Exabytes Ransomware Attack

Mainly known for its domain and web hosting services, Exabytes has revealed that it has experienced a ransomware attack. According to a notice that was posted in the Community Forums of its support website at 9:12 PM yesterday, the company first detected the incident at 5:00 AM.

As you may expect, the ransomware attack has caused disruptions to some of the services offered by the Penang-based company who apparently serving more than 160,000 clients throughout the world. Among services that were affected by the attack includes WordPress hosting, virtual private server, and Windows-based shared hosting, according to Exabytes’ support site.

Exabytes’ support site, as captured at 1:49 AM today.
However, service restoration is taking place at a very slow pace though since the site also noted that only 3% of the data has been restored by 12:30 AM today. So far, the support site did not mention how long the full recovery process would take.

Meanwhile, nothing much was revealed through the brief statement that was released by Exabytes although the company did note that it has informed authorities regarding the attack. In a tweet that has since been deleted, the attackers have apparently asked USD900,000 (~RM3.75 million) in cryptocurrency from the company although it is unclear whether Exabytes has actually paid for it or otherwise.

File Permission

File permission available:
Read-only, Read /Write , Deny Access

I want to configure a user where he can :

Upload an excel file with filename Quote.xls to a folder
Once uploaded , he can only read-only the Quote.xls , and if he want to modifym need to save the file as Quote-r1.xls as revision, not overwrite the existing file.

It is possible?

Im using xcopy command to backup files.
Let say I want to backup all files in C:\Program Files\Windows Mail\ *.*

How to type in dos command to C:\Program Files\Windows Mail\ , which contains spaces?

Those folder without space is no problem. Example that works:
xcopy c:\files\*.* f:\files\ /c/d/I/f/h/y/s

How to point domain name to public IP for web server?
Example : example.com is the domain name registred and 60.52.208.11 is the public IP for the web server.

The web server is located within LAN and domain name is registered at a webhosting company.

Email server IP address blacklisted

Hi,

Package: Streamyx Enterprise 5 Fixed IP.

One of the IP address is being blacklisted due to no Reverse DNS.
I checked it at : http://mxtoolbox.com/blacklists.aspx

How to setup Reverse DNS? I called helpline but they do not have the knowledge about it.
Or need to go to TMPoint to request?

File sharing

Hi,

One of the server is running Windows NT Server SP4 with file sharing enabled.
However, Vista users unable to login to Windows NT. Each time username and password is entered, it will prompt again username and password. I'm sure the user account is properly created in Windows NT.

I tried to map network drive from Windows NT folder to Windows Server 2003 and share out, but no file sharing option for map network drive. So, any other way to share the files so that Vista user able to share the files in Windows NT.

My server IP address is : 192.168.1.111
My UTM firewall IP address/gateway is : 192.168.1.254

For every local client pc, which DNS should I configure?
Primary : 202.188.1.5 or 192.168.1.111 or 192.168.1.254
Secondary : 202.188.0.133

In which situation should I put to the server IP or firewall or Streamyx DNS?

Hello.

Basically we have 2 Streamyx Enterprise package, let say modem A(5 fix IP) and modem B (1 Fix IP).

Modem A is use for CCTV - (PC1) . Example gateway is 219.95.97.111
Modem B is use for Internet access within the office. Example gateway is 192.168.1.254

I already configured CCTV - PC1 for public access. Gateway is 219.95.97.111 and IP is 219.95.97.112

The question is, it is possible to set CCTV PC1 having 2 IP address with 2 different gateway? maybe using 2 network cards?
The intention for doing this setup is for those computers within the LAN(192.168.1.254) will have a faster access to the CCTV PC1 because of the same gateway.

Having problem setting up the Linksys WRT54G using Maxis broadband.
Zytel modem only have a single Ethernet port.
If connect directly, it can access the Internet, using PPPOE.

What is the setting for WRT54G? Automatic, Static, PPPOE or ?
What is the DNS for Maxis broadband?

CCTV setup

Hi all,

What are the necessary steps to setup a remote connection(around the world) for CCTV? I managed to view within LAN only.

Currently using K-Link DVR with static IP.
It supplied with Apache Web Server software, but I have no idea how to setup.

Infected with Womble.C worm

Dear all,
Recently all my network pcs were infected with womble.C virus when scanned with AVG antivirus. It replicates the following files on the shared folders :

dvd
dvd_info
free
h_core
l_this
lunch
mp3
new_mp3
new_video
photo
sh_docs
take_it
video

The worm will executes even without clicking on it. Once infected, it will creates some .jpg, .exe and .pif on all the drives.

Any removal tools available? Thanks.
