Install Windows 7 on Vostro 5460 with Intel SRT

Hi folks,

I have a spanking new Vostro 5460 with 32GB mSATA drive. The laptop comes with Windows 8 but I want to reformat the laptop and reinstall it with Windows 7 64bit.
The question is how do I install Windows 7 with Intel Smart Response Technology (SRT) turned on?

I have tried the following:
1. Set HDD in Intel SRT mode then begin to install Windows 7.
Stop by error when I can tried to load drivers for Intel SRT before installing Windows 7.
The error says, I am loading a unsigned driver when actually then driver is signed by Dell.

2. Set HDD in AHCI mode then begin to install Windows 7. OS installed on SATA drive. mSATA left untouch.
Installed Intel SRT drivers and other drivers. Restarted and found SRT service not running (shown in taskbar).
Reboot into bios turned on Intel SRT mode. Reboot and greeted with BSOD. Then go into Repair mode.

Hi Guys,

Not sure if anyone has asked this question but here goes, what do I need to do to change in DIR615 to make the port 4 works for other devices like notebooks or netwrok printers. I have login into operator and changed the Port Mapping to using WAN1, but it doesn't seem to work. Any other suggestions?

I don't use IPTV and I don't want to use a custom firmware. Please help.

What about the SIM card? I understand iPhone uses micro SIM cards. Can I get the normal SIM card?

ICH9R RAID5 Support

I am planning upgrade from ICH8R mobo to ICH9R (P35) mobo. Although ICH8R supports 6 SATA ports, it only can support 4 drives in RAID5 mode and does not support RAID enhancement. Does anyone know if ICH9R supports 6 drives in RAID5 and RAID enhancement.

From the Intel Storage Matrix v7.5 when setting up RAID 5 I saw that you can select up to 6 driver. But too bad it doesn't support RAID enhancement. I guess that it why you buy standalone RAID controllers like AMCC, etc.
