Best friends Chenelle Wen and Xinle Chai influence together (and each other)

Turn up at just about any fashion or beauty event in the Klang Valley and you’ll likely spot fast friends Chenelle Wen and Xinle Chai taking selfies, posing for photos against the photowall or “instagrammable” backgrounds at the venue, perfectly made-up and dressed in stylish garments from the latest seasons.

Their Instagram pages are littered with pictures together – and while it may appear superficial to many, their friendship runs much deeper.
The 29-year-old influencers and best buddies’ friendship goes back to their university days, where Wen was studying architectural science and Chai was doing a degree in information technology at Taylor’s University.

We lived at the same unit in the university hostel. We clicked instantly! She was quite an introvert and I introduced myself to her, but these days she’s gotten so talkative,” recalls Chai, an actress and influencer from Johor.
Wen, who hails from Kedah, blogs about travel, beauty and fashion and also owns an online jewellery business and travels monthly for work.
“Xinle has a cheerful personality and I feel comfortable being around her,” says Wen.
After graduating the girls lost contact and went about their separate lives – Wen worked at a digital marketing agency and Chai had a marketing job before she got signed to a modelling agency.
Years later, fate brought them back together.
“We lost contact for about five years, and one day when I was driving in my condo carpark I received a text from her,” relates Chai. “It turned out we actually lived in the same building! I really do believe in fate.
“After that we began hanging out together a lot, attending events, going for drinks and meals, shopping, laughing and crying together,” she adds.
“We can do any activity as long as we’re spending time together,” says Chai.
Throughout their friendship both girls have supported each other through thick and thin. When a relationship ended for Wen, Chai stayed over at her place and they talked through the night.

Just when you think you've heard it all, an Australian driver finds the airiest excuse ever to get out of a speeding ticket.

After being pulled over by the cops for allegedly speeding 17km/h or 10mph over the limit (127km/h or 79 mph in a 110km/h or 68mph zone), the unnamed man from Western Australia told the police “The wind was pushing me”.

No, seriously, that’s what he said and it went on record with the Three Springs Police department sharing the citation on their Twitter account with the humorous caption ‘And the excuse of the day goes to…’.

As you’d expect, the cops didn’t buy the excuse and handed the driver a AU$200 fine while also deducting two demerit points on Monday.

Malaysia's external debt to GDP ratio higher than others in region at 66pct: Moody's

KUALA LUMPUR: Debt has risen in the Asia Pacific region and emerging markets like Malaysia, Taiwan, Vietnam and Thailand have recorded large increases in debt.

Moody's Investors Service, in its latest report, said Malaysia has a much higher external debt to GDP ratio than the other large economies in the region, at 66 per cent in 2015 compared for example to 32 per cent in Thailand.

The ratio has also grown 11 percentage points since 2009 and Malaysia now has the second highest EVI or External Vulnerability Indicator in the region, after Mongolia.

In terms of external debt to GDP, it said Laos, Papua New Guinea, Malaysia and Sri Lanka recorded external debt to GDP over 50 per cent and have experienced an increase in leverage over the last five years, so they fall within the ‘vulnerable’ quadrant of the bubble heat map. Mongolia, Malaysia, Papua New Guinea and Sri Lanka are the four economies in Asia Pacific that had an EVI of over 100 per cent in 2015.

Moody's said emerging market economies are becoming increasingly vulnerable to external shocks after a decade-long build-up of debt. "The growth in debt was the highest in the Asia Pacific region, with the largest increase in external borrowing in China, India, Indonesia, Taiwan and Malaysia." While China's external debt to GDP ratio is still the second-lowest globally at 13 per cent of GDP in 2015, the average external debt to GDP ratio for Asia as a whole has recently increased from 31 per cent ( 2008) to 47 per cent (2015). The figure comes below the 78 per cent of emerging Europe, but comparable to the 48 per cent in Latin America and the 43 per cent in the Middle East and Africa region.

Debt is now growing faster than GDP and faster than foreign exchange reserves for many of these countries. The increase in debt is being driven by the growth in private debt, rather than public debt.

Moody's expects that global economic growth will remain sluggish for the medium term and commodity prices will stay low for several years going forward. "Even though developments differ by country, these trends show that emerging and frontier markets are now more susceptible to economy-wide crises than they were a few years ago," said Elena Duggar, an Associate Managing Director at Moody's. "While sovereign debt profiles have improved, the increase in private sector debt is making sovereigns more vulnerable to contingent liabilities."

TM nafi harga internet di Malaysia mahal

SHAH ALAM - Telekom Malaysia Berhad ™ menafikan laporan mendakwa kadar internet dan jalur lebar negara berada pada tahap paling mahal.

Menerusi satu kenyataan, TM menegaskan laporan kaji selidik atas talian oleh Ookla Net Index yang meletakkan Malaysia di tangga ke -26 daripada 192 negara untuk purata kelajuan muat turun juga tidak tepat.

“Kaji selidik itu tidak menyeluruh dan seimbang kerana banyak faktor yang tidak dijelaskan secara perinci.

