Laptop Repair

Normally how long does it take to repair faulty laptop under warranty by HP(HP service centre)? mine is HP dv6 6001tx which has a faulty keyboard (certain letter keep appear as the key is pressed which is not). fyi I am in Kuantan.

So I wonder what the normal repair time? 2 weeks? feel so long. now close to 2weeks.

Dear All,

Here the symptom of my pc

When boot up, no display at monitor at all, when I change DVI connector to other one ( gc has two) occasionally successfull. or when i take out gc from motherboard and put it back again it may working again. And then another boot up, it failed again, Also there is sound of my dvd rom during boot up, like try to spin and then stop (repeat).

Is this GC or motherboard problem? or power supply?

My comp spec (old comp)

AMD athlon 64 x2 6000+
4gb ram
MSI motherboard (forgot model no)
ZOTAC 9600GSO
CoolerMaster 460W

Dear All,

My dv6 randomly behave like x button being pressed but when i pressed z button it stops for a while and after that it happen again. This is annoying.

I scan for a virus not found. But the x button is not physically look stuck at keyboard. I already format my laptop but it keep happening. Help meeeeeeeee

no2 and v button also not responding anymore. Sometime when boot up, long beep sound is heard and laptop fail to start. when I restart several time it manage to load to windows 7

1) How to temporary disable keyboard laptop?

2) Any possible cause for this?

I am willing to spend 2.5k on tablet. This is my first tablet, I already have froyo smartphone and decided to have tablet for my work and entertainment.

I need tablet for:

Web browsing
email
social networking
reading news
lite gaming

at work:
reading pdf files and word and powerpoint files

Just for ur info, HWM issue Feb 2011 conducted tablets comparison of current available at the market from following criteria:
1) OS
2) Battery capacity
3) User Interface
4) Processor
5) Screen size and weight
6) File format Support

And the winner is iPad and Samsung Galaxy Tab.

Which android tablet should I go for? Do I need to wait for honeycomb + dual core processor tablet coming to malaysia? How long it will be? Is it worth it?

For current availabe device, is samsung galaxy tab really good? advice pleaszz

9600GSO Replacement

Guys I need suggestion,

Situation: I just upgrade my lcd to 21.5"1920x1080, unfortunately 9600gso can't give satisfied framerate (less 30) for game (I play LFD2). I need to change my gc to current midstream model that able to give satisfied fps @max resolution for playing games (heavy game excluded like crysis).

Limitation: Budget no more than RM500 and my power supply is CM extreme power 460watt only.

PC spec is ( 2 year old system) AMD athlon 64 x2 6000+ 3.0 ghz , 4gb ddr2, 9600gso, 460watt coller master

Please give me suggestion for both Nvidia and ATI cards with price..

Windows Password protected software

I need a good software that ask for password every time my computer turn on, log in or restart from hibernation. No trial software

And pleasee other than windows account method or guest account method.

Lightning Strike

I got question about warranty and RMA. Here is the situation..

My house and near area got struck but lightning last night but no visible damage outside. But it wipe out several pc component of my pc and my mother pc.

Here the affected hardware.

My Mother PC:

1) Samsung SyncMaster 740N 17 inch LCD -- it no longer functioning (still in warranty)

My PC

1) Asus EN8600GT 256 mb -- it display windows with no color except blue (warranty expired) already tested it and confirmed its my GC.
2) AZTECH ADSL Modem -- LAN cannot detect modem as well dsl lamp not blinking at all (lucky i have backup dsl modem)
3) TP-Link PCI Ethernet Card-- already replaced today

My question:

1) Is warranty for hardware above cover for lightning strike especially LCD? I lost all warranty card except receipt from shop that I purchased...
2) Is there any chance that my GC can be revive by any means? or do I need to buy a new one? (no money)
3) Please suggest me a hardware that protect my pc from lightning strike and I can get it from online purchase.

Fact:

1) My house struck by Lightning 3 times in past 6 month
2) I live in Terengganu and all hardware above is bought at Lowyat Plaza except LCD.

Fresh graduate strategies

I wonder what's the best strategies and approach for fresh graduate to secure first job?

Other than respond to opening by company, Is it wise to send application to company that do not state vacancies for graduate position?

Do online application receive adequate attention from employer other than conventional method which is by mail (hard copy)? or Is it OK to apply to same company with both method at the same time for the same position?

I'm seeking opinion from forumer here. Thank you for your responds and opinion regarding this matter.

Board of Engineer Malaysia (BEM) requires graduate engineer to get Ir. approval to certify copy of academic transcript along with other documents. The problem is I didn't know any Ir to approve my transcript. Seems my close friends also didn't know one? Any solution?

Hello audiophiles fella,

An update from my case. I went to the shop for warranty, and shockingly they replaced with the new one of Samsung U4-QB. They suspected for virus which I really don't think so but I feel much relieved then waiting for my first mp3 to be fixed. Then here the stories..

I completed the recommended charging period for my newly mp3 and just inserted a few of my favorite songs (mostly metallica ) and i enjoyed it for one day. After that, my mp3 behave just like my old one . I can't turn on the device and when i plugged in USB to charge and transfer files nothing happened. It just unresponsive. I don't believe virus did the damage because I subscribed Kaspersky 2009 and always scan my pc as well as my mp3 player. And all song i put in this samsung U4 already been played by my previous mp3 player which is philips without a single problem.

I suspected this U4 has an internal corrupted electronic or firmware version. It happen to me twice. Same model. Same shop. Two mp3 .I'm going to that shop again soon.

Care any comments?
