to install the software. he just type my name n password then ok dy. including microsoftf office n cs 3 . is this possible?

so the thing is , is it okay if i still wait for the laptop or should i just cancel it?
are they trustworthy? are they really goin to deliver it right to my doorstep?
how can i know if he give me the display one ?

i know its a long post im sure many of u are not interested in reading this but i just wan to get this off my chest!
i am really afraid that i might waste my mom's hard earned cash to those idiots.!

and is dell inspiron 15 better than compaq cq 40?

please help me out here..
i cant sign in to my msn hotmail n messenger! its not the first time now. it says i cant sign in because the windows live ID i entered does not exist or is incorrect.

it happened last two or three weeke ago, i thought i was hacked so i opened another new acc! but i lost all my contacts

but today it happened again! i cant sign in messenger n hotmail! but i can sign in with my sis acc
i try to reset my password with the secret answer but it tells me to try again! and again!
i havent save my contacts yet after last time and i really dont wan to open another acc again! its VERY troublesome!

and i dont know what the problem is! is it virus or hacker?

and also my internet speed is like in turtle paced! but sometimes its fine.. only certain websites, like photobucket(i cant even sign in but i can view the pictures),friendster n facebook too and someother.
but i still can watch youtube video, doesnt take too long to buffer, download speed also okok!

please help me out here. .
if its a hacker what should i do? if its a virus?
im sorry but i really dont know what to do!

my first noobie hand painted shoes

so this is my first hand painted shoes, i think i kinda ruined it by painting it. haha
not a good painter. .but i was doin it for fun .
took me almost all day to finish. from around 3pm to 3am .. the small details almost killed me cos the brush n the paint were giving me troubles..

cant stop myself once i started.. hohooho

Lomo camera for newbie?

hi, im very interested to get my hands on a lomo cam, always wanted to buy one but im only a student and my budgets are really tight...

and i dont really know anything about lomo cameras i just like the certain feeling? vibe? of the pics taken by a lomo cam. some pic have those kinda like vintage or classic feeling back in the 60s or 80s .. lol
im not sure.. i just love them
i think lomos are great. lol

so recently i have some money(not much thou) so i decided to get one lomo cam for myself..
any recommendations for a newbie slash noobie?

i always love the fisheye..i thinks it freaking cool..
but when i start to dig deeper i realise there so much more and now i like holga and diana too.. so im in dilemma
but holga and diana are quite expensive(correct me if im wrong)
for my first lomo camera i would like to start with something cheaper.
around rm150-200. maybe rm250.
just in case i become interested with other stuffs before ive played with my lomo camera long enough.. lol
i have broad interests..

hopefully my lomo craze wont die off so fast..

and i would like to ask where can i buy lomo camera with cheaper price? in KL area
i know room in mid valley are selling them but i think usually have to wait for a long time if not wrong.. they dont have ready stock..

i also have some(alot maybe) questions like what film to use, where to process the films.. any special films needed?

graphic design or businee? : interest or bread

i want to study graphic design out of interest cos i like to doodle or draw some character and would like to have a career in advertising or become a designer.
but the problem is, designer makes little money, stress alot and heavy workload.
worst still, little pay.. that kinda bothers me.. not sure if im talented enough or not too.
(i wan to support my parents so i wan to earn more money so my old folks can have a easy life when they get old, and take care of my bro who has been taking meds since young and mostly the rest of his life)

and so , i started to doubt my decision to take up graphic design so maybe i should take business since they kinda make a lil bit more money ..

(i dont like to let money be the focus of my life but thats the facts of life, no money, ure nothing.)
so, if business really brings more money to me and my family i think thats the path that im gonna choose..
but i still cant quite get my finger on it ..
cant make a dam decision

if i take graphic design, its my interest for now but what happens after 5 years? 10 years? or 20years later?
if i lose my fire? my passion? and eventually my work will sucks and who will wan my work?

business is so general, and so many ppl are studying the course, thus competition is also quite high.
if i end up an insignificant worker in a small company. i also die..
lol
although i will try to do my best.. and climb the ladder up my way.

my head is like a ticking timebomb now,
so stress that pimples are growing on my forehead...
then the pimples leave scars to my face then if all fails i wan to become some rich uncle's mistress also no chance right?
(haha ..joking la this one)

im not asking u guys to decide my tertiary education (or maybe my life, lol) for me but just give me some advise and give me some guides so to clear my head a lil bit..and i will thank u so much .. lol

when it came back, it seems that the computer canot read chinese, and the chinese words become many many squares..

how to solve the problem ?
i downloaded the NJ star chinese comunicator thingy but still canot read chinese...

hey there,
i just graduated from highschool and im interested in studying graphic design

im wondering which college or unversity provide better graphic design course. .
im not sure which one is better so i kinda need help choosing.

im been to some edu fairs and college , im thinking Sunway College University, which provide graphic n multimedia design , i think its quite good cos it combine both graphic n multimedia in one course unlike other institutes which separate them as two individual courses.. so i think its quite good since computer stuff is quite important nowadays..
(please correct me if im wrong)

plus sunway is alot cheaper compared to Lim Kok Wing n The One Academy because in my case money is kind of a problem.(my mom asked me to study UKM cos its cheap but i dun think UKM provide design courses)

i was thinking abt Taylors too, and also Raffles in Msia, and PJCAD..
im not sure at the three of them but im sure it'd help alot to clear things off my mind

so im asking opinions from everyone and also students who are studying graphic design which is the better institute..
or is there any other better ones out there. .locally though..

Graphic Design or Bussines? ; Money or Interest?

hi,im a fresh SPM leaver, currently waiting for my SPM result.. ive been putting alot of thoughts abt my future studies now, i was kinda settled with graphic design.

however through this forum i learn that design is really tough work(this i know n bearable,bt afraid im not talented enough or creative enough), and i also learn that the job opportunities and the salary doesnt really equal to the effort. ..(which is kinda low la..)

i dunoe by studying business or other course i can secure myself a better job or atleast being paid higher than a designer

i think that i have the responsiblity to contribute back to my family when i grow up and start earning my own money, so maybe i will give some of my salary to my family(duno how much and if my parents would accept or wtv bt still i try not to become an anak derhaka, n my parents cant work forever right?)

so if i can barely support myself with my own salary how can i support my family too ?

and of course, more money is always better than less money right?

so, i dunoe if i should rethink abt what i want to study or maybe i should consider studying business or other courses that might lead me to jobs with better pays? (i duno if i should put it this way)

but at the mean time i really hav very little knowledge abt bussiness studies, im not sure if i can handle them too,
but im not very good in maths or add maths(i heard maths is not really that important in business bt still...)

so i guess im back to square one, still not knowing what to study..
its very frustrating. .

i like to draw, ive been drawing since i was in primary school(comic/cartoon stuff =.= useless eh?), i always get distracted from class lessons(esp maths lessons) bcos im too into drawing,
(sumtimes i blame my hobby in drawing to be the reason why im bad in maths..haha)

so please anyone please help me or enlighten me with ur opinion..i'd appreciate greatly..
