Working harddrive not detected by BIOS

Hi guys

I have a toshiba notebook C640, and there is a problem with it.it did not boot the windows. Stuck at toshiba screen.
I check on the bios, and the hard drive is not detected by the BIOS.

At first i thougt the matter was with the harddrive, so i took off the hard drive from the laptop and connect it to computer using HDD case. And surprisingly the hdd is working fine.

So next thing come in my mind was BIOS. So i decided to flash the BIOS with newer version. Before that, i did little tweak in the BIOS by change the HDD mode, originally is AHCI and i change it to IDE mode and switch back to AHCI. Coz i know My laptop was formatted AHCI. And restart my laptop.

Unexpectedly...it booted into the desktop. And i tried to restart to ensure it solves the problem. Next restart i cant boot in again. I check On bios again, hdd still not detected.

So i just proceed with the BIOS upgrade. After upgrading, i went into the bios, still doenst do any better. Hdd still not detected. I tried to change the harddisk mode like i did before i flashed the bios and switch it back to original mode. And after restart it worked,i can boot into the windows.

However after restart my comp, it doenst detect any bootable device again. So my conclusion is, whenever i want to boot my laptop in windows i have to do the changes on the hdd mode. Even though hdd not detected in bios, i still can boot in windows.

Is there any way to fix this problem? I hope my explanation is understood. Any comment and solution will be very appreciated.

Notebook Restart after Shutdown

Hi guys

my notebook was struck by lightning that caused The LAN adaptor broken. I went to the Device manager it doenst show the LAN Adaptor anymore, but that is ok. Another problem that give me headache is when i shutdown my notebook, it turns on it self.

the only way i can turn off my computer is to press the power button for few seconds. (hard shutdown). After searching through google, it seems that the WAKE ON LAN, that causes the notebook to turn on it self after shutdown. i tried to explore in BIOS to see whether i can somehow disable the WAKE ON LAN, but i find nothing related to him in BIOS.

anyone have idea what should i do, before i bring it to repair shop?

HP mini Test Drive Failed, Status 7

Hi guys

i have a hp mini, which cant boot into windows, it will restart every time it shows up windows logo loading. after that i tried to go to bios to do primary hard disk self test, it shows up error status 7. however the laptop still can read the harddisk, which shown model in the Bios.

so i try to boot in using windows live cd to do chkdsk in command prompt, it was working for a while , able to boot into windows, but, after using for few hours the same problem appears again, when i restart the laptop.

i did again the chkdsk through the windows live cd, but it doenst work anymore this time.

so..anyone, can give me idea what is happening to the drive?

Say , i want to take out 10GB from G: drive for C: drive, how to do it?

I'm going to introduce something that might be New and Fresh . . Its Kopi Luwak, Originally from Indonesia. Anyway there are other countries in asia like philipines, and vietnam, also produce this type of coffee, but they dont call it Kopi Luwak. The word kopi luwak is originated from Indonesian,
"kopi" means Coffee and "Luwak" means Civet. Luwak or Civet is a type of an animal, im not sure how to describe this animal but i will present a picture, pictures tell thousand words.

Further research by Dr. Massimo Marcone at the University of Guelph (Ontario, Canada) has shown that the civet's endogenous digestive secretions actually penetrate the beans. These secretions contain proteolytic enzymes which 'digest' the proteins thereby producing more smaller peptides and more free amino acids when compared to the control beans (beans not having been digested by the civet). These smaller peptides and proteins are known to be involved in Maillard browning reactions (non-enzymatic) upon roasting which is essentially exposure to high heat. As proteins are partially responsible for coffee's flavor, it is hypothesized that the change in the number and type of proteins in the civet beans contribute to the unique flavor. [10]

Verification of this theory was performed in Vietnam in 1996 by a team of German scientists contracted by Trung Nguyen Coffee Company[11] to study the changes that take place during the coffee beans' processing through the civet digestive tract. An analysis was performed and six specific enzymes were isolated, and a synthetic process using these enzymes was developed to simulate the natural effect.

A common misconception of Kopi Luwak coffee is that it is a specific coffee type. However, it is actually many different types of coffee that have been through a specific process that results in taste and body similarities. All Kopi Luwak does not taste identical, because civets may dine on any variety of Arabica, Robusta or other species of beans in the environment, and the bean variety greatly affects the underlying taste of the result. However, Kopi Luwak coffees share a similar aroma profile, lack of bitterness, and some flavor characteristics that gourmets of the coffee genre recognize among the many varieties.

While it has been referred to as the world's best coffee, taste is subjective, and the different production modes of Kopi Luwak around the world bring varying results. While the effect of the taste on the consumer is subjective, certain objective observations can be made. Typically, coffees of exceptionally smooth profile are given a lighter roast, because they will not exhibit a "raw" or bitter taste from light roasting. Most Kopi Luwak roast levels approximate Cinnamon (named for color, not taste) to Medium roast. Therefore, Kopi Luwak may not appeal to an aficionado of heavy roast coffee, if the taste elements enjoyed by the consumer include the changes in bean taste that result from the caramelization of sugars within the beans that occurs at high temperatures.

Typically gourmets of coffee agree, however, that the exceptional aroma and "high notes" of Kopi Luwak are unique, that the lack of bitterness is highly desirable, and some elusive and highly pleasing tastes of coffee are released through the enzyme process and cannot be duplicated any other way. Icing the brew also seems to bring out some flavors that cannot be found in other coffee processes.

I would definitely recommend using a french press because it gets a little messy to drink without it. The taste is very subtle but very strong aroma. Dont be surprised by it's extremely black color because it's not bitter at all. The coffee is just like any other coffee to me just minus the super caffeine kick, super after taste and super bitterness that any normal coffee would leave behind. I guess its' mild texture is what makes kopi luwak special.

One more important thing is, this coffee's flavour stays more on the top of the throat compare to other coffee`s flavour that stay at the back bottom of the throat. But the flavour really last darn freaking long, a cheap coffee flavour will mostly b gone after 5 times slowing saliva and onli left bitterness instead of flavour n aroma. GOOD PRODUCT !!

Owh, i forget this. Other coffee, no matter how good it is, will turn sour once its cold. But this didnt happen to my kopi luwak. I guess this is where the fermentation progess in the animal changes the structure !! Bravo !!

{HELP}Hang and Restart on ga-ep31-ds3l

Hi guys...

i have a problem with my new specs.

my comp specs are:

proce : intel C2D E7200
board : GA-EP31-ds3l
GC : Gforce 8600 gt
Ram: 2 Gb corsair, 1066mhz
windows xp pro sp3

since after i installed the windows and started to run my pc, i encountered problem which my pc, always hang and restart by its self. it hangs frequently about few minutes after i turn on my comp. when it hangs i have no choice except to restart, sometimes after i restart it wouldnt happen anymore.

when it restart , it displays a bluescreen and some wording in a second, so i cant read what are the errors. It doesnt always restart, but it happens in unpredictable manner.
i am sure that i installed the hardware properly, and my comp is free from virus.

i just run of idea why my new spec could have such a problem. i just registered to this forum, so i hope there are people who can me...in solving my prob.
