[Guide]How to AUTO Shut Down Ur Rig If Overheated

Actually, I not sure that whether this guide have been posted before or not. If yes, please close this thread (thx mods). But after seeing what happen on amd_hardcore's WC set due to pump failure, I think it is better for me to post a simple guide on "How to AUTO Shut Down Your Rig IF Overheated" by using a very simple combo software; Speedfan + Super Fast Shutdown. Personally, I do think this guide is not only for Watercooling user but Air Cooling user too as fans on heatsink do break down too.

Oh ya... I am sure some of you guys going to flame me on saying that "My motherboard can auto shut down too after setting it in bios". But guys, not every motherboard have those functions especially on older motherboard. Besides that, I think there is nothing wrong to have an extra protection for our computer as it is one of most useful and expensive stuff in our house.

Cut the story short. Here its goes..

1. Download Speed Fan (Last stable ver. 4.33: DOWNLOAD LINK)

2. Download Super Fast Shut Down (DOWNLOAD LINK)

3. Install both of the software.

4. Making Speedfan to load during Windows Startup. The easiest way to do this is by adding a shortcut to startup folder. Normally under "C:\Documents and Settings\"Your Computer Name"\Start Menu\Programs\Startup"

5. Determine which temp in Speed Fan reading is your CPU, NB, GPU and so on.
E.g. Temp 1: 27'C is my NB temp, Temp 2: 15'C is my CPU temp, Core: 46'C is my Graphic Card's core temp and so on.

6. Here come the crucial parts.
Click on "Configure" button >> Go to "Events" tab >> By using the information you obtained, you need to fill up those blank space as it is the 'conditions' on when your rig need to auto shut down. Should be piece of cake to people that learn some basic programming before.

7. In order to make things easier to understand, please see the screen shot below as its clearly show my current setting. I have 3 settings for my SpeedFan.

i) IF "Temp2" > "40" execute "C:\Program Files\Super Fast Shutdown\shutdown.exe"
This means when Temp2 (my CPU temp) go over 40'C, SpeedFan will run the Super Fast Shutdown program. Thus, my computer will shut down.

ii) IF "Fan1" < "3500" execute "C:\Program Files\Super Fast Shutdown\shutdown.exe"
This means when Fan1 (my Watercooling MCP655B Pump RPM, yes MCP655B come with RPM wires and I plug it to my CPU fan plug on my motherboard) go below 3500 RPM, SpeedFan will run the Super Fast Shutdown program. Thus, my computer will shut down. This is because MCP655B constantly run at 4300 RPM, so if it is running below that. This means its going to die real soon.

iii) IF "Core" > "75" execute "C:\Program Files\Super Fast Shutdown\shutdown.exe"
This means when Core (my Graphic Cards temp) go over 75'C, SpeedFan will run the Super Fast Shutdown program. Thus, my computer will shut down.

All these setting is set according to my own setup and its only serve as reference. You can play with the numbers to suit your setup and so on. If you need more explanation on all the 'conditions', please go to "The HOW-TO is online at www.almico.com" link at the bottom of "Events" tab.

8. To test your setup, you can set your CPU shut down temp lower (like 20'C in my setup) and full load your computer using program like Orthos (DOWNLOAD LINK)

LianLi V2000B Plus II Under WaterCooling

Hi guys...

This is my first worklog about a small project of mine. So don't flame if its sounds a bit noobish. Anyway, I should posted this few weeks back but been very busy with benching and competition. So here is it.

During the last SilverStone Lan Party, I got 'poisoned' by all the other water-cooled rig. Soon after that, I started to learn all about WC and finalizing all the parts that I need to get and soon realized that I had a major problem. My LianLi PC-G7B is too small for my WC set unless doing a heavy modification on it. But decided against that, LianLi case is simply too nice to go under the jigsaw.

