Decent replacement for Hifiman Re-400 iem?

Hi all,

I have had my Hifiman RE-400 as my daily driver for about 2-3 years. The cable sheath is breaking now (the rubber just sucks) and the inner copper wires are exposed in many parts. It's quite difficult to recable this iem due to its casing structure and I foresee it will be dead in another couple of weeks/months.

Is there any other IEM within the price range of RM200-350 that has similar sound quality and signature with RE-400?

My favourite genre is indie pop/pop/acoustic/vocal songs, so I like clean & neutral signature, good treble, good mid. Bass is good to have but not priority.

Basically if I can get another RE-400 with real good build quality it would be awesome but I don't trust hifiman IEMs now :/

Sifus please enlighten! Thank you.

[WTFind] Recabling service for IEM

Hi all,

I have a Hifiman RE-400 iem, it is only almost one year old and unfortunately the cable wrap that connects the Y-split part and the earpieces are breaking and I can see the copper wire inside already.

The iem is awesome so I really want to fix it before it really breaks further.

Is there anyone offering affordable recabling service? I don't need super good cables, in fact just the cable wrap itself is breaking, the copper strings inside are not.

I don't know how to fix the cable wrap, any sifu kindly advice~

I am in JB so if the service is in KL i would do postage. Thanks!

pics:
[attachmentid=4208022] [attachmentid=4208023]

Win 8 Explorer does not refresh

Hi all, I am using windows 8.1 on a Dell 15R SE laptop, so far didn't have problem but recently, the explorer does not refresh after I create new folder or delete files / move files / rename files etc.

I need to manually press F5 to make it refresh. I was frustrated and tried many ways including turning off Windows Write Cache Buffer Flushing for my HDD, still no use. Saving pics in browsers to hard disk have delay of about 5-8 seconds. I notice when I save it, my HDD takes 5 seconds to react to the save action to initiate the activity.

I don't think it is my HDD hardware problem, is there any solution to this? I google everywhere but only get solutions for Win7, but unfortunately doesn't work.

Thanks in advance!

Bump, anyone can help please

Lost Permission in various C drive

Hi all, before I continue, I am using Win8 Pro 64bit.

Recently I notice some weird behaviours, where the softwares installations exe I downloaded cannot be directly opened, they need to be right clicked > run as administrator.

The thing is there is only one user account in my PC and it is administrator, password-protected. Even the connect manager of my portable modem won't auto pop up after connecting, needs to go to the software directory and run as administrator.

I don't know what I can do because I am already the admin and already set the folders security permission correctly, but still the same. Dont want to reformat, anything I can do? I tried to google but not sure what keyword to use, can't get the results I want.

Thanks in advance!

Cannot Install Google Chrome

Hi all,

I have problem installing google chrome, in my Win8 pro 64 bit.

Previously installed chrome, but when I try to update in-app, it gives me Error 7, code 102.

I google around and tried the expand.exe and changing temp folder, it's still the same.

Then I uninstalled it and try to fresh install, even cleared all google-related folders (appdata, program files, registry) and still getting error 102.

I searched online but can't seem to find any answers relevant. Mostly ask me to fix the expand.exe and temp folder, but I already done that.

Anyone got similar problem before? I don't wish to reformat just to fix chrome. thanks!

File association is not permanent

I am on Windows 8 pro, my main app to view photos is Meitu Kankan (A chinese software, looks very alike with Picasa).

However even though I have set jpg and png files to always open with Meitu Kankan, everytime after I log off or restart, I open a jpg file it will prompt me to choose a default software again. I am sure it's not the software's problem because it happens to Picasa as well.

Anyone can test this for me? Is there any solution?

Is there removable camera compartment box?

I cannot find any thread relevant to ask this so I open a new thread. I want to find a removable compartment box like the one shown below

I already have a crumpler 7 million dollar home but I would like to use it casually as well, so hope to find a removable box like above to be more convenient when switching...

I can't find people selling in garage sales (or my searching keyword is incorrect). Anyone know if there's any brand carrying specifically these? I remember Kata bags used to have but I can no longer find in their website (and no reseller).

Thanks in advance.

Help! Laptop can't boot after install windows

I bought a Dell 15R SE with 32gb mSata SSD, I thought it can install new windows normally but I was wrong.
After windows installation it got BSOD, I was forced to change SATA mode from Intel RST (raid) to AHCI then it will boot without BSOD.

But if like this, I can't use mSata for caching because I can't set the mode to RAID! After many fuss I fed up and restored the factory image of C drive from Dell, but now all modes (ATA/AHCI/RAID) got BSOD when I boot!

I guess the SATA mode part got messed up but I am newbie in such stuff, now my new laptop is totally unusable.

Anyone has similar experience can help? Now I just want to restore everything to original state with mSata caching

Need help recommending <3.5k laptop

Hello guys, my friend is going to get a new laptop, he wants to get the best specs out of 3.5k because he got a sponsor from an educational scholarship, they sponsor him a laptop below 3.5k as long as provide them receipt.

So he wants to get a laptop at RM3.5k or max 3.6k. He doesn't play games, so I think best with 15", full HD for watching movies etc, good processor + RAM + decent graphics.

Now I have Dell 15R SE with 1080 screen (3399) and MSI GE620DX-675 in mind, Dell seems better but seems not available in lowyat plaza yet, anyone can confirm? He doesn't buy online so must visit physical shop.

Or is there any good recommendation? I guess ivy/sandy bridge is okay as long as worth that 3.5k.

Hello, I would like to order some items from gmarket (a korean ebay-like website) and they uses EMS to ship to me.

The problem is, my house is always empty except at night or during weekends. If the EMS came and no one is at home, how do I get the item?

Do I visit the post office or there is any EMS outlet? Or can ask them to resend to me?

Thanks in advance.

From July, the exposure of this mysterious type is increasing, which explains a problem that it is getting closer and closer to us. Recently, there is news that Canada’s second-largest telecommunications operator TELUS has already started preparing for the listing of the new machine. Maybe it will be launched on October 21.But we haven’t got any information about the listed price.

BlackBerry 9780 and 9700 is similar in appearance. The reason why RIM re-launch this classic model maybe is that they want to make some of its upgrade. The BlackBerry 9780 might will use the new BlackBerry OS 6.0 operating system, CPU frequency to 624MHz, a 2.4-inch screen, resolution 480 × 360 pixels remains, the back carrying a 5 million pixel camera, with LED flash, memory of 512MB (RAM), built-in Wi-Fi and GPS navigation chip.
