Freelance Accountant

My company is currently engaging the service of an accounting firm but we are not too happy for these 2 reasons:

1. Staff turnover - They have changed the accountant in charge of our company 2 times in the span of 1.5 years. Although they are helpful, they are pretty fresh and sometimes may not be able to answer some tricky accounting situation on the spot.

2. Slow delivery - I believe they are accepting more jobs that they can handle as we have to chase them for our accounts every month. We have yet to receive our finalised June's account to date as they are mistakes here and there which are repeated every month.

The company is now looking into hiring an experienced freelance accountant which is referred by a reliable contact. The concern is now how reliable are freelancers as we worry about them passing out company's information to outside parties or they'll just decide to close shop out of a sudden.

I know you'll face these problems too when you are dealing with an accounting firm, but somehow we feel less secure when the person is an individual without a company as a backup.

Anyone who are using the service of a freelancer can share their experiences?

Help Needed! Business Loan

Hi All,

Help needed from the expert. Any ideas/suggestion is appreciated.

I have a business that require business loan. The business is steady for almost 2 years. Recently I got sole distributors for MNC company in US to distribute health products in Malaysia. I have received several LPO from government customers but now I require bigger loan terms. I have 'pertanian' land that I can make as collateral but I'm not sure where I should apply loan. Will RHB or CGC take into consideration? Usually how long is the processing time?
