17" laptop with budget 2k

i owned a compact A900 series laptop, intend to buy another one for my younger brother,
however this model is discontinue...

beside this, any other suggestion?? only budget RM2k..no gaming purpose..

Compac A900 error message pop up when open excel

Recently my notebook compac A900 face a problem, when i open my excel ( sometime), it will pop up
a error message chat box as below :

spoolsv.exe.application error
the instruction at "0x7c9118d0" referenced memory at "0x006f004d". The memory could no be "written"

What's wrong of it??

I have add 1g ram, and downgrade the system to XP, is this the problem??

And when i using LAN networking to surfing web, the computer will hang and show blue screen,
later shut down and can not restart itself..what's the problem of this circumstances?

Install XP, microphone function down

My lappy compaq A961TU with freedos, at HP website only hav Vista version, but i think is too slow, therefore downgrade to XP.

After installation, found out that my built in and external microphone function can not use anymore...

any professional here can help??
