[WTresolve] Complaint againts me

Hi, guys,

I am back from Sabah and now, its time for me to respond. as stated in my previous thread, it was hard for me to respond to the forum because access to the internet was rare there. Moreso, i was in a project, so we were required to move from site to site.

As i have resolved most of the refunds, i believe that i shall act accordingly once i am back in at my own residence.

What i would like to clarify is that a user by the nickname of joyii00 responded on the thread, in support of me. It was mistaken that that ID was a clone of mine and that i hid under his ID. I would like to clarify to everyone that, that ID is not mine and if possible, i would like the mods to come into this matter to verify that that ID has no connections whatesover to me. Joyi00 is a long time user from the server. I did not know that he had created a new account (previous deals were done on msn) . If you guys want, i can provide his bank statements and his msn address as proof since we've been dealing for the past few months already. With his permission, i could proceed in posting his msn address so you guys could verify with him, by calling him / smsing him.

Since i have done my part, i urge the thread starter to remove my information and his posts as i feel it was degratory to my personal life. If i was indeed a scammer, i could have run off with the money, and it would be his rights to post and keep the information. However, i have done my part, and as some users have sent me a PM, he did not try to resolve the matter verbally when he indeed was adviced to do so , upon receiving my number. He proceeded to defame me by opening the thread without taking any initiative beforehand.

As this matter my be serius since my name would come up with the google search (some employees would search up their employee names before hiring them), i urge the mod to either remove the thread, or for him to remove my details.

Thread : http://forum.lowyat.net/topic/1695997/+40

Edit, A PM has been sent to the thread starter ' Mr.Lonely ',

» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «

hi just to clarify again, joyi00 account is not mine.

Please ask the mods to check, if you're unable to verify. I have enough msn logs , from my dealings with him, so he is not anonymous.

Anyways, i have done my part, you should do yours by removing my details, and whoever that have quoted your post, should be asked to remove theirs too, as this is defamation. You must understand that i have not ran away, so this is injustice on my part. If you want to remain hard headed, we can resolve this matter verbally. If you want , you may call me , like you were adviced in the first place. If not, please provide your number, and i shall call you.

By the way, please check this link: http://forum.lowyat.net/topic/1695997/+40

TMPOINT Seremban Claims System Down

Hello guys, is there anyway for us to verify this?

A friend of mine went to TM POINT Seremban (Jalan Dato' Bandar Tunggal) yesterday to apply for her unipack package (2MB package) and was told that their system is down so they cannot process her application. They asked her to come back the next day. She went again today morning and once again was told that the system was down. The person in charge then told her to only come back next week to apply.

Is it really true that their system is down, because i find this hard to believe. How can we verify this? Who should we give a call to actually know if the system is up or down?

Dead Motherboard?

Tried turning on my desktop today (Pentium D machine). The lights on the cd rom drive would blink and the FAN would spin at full speed just like it does when the cpu usage is usually at 100%. However, there is no POS boot sound like there usually is and my monitor couldn't detect any display. This shows that my mobo is dead right?

Starting a script from scratch

Hello, I am providing a service where users can add their stuff to the server and the server would download it for them. My question is, i'd like to create some sort of database where they could access , and it would show their username , when their account would expire and how long more until their account expire (days, hours, minutes, seconds). Also the link to access their ftp folder + their storage folder which i would provide (each user has a different port for their storage). I could do it in html but it's too time consuming. As i have quite a number of users, it would take up time to manually edit everything each time. Therefore , i don't think it would be efficient in this. I have very little knowledge in php but a little guidance would definitely be great.

LAN not accesable when network under Linux Machine

Ok guys, Another issue has come up.

So once i have setup the network , with the linux machine running squid (to allow only allowed websites to be accessable by the employees)

Now my network structure is as below :-

Now , some details.

Linux machine = Fedora 11
the ETH1 for the linux machine is 192.168.1.5
the ETH0 for the linux machine is 192.168.0.2

All computers that are accessing the machine , are running windows XP.

Their LAN ip's has to be configured to access the squid proxy that is running under the Linux Machine. For example, computer A :

Ip address (Set Manually) : 192.168.0.3
Subnet mask (Default) : 255.255.255.0
Default Gateway : 192.168.0.2

In Computer A's IE, the LAN setting to enable the connections through squid is:

IP address: 192.168.1.5
port: 3128

The computers are able to access the internet through squid. However, these computers have LAN sharing among them. via "my networking neighbourhood" where the employees access one pc and another. However, once they're connected through the linux machine, this is blocked all together.

This is the current situation that i witnessed. Computer 1 that is configured to go through the linux machine, could access machines that their ip address + default gateway is as default, which is for example,

Ip address : 192.168.1.12
Default Gateway : 192.168.1.1

However, computer 1 couldn't access to , say computer 3 which has already been configured to go through the Linux Machine.

