Permanent vs Contract Job

Would you dump your daytime (office hour) permanent job to work in a shift-based contract job?

Areas that i need to consider:

$$ Pay: One month salary for contract is equivalent to the current pay (for permanent job) + 2.5 mth annual bonus. Of course, there is no bonus for contract staff. Permanent job, not sure if got 2 mth bonus or not. IF got, overall, pay per annum is almost the same.

Learning Opportunity: Can't comment much, but there should at least some learning over there (at contract job place) since it is a newly setup team. For my current permanent job, i'm uninterested with the tasks, coz my job is boring, and out of my direction as it don't involve technical much, and i felt the potential for career growth in my current field is little.

Commuting hassle: Contract job place is much much nearer to home, and can save alot on petrol+parking, at least some 2K in a year. And saves alot of time too.

Job stable: Contract=can 'kill' off anytime. Permanent=hard to kill unless i m really tht sucks.

Working hours: Permanent is a fix ofis hour. Contract is a shift based (12 hours/shift), and the work pattern is like work 3 days, off 3 days.

Benefits: Very much the same.

Company structure: Both are MNCs UK/US based company.

I have been tinking about this for days, stuck in a loop of 'what-ifs' especially during this recession time.

How would you decide? Will you play-safe?