After having a hard time choosing between SilverStone Temjin TJ-07, Antec P182, LianLi PC-G70 and LianLi V2000B Plus II, I decided to get a LianLi V2000B Plus II because its fit better with my concept of putting a triple fans radiator WC set into the case with minimum modification and more future proof (a lot of space for expansion).

So I think that's all for the introduction part for the work log. Let's get down to business.

An Lian Li HDD Rack; EX-33B, Lian Li 3.5" Temp Sensor LCD and a custom made 4 channel fan controller built on Lian Li Bezel (3*1.5A and 1*5A)

The outer box of my LianLi V2000B Plus II. Just brought it back from ATE @ Lowyat Plaza; the sole distributor of LianLi casing in Malaysia.

Let's see what is inside.

Weighted at gross 14kg. Its really one of the heaviest casing I ever used.

Accessories that come with the case. Its also come with few pieces of 'brownish' Moisture Absorbent Paper to keep the moisture to the minimum. A nice touch.

Front Looks

Rear Looks

A 2.5mm thick Full Aluminum Side Panel. Most of the weight of the casing came from two of these gigantic side panels. Its acts as the back bone of the casing. Thus, justify the thickness of the panel.

Internal Looks. As expected from Lian Li V series casing, everything is very solid built and can fit a magnificent 12 HDD and 7 5.25" Drive. Should be enough even for the most hardcore computer user.

Let's start the process of disassembling of the unneeded parts.

After removing all of HDD cage, you will notice there is a lot of factory-drilled 'holes' at the bottom of the casing. Actually, this is one of the main reasons I chose Lian Li V2000B over the other brands casing as I can install my triple fan radiator without minimum modding as you can see on the next picture.

tomorrow i am going to trade with ask_know (a member since January 2003). i am buying a processor from him and he giving me 3 days personal warranty in case any problem. he only informed me about his name is Ahmad and Phone num.

so i am wondering am i paranoid to ask for his Full Name and IC Num in case the processor really is faulty? i am worry i dont know where to find him if the processor is faulty.

i did asked for the full name and IC num. he told me that i dont have to know his IC num because i havent made any payment and he is a Malays, so he wont cheat me.

i am planning to get a CPU Cooler for my comp. Planning to get either Scythe Infinity or Zalman CNPS9500-LED, but i am more tend toward CNPS9500-LED. the problem now is i am not sure whether Zalman CNPS9500 can fit into my mobo or not due to 'Dual Power System 2' card that located beside my processor socket. can you guys have a look and advise me on this? i already pm moderno and zalman official but they didnt provide me with any answer. that's why, i am asking it here.

i just modify a 80mm fan on my side panel. the main reason is to cool down my vga card. currently my config is the 80mm fansucking the hot air out from my rig. so i just wondering which one is better? sucking the hot air out from computer OR make it like a blow hole.

btw, i have a 120mm fan at the rear of my casing, 80mm fan at the top of the casing and 2 80mm fan infront of the casing(intake)

since last year, i am using 1mb streamyx line. yesterday, my connection got disconnected for like 5 hours. when i connect back, i noticed that my line became 2048 and my download speed went up till 150++ (normally around 95). i am wondering is streamyx upgrade its current package or there is some problem with my line.

How to Remove This Spyware?

Basically, my story goes like this. I went out for a drink and when i got back, my friend downloaded some software into my comp. Then my comp starting to act strangely, alot of pop up appear saying that my comp infected with virus and asked me to download this and that. Knowing that it is a spyware or virus, i disconnected my internet connection and started to clean my comp with the tool and knowledge i have. I used Spyware Doctor and Eset's NOD32 to perform a full scan on comp in normal window mode and safe mode. Managed to clean 90% of the spyware BUT there had been some survivor. Please refer to pic below.

My antivirus and antispyware program cant 'detect' this left over. Thus, cant remove it. These left over will pop up a ballon every 3 mins and direct me to a website called www.virusburst.com. I tried everything i have and know, so i am desperate for an answer. Pro and sifu of lowyat, please help me. Please enlight me on the solution or software that i can use.