I have tried installing shorewall on the linux machine. However i found that the guides were quite confusing and now i am at a loss. What should i do , so that , the machine only filters out their HTTP request, that is that they are forced to access the internet via squid, but their internal computer networks are not affected , which is they can connect to one another.

Additional note, Say comp A setting is :

Ip address (Set Manually) : 192.168.0.3
Subnet mask (Default) : 255.255.255.0
Default Gateway : 192.168.0.2

and comp B setting is :

Ip address (Set Manually) : 192.168.0.4
Subnet mask (Default) : 255.255.255.0
Default Gateway : 192.168.0.2

. If i were to connect to computer B via my networking neighboorhood, it wont connect to the network. However, if i were to try to ping computer B from computer A, "ping 192.168.0.4" the pings would be replied. If i were to use this command "net view 192.168.0.4" I could see their shared folders. However when i were to use the "net use" command, it'll say network name not found. What is your advice on this guys?

Just one more reminder, shorewall has been insatlled. However, i have no idea on how to configure it to enable the network as i have explained. Fedora's default firewall has been turned off.
Using Outlook Express when network is under Squid

Ok guys, recently, i posted a question here about setting up a network to block sites from an office. Well , it is done now, thanks to alot of members who provided some very usefull input.

Right now, i have setup the network in the office. The only problem is, the main person (boss) wants to use outlook express, but while under the squid network it's not possible. He doesn't want to use the webmail so there is no alternative. I tried to google, but the results said it was impossible for squid to handle Outlook express request since it only handles http and ftp. Anything beyond that, and it'll not work. So what is the possible solution for this?

Right now , this is the networking structure.

Modem --> Linux Machine (SQUID) --> Switch --> Client PCs + Boss's PC

Is there anything i could do from within the SQUID machine to allow the Boss to access, and retrieve his emails via Outlook express?

Or would i have to purchase a seperate switch and connect it to the linux machine + Boss's PC via the modem?

This is our current network structure.

This is what i have in mind, if there is no solution to enable Outlook express from within the squid machine. That is to get an additional switch that connects the modem directly to the Boss's PC + the modem connects to the Squid machine as well.

Setting Up Proxy Server in Office to block Sites

My friend called me up today requesting for help.

He has about 15 employees in his firm and most of them are surfing the internet, to sites that are not allowed during worktime (movie streaming, chatting and so on). He wants to block their usage totaly and only allow them to access sites that are allowed , which are set by him. What is the best method to be used?

Right now, 15 computers are connected to a switch and the switch connects directly to a router+modem.

My idea is, To get an extra computer, Fit it with 2 network cards. All the 15 computers would connect to the switch and the switch would connect to the computer which acts as a router. The extra network card on the computer would connect to the router/modem. Now, the computer will act as a proxy server where, all the users would have to enter a set of ip address in their browser to be able to access the internet.

Now this is the tricky part. The software for the proxy would require them to enter their own set of username and password. The owner would set their username and password in the proxy computer to just enable to to visit sites that are allowed by him whereas all other sites are blocked. Say, User A is only allowed to access "www.bankA.com" and all other sites are blocked. User B is only allowed to access "www.bankC.com" and "www.agentA.com" and all other sites are blocked.

If we were to use Windows XP, i believe we would need to enable windows internet sharing to share the connection from 1 computer to the rest. However, what software would enable us to do as mentioned above?

If we were to use Linux, say Ubuntu or Debian, Is "squid" sufficient enough to do the tasks as above?

And what are the procedures to share the internet from the main computer ( proxy server ) to the rest (clients) ?

I will be visiting lowyat by this week and am planning to purchase an external sound card. I have a netbook and my desktop so by purchasing the external sound card, i could use it on both of my machines.

Right now, i am torn between the Asus Xonar U1 and the Creative X-Fi surround USB. I would like to know which one is recomended?

My speaker set is : Sonic Gear ENZO 4000. I am not going to use it for gaming as i don't game on my machines. I will not use it for music as well. I am planning to use it only for Movies and tv shows.

Which one of these would suit me better?

Oh if possible, do recomend me a good headphone to go with the soundcard that is suitable for movie watching. My budget for the headphone would be below RM200.

Thank you.
Maxtor Basics Desktop Storage Problem

I have a Maxtor Basics Desktop Storage and one of them, stopped working today. I bought it last Nov/Dec during the PCfair from thundermatch and used it only last week when my other drive was full. So today, out of a suddenly it stopped working. The front light doesn't light up and the harddisk makes a funny buzzing noise every few seconds. So i think it's probably dead.

