219.93.218.177 Streamyx Gateway High Ping.

Hi,

EDIT: Change to formal report format as below.

Broadband provider
ISP/package: Streamyx 1mbps
Location: Ipoh, Sinfar Park
Have you called your ISP's helpline?: more than 10 times

Personal equipment
Modem: innacomm W3400V
Router: none
Firewall used: none

Problem details
First occurence of problem: Since 8-Aug-11
Problem frequency: exists all times
Problem description:

Previously I have no issue to connect to UK server with ping <300mS. Just a few days ago, my ping went up to 400mS+ with a lot of loss packets.

When I did a traceroute, I found out that I am having high ping in 219.93.218.177. The ping can fluactuate from 10ms to >2000ms, with loss packets. I wonder this is normal.

When I look back in my modem, I found out the WAN IP is always 115.135.*.* or 118.101.*.*. No matter how many times reconnect also getting same IP. Before this I have 174.*.*.* IP and have smooth ping. Are they any relationship of these WAN ip contributing to high ping in 219.93.218.177?

Also I discovered my SNR margin downstream can drop from 15dB to 9dB but normally at 13dB.
For copper line, I rewired new wires in one year ago.

Other than these 2 problems I dont see any other unusual things.

So my questions are:

(a) Will TM entertain this complain? Or the problem I highlight above, is it actually a problem and TM can fix?
(b) What can I do to get back 174.*.*.* IP or smoothing ping?
© Where else can I complain other than 100 Hotline,'custcare@tm.net.my', 'streamyx@tm.net.my', 'support@tm.net.my', 'help@tm.com.my'. As I believe TM technician is not able to fix this.

Anyone face similiar issue and mind to share their experience and solution? Thanks in advanced.

Below are some screenshot showing 219.93.218.177 high ping and SNR margin.

- Traceroute to TMnet, Google, Yahoo.

- High Ping and Packet Loss to 219.93.218.177

- SNR info and WAN info

2900XT RMAed to 3850(Final:replace w.8800GTS 512MB

Bought the Asus 2900xt at RM1500 from a shop in low yat, not more than 4 months, the card died.

RMAed the card and I was told the returned card is Asus 3850.

It was known that 3850 is a low budget card and lower performance than 2900xt in every aspect. Not to mention the price gap between these 2 cards, as there is depreciation cost, but still, it is truely unreasonable.

Appreciate advice and not flaming.

[EDIT: change topic name]

Streamyx Bad Connection In Ipoh Area, Recently.

I found out that these few days I am getting random dc for no reason. Before this my streamyx was working like a charm. When I tried to check the problem I found out that I am getting fluctuating SNR margin, from 4dB to 14dB, yeah, 4dB is a badas** low number. My phone line only connects to modem, that's it. Been tried to restart modem 10x, still same.

It has already been 4 days in this condition. BTW, my area is near pengkalan, ipoh. Anyone from same area suffering same problem? Cause I'm gonna log a freaking ugly ticket to streamyx for not solving the problem. They didnt even put this maintanance plan in their announcement.

What to set for FSB Strap and DRAM Frequency?

My comp seems like getting auto restart once in a while. I suspect something to do to my FSB strap and DRAM frequency in bios. Instead of having both the settings set in "auto", I would like to set them in exact value.

Processor : Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600
Mem : Crucial DDR2-800MHz 2GB Kit (dual channel mode)

Please advice what value to set for in order to get stock speed:

[1] FSB Strap to North Bridge
[2] DRAM Frequency

Solution for DSL-5XX/T Series Router Problems

Hi guys,

Is anyone here having DSL-504T? If yes, you might be aware of this major problem with this router. When you are downloading 2 BTs for a long time, however, the BTs are in 0KB/sec, but you are unable to surf net anymore.

This is due to the bug in firmware script writing of current firmware release. I've found new firmware on AUS dlink ftp site, but since it says that u cant downgrade once you upgraded so I wouldn't risk for it.

This is what i found from the web:

QUOTE

When I first responded in this thread although I had experience of installing a T-series product I did not have one myself. Since then I have installed a number without problem and also own a DSL-G604T.

On this model router, the 'time' problem you refer to has been fixed in the current (as at May 2005) UK firmware (V1.00B03T01.UK.20041126). However, you appear to be running the latest UK firmware for the dsl-504t. (I believe it's not only UK firmware for this version that has this problem)

However, there are known problems in two areas:
- 'hanging' after a random period of surfing. This sounds like the problem you also report. Fix: disable the DNS Relay feature and check that the DHCP server is set to hand out the ISP's primary DNS server address.

- 'hanging' when using P2P applications. This is caused by an insufficient number of concurrent NAT sessions.

Some users report that other 'country' firmware variants fix the P2P problems, but I'm not sure what the position is for the dsl-504t.

There are two firmware upgrades in the pipeline to add:
- SNMP support
- ADSL2/2+ support