“TM ingin menjelaskan, tahap kelajuan jalur lebar dan keluasan liputannya adalah berbeza di antara negara dan patut turut ambil kira polisi nasional dan dinamik pasarannya,” katanya.

Walaupun Malaysia dilaporkan mempunyai tahap kelajuan purata 5.4Mbps, liputan jalur lebarnya melangkaui kebanyakan negara-negara jiran.

Setakat suku tahun pertama 2014, tahap penembusan jalur lebar di Malaysia telah mencapai 67.2 peratus menerusi pelbagai inisiatif dijalankan oleh kerajaan seperti Inisiatif Jalur Lebar Kebangsaan (National Broadband Initiatives - NBI).

Sebagai peneraju jalur lebar di Malaysia, TM kini mampu beri jalur lebar berkelajuan tinggi kepada pelanggan di kawasan yang kurang menerima perkhidmatan secara berperingkat dengan pelancaran perkhidmatan 4G pertama iaitu TMgo, baru-baru ini.

Menyentuh mengenai dakwaan kos sambungan internet dikatakan tinggi berbanding negara lain, ianya tidak seharusnya diperbandingkan secara terus memandangkan terdapat banyak faktor lain yang turut mempengaruhi kos pelaksanaan rangkaian infrastruktur termasuklah faktor geografi serta saiz sesebuah negara itu.

“Sebagai contoh, Malaysia, dengan kawasan pendalaman serta bentuk topografi berbentuk banjaran dan gunung meliputi sebahagian besar negara, menjadikan pelaksanaan sebuah negara yang tersambung secara menyeluruh sangat mencabar,” katanya.

Menurutnya, kaji selidik BT Teleconsult telah membuktikan bahawa perbelanjaan modal (capex) TM adalah di antara paling efektif di dunia berdasarkan ciri-ciri utama rangkaian jalur lebar berkelajuan tinggi (HSBB) yang dilaksanakan serta tempoh pelaksanaan yang paling cepat.

‘Houses to cost more post-GST’

HOUSING prices are expected to go up by two to three per cent with the implementation of the six per cent Goods and Services Tax (GST) on April 1 next year.

Residential properties are tax-exempted instead of being zero-rated, leaving developers unable to claim the six per cent as part of input tax contributed to the GST, said Malaysia Property Expo (Mapex) 2014 chairman Datuk Ng Seing Liong.

“The developer, as a seller, cannot claim back input tax. It has to add the tax to the cost of construction and that will increase the selling price. The Real Estate and Housing Developers’ Association (Rehda) has proposed that properties priced at less than RM400,00 to be zero-rated.

“Zero-rated means the developers can claim back input tax so that they don’t have to pass on the increase to house buyers,” he said, here, yesterday.

Rehda has submitted a memorandum to the government highlighting the impact of GST on housing prices.

It has organised meetings with the Urban Wellbeing, Housing and Local Government Ministry to discuss ways to cushion the GST impact on house buyers, which may involve a government concession.

Rehda has also proposed to the government to lower the proposed six per cent GST as the tax burden on the property industry is expected to be greater.

“In this line of business, we provide credit facilities of 30 and 60 days, and in some cases 90 days. But under the GST, you have to pay in under 21 days. Even though you have not collected the money, you have to pay the GST,” said Ng.

Rehda plans to hold a series of talks for prospective home buyers next month on the effects of GST to the housing sector.

Rehda is the organiser of Mapex, the country’s largest property fair.

It will be held at the Midvalley Exhibition Centre from October 10-12 and is expected to attract as many as 50,000 visitors this time around, with sales estimated at more than RM300 million.

“Last year, we hit sales of RM380 million,” Ng said.

Mazda 5 or Biante

Hi guys,

Have make a booking for Mazda 5 skyactiv yesterday but in dilemma for Biante. It seem that Mazda 5 not getting much attention and it hards to get a review compare to Biante.

Biante is good, the spec is generous, price is cheaper and will enjoy carrying the whole family in one car. But, for this kind of MPV, afraid the handling of the car will be not good, however that is to be expected for this kind of mpv. For Mazda 5 instead, is one of the best handling mpv out there and with skyactiv technology, it make it as an ideal choice. Hope can clear my mind over this.

Despite the numerous health benefits of condoms, they're often criticised for reducing the level of pleasure felt by men, and women, during sex.

With this in mind, a pair of PHD students has created a digital prototype device that sends short electric impulses along the underside of a condom.

This can increase the amount, and range of sensations, felt during sex - and opens up the technology to be used with other wearable devices and sensors.

Using their design, Peer and Quitmeyer said they envisage conductive leads being directly embedded into existing condoms by manufacturers, while 'maintaining the soundness and protection that the condoms already provide.'

To test the range of sensations, Peer and Quitmeyer made a soft, 'stimulating sleeve' fitted with conductive arrays of electrodes along the underneath part of the shaft.

The device is powered by a programmable Lilypad microcontroller, which can receive various inputs and commands, and send electrical impulses to small electrodes lining the inside of the sleeve.

'This type of device could be hooked up to numerous controllers, directed in person or using existing internet software,' said the designers.
