Good evening all Do we have anyone here who is currently working in Sweden? I would appreciate if you can share your experiences working in the land of svenska.. I am considering a transfer there and I have a few questions in mind..

1. How is the cost of living there? How much approximately would be the cost for rental, food, transportation Etc? At what amount a month would be sufficient to survive there?
2. Tax for foreign staff. How is the percentage like?
3. I know there's union in the company there.. But can a foreign staff on working permit be part of a union and be protected by it?

Is anything else that I should be aware of? Will add more questions when it comes to my mind later.. Kinda late now thanks in advance guys!

I love the blackberry and even used one (now passed to my wife) but unfortunately I have to get something else because I need access to my company's email (Microsoft Exchange) but they've recently revoked blackberry email services...so Blackberry is out from my list now...

Any good QWERTY phones to recommend? The only requirements I need in the phone are Ms exchange (email/calender/contacts) and good battery life... Thanks in advance guys!

Hi all CCTV Si Fu, could you please guide me how to export/save/backup a video for a particular time frame in DVRNET software? I've selected the date and time plus camera numbers..I've also selected the destination to save it in C: but after clicking OK, nothing happens..

I'm kinda new in this PC DVRNET software...helping my dad out and unfortunately he lost the user manual...all the while we just view back the videos but we've never exported a video out before...

Hey guys, anyone of you who works in the IT department of AstraZeneca Malaysia? I've done some research and found that most of its IT infrastructure are managed by IBM and Infosys. (Kindly correct me if my info is wrong)
I've tried to search this forum for info regarding AstraZeneca but it seems most are working in sales line instead of IT. And I think their IT hubs are mainly in US,UK and Sweden..

If anyone is working there, how's the culture and working environment there? Is the IT department based in Damansara Heights?

[Home DIY] Tripped Fuse box tripped

Hi all...I post this here since this is the closest section for Home stuff...
Need help from all Si Fus here..recently an electrical applicance short circuit and caused two of the fuse in the fuse box to be tripped permanently. (Can't push it back up) So now the some of the switches cannot be used. :(

So the questions are:
1. Can I replace the faulty fuse individually?
2. How much does it cost?
3. Advisable for my to DIY the replacement? (I will pull down the main fuse switch. Is there still danger?)
4. Anything that I should take note when shopping for a replacement?

What will you do and what will be your approach to ask for a high increment?
Your scenario is the following:

- Working in IT MNC. But under renewable 1 year contract to Outsourcing company.
- Able to meet all deadlines and have been performing quite well.
- Well liked in the office. Colleagues, team leaders and managers. Not involved in any complicated office politics.
- Position is not management level. But above junior level.
- Appraisal and Salary Increment in 4 months time.
- served for 2 years in the company.
- Age: 24

What will you do if you are this person?

Recovering the content in my hard disk

Hi C_fu, first of all i would like to inform that I did a search for old topics on hard disk recovery but failed to find any useful information or guide on this. Most of the thread were already outdated and the scenario is abit different from mine.

Here it goes.

I have this 30GB hard disk. It's about 5 years old and i kept it in a dry and cool place for more than 1 year.
One day, i decided to take out the pictures from that hard disk and transfer it to my new laptop's hard disk.
The next thing i know is, the hard disk cannot be detected anymore in Windows. (Using IDE-USB converter/Enclosure to my laptop)

I got panic because my old photos and files are all in there. And I didn't have the complete backup of it. Only a small part of it in one CD.
So I tested it on my Dell PC to try my luck. The hard disk is detectable in BIOS but not in Windows.
Even in Disk management under Computer Management also cannot find it.

Any expert here or anyone with experience can shed some light to me?
I have also tried to search around in LYN.net to see if anybody can recover the files for me.
But most of them tell me they can try but it's not guaranteed. Some even charge too high until i cannot afford.

I am not sure if this is the correct place to post this...but I would like to suggest a new dedicated section in the forum to discuss on Home decoration, renovation, Interior design, Home electrical appliances, DIY, lightings, furnitures and all other stuff about doing up our home.

The closest I can get in this forum is "Business and Investment House" -> "Property talk"
I'm sure response will be quite good among the people who owns a house.
This can be a place for people to share knowledge and experience in turning their house into a home