How do i reclaim the warranty for it? I tried searching for the Maxtor Basics Desktop storage in their website (both seagate and maxtor) and i couldn't find anything about it. So could i send it to thundermatch to RMA it or should i call maxtor malaysia personally? Where can i obtain their contact number if i should call maxtor?

It looks like this:

Need some help to program an automated task

I noticed that sometimes, after long hours of torrenting / downloading, my router hangs / freezes. I either have to login to it via my browser or telnet and then reboot it there for me to be able to connect to the internet and resume my downloading activities.

Is there any way / any coding that could be done in this following sequence. (something like tunnel rat but more advanced)

1. When you're connected to the net, every few seconds the program sends a ping command to a website, example google. If the ping is replied, it means that the connection is working.
2. When the router freezes, the program would get a host not found from the ping. Right after that, it would telnet to the router, via run command "telnet 192.168.1.1" and then enter the login info : admin and password : admin and then send a command which is "reboot" which would then force the router to reboot.
3. Once connected the program will monitor again just like in step 1.

Is it possible?

*Please take note that, when torrenting, i download from Private trackers where users seed from their dedicated server, so i don't have to open / enable a large number of open connections to reach to the seeders / leechers. But regardless, either torrenting or downloading off FTP / HTTP servers, the modem frezzes randomly. This has happen to a few of my modems, from Tmnet's default ZTE modem (blue) , Dlink 520-T, Dlink 520-B and now, an asus wireless router+modem (WL-AM604g)*

There is no way to fix the modem to stay running without hanging, i believe, so the only solution is for the program to reboot it once it detecs that there is no more network activity, aka, modem crashed / froze / hang.

[WTA] A Question about Graphic card and Monitors

CPU: Intel Pentium D CPU 2.80GHZ
MOBO: Aspire E500
RAM: 1.5 GB DDR2 667MHz Kingston RAM
GPU: ATI Radeon X550

I have been using this graphic card for about 2 years now with my 19" Square LCD. A few months back, my brother bought a new computer that came with a 22" Wide Screen Monitor, and when i tried to use the monitor with my computer, The monitor wouldn't Start up. If i were to shut down my computer and remove the power completely and only leave power to the monitor, the monitor would start up normally. When the monitor is used on my brother's computer, There isn't any problem at all. So i believe it has something to do with my Graphic Card.

Recently, i plan to purchase a 24" Dell Monitor that is a widescreen monitor and i'm afraid that the same issue might occur. So i believe i would need to get a newer Graphic Card as well. A seller asked me to update my driver and then i can use the 22" monitor which i tried , but there were no changes. The 22" LCD still failed to work.

Now , i would like to know:

1) My MOBO comes with a built in ATI Graphic Processing Unit. Does that mean, my MOBO would support only ATI Graphic Cards?

2) My rig is about 3 Years old, will the newer graphic cards work on it?

3) I would like to get a cheap graphic card (As i am not a PC gamer, i don't need a high end card) , So which one is recomended that would work on my computer? I would like one that would support the 24" Wide Screen Monitor and that could run the full resolution of the monitor. My budget would be around RM100 ~ RM2xx . I plan to use the monitor for my Computer and the xbox360(doesn't have anything to do with the GPU).

Netbook or HTPC

I Plan to get a small computer so that i can leave it on while i'm asleep so it could downlod and seed torrents for me. I don't want to use my current desktop Pc as it's a powerhog. I want a small comp solely for torrenting and uses less power.

I was thinking of either a htpc or a netbook.

Thing is , with a netbook, i can take it anywhere i want . A htpc, i can take it where i want too but i would need a monitor too.

Anyways , which one is better to be left on , say , 24/7 non stop for Torrenting purposes. I know a htpc will be able to handle it , but what about a netbook? Assuming that the original battery is not used , and it's hooked up to a exteral power source. (I don't really mind about the specs that htpc's are more powerfull than netbooks , Just want to know if it could sustain the power to run 24/7 non stop for torrenting.)

I am thinking ,Lenovo IdeaPad S10 Notebook as a suitable netbook. So guys, present your opinions

How to setup a windows XP PC as a router

How do i Setup this, so that my Windows XP professional PC may act as a router. The reason is , i have a few devices connect and would really like to limit the bandiwith that they use.

Here is my network configuration.

Now, i would like to setup my pc , (windows XP pro) to work as a router as i previously stated. What i understand is, those 2 other Devices would connect to my pc while my pc makes a bridge connection to the ADSL Modem that i have?

I hope someone can lay a guide on this

I was thinking of getting a Debit Card from AmBank to send funds to my paypal account.

Here are my questions:-

1. Is the card only available in 7-11 and AmBank's branch?

2. How do i top up to send the money over to my paypal?

3. What if i were to withdraw my money from paypal?

4. What is the minimum ammount of money i must send to my paypal when topping up?

5. Any other alternative to this debit card?

That would be all
