Can anyone recommend a cement board (for example SHERA board) installer or plaster ceiling installer who works with precision?

I want to close my carporch and also and some inside job to get some trimmings that will require near perfect leveling and straight surfaces (roughly 2 m wide stretches, between 7 and 25 cm approx width) to smoothen out some walls.

Looking for contractor who covers Petaling Jaya.

Hope someone can recommend a good installer.

Does anyone know of a company that can replace the rubber seals at my uPVC windows (between glass and frame)? Original supplier no longer in business, so far other companies dont want to do. Should be an easy job actually, just have to find the right seal & company.

Wall up outside wall with AAC-Bricks

Hi,

I have an old 1950 house and want to use AAC Bricks - specifically from CoolPro3 from Starken: https://www.starken.com.my/products-overview/standard-block/ - to achieve the following:

1) Better thermal insulation

2) Better sound insulation

3) get rid of all the old style boxes at the wall.

Location PJ, SS1

Area to be covered: two walls approx. toal area to be covered 60-70 m², maybe a bit more depending on contractor suggestion.

Brick size to be used: 600 x 200 x 175 (depth to be covered to close the boxed under 3) is 180-190mm)

Need to be layed with THIN BED ADHESIVE and given a render to ensure uniform look.

Afterwards paint with Dulux Weathershield pro (white)

Minium cutting needed, just a downpipe from the raingutter and some aircon drain-pipes need some spacing.

If you are experienced with using AAC bricks properly (i.e. saw cut etc.) feel free to PM me to arrange for a site visit or to ask me for pictures so you can quote.

TQ

Codeigniter - Improve Controller Execution Time

Hi guys,

I am running a CI-based site running on SSD. Performance is very good as its a rather beefy setup but pageload leaves something to be desired.

I ran a benchmark and the code is pretty clean but I need some help in reducing the amount of DB calls even though the site is pretty complex. A lot of stuff that is pushed dynamically could probably be cached one way or another to imrove load time. My focus currently is on delivering the content.

Benchmark stats:

Loading Time: Base Classes 0.0409
Controller Execution Time ( XXX / XXX ) 1.0943
Total Execution Time 1.1398

Obviously 1.0943 is what should go down.

Total page load time is around 2.5 seconds at the moment.

Problem: DATABASE: XXX (XXX:$db) QUERIES: 280 (0.7408 Seconds)

Is there anyone around who is really firm in CI that would be willing to skim through the controllers and models to help me improve? Its probably some poorly designed DB calls or even double calls. I can provide a complete set of the queries and code (nicely commented) if interested. Problem is that not everything can be cached because its a Login-Based website where some things are freely availble and other require a login.

Of course I dont expect this to be done for free. If anyone is interested you can PM me for information and we can discuss compensation.

Target would be to get the DB queries down if possible and achieve the lowest controller execution time reasonably possible. (-50% would be great)

Why the original programmer cant do it: Currently overloaded with other projects and no time to optimise further.

Withdrawal of Private Caveat

Quick question: I am finishing my housing loan this month. I dont plan to sell the house anytime soon. Do I need to remove Private Caveat that the bank got lodged? Is is possible to do this at a later without any issues? Reason: if the caveat remains, it would be next to impossible for third party to do any transfer. Should I get the relevant documents from the bank and just keep them to remove the caveat any time later? I am not too familiar with those things so I am just considering my options here. Of course I could also just take (any?) lawyer and get them to remove the caveat at once. What is the suggested course of action here?

MS Index Server to Windows Search Service

Hi,

I need to move my site to a new Win 2012 R2 server (fully managed, full access). Currently I use MS index server to query number of files, search and suggest related files since the site is not yet DB-driven but currently static.

I need some help to recode my classic asp scripts for that since ixsso.Query doesnt work anymore. Has anyone done this and can point me into the right direction? I heard you dont have to tweek the code all that much. This is my current code:

Set oQ=Server.CreateObject("ixsso.Query")
oQ.query = lcQuery & " AND NOT #filename *.inc*" & " AND NOT #filename *search*.asp"
oQ.columns = "Path,DocTitle,Rank"
' Other properties: Vpath,Contents, hitcount, Path, DocAuthor,Write,Contents,DocKeyWords
oQ.SortBy = "Rank [d]"
oQ.MaxRecords = 200
oQ.Catalog = catalogue
'set as a page specific variable

Set oU=Server.Createobject("ixsso.util")
oQ.LocaleID = oU.ISOToLocaleID("EN")
if limitsearch <> "" then
oU.AddScopeToquery oQ,limitsearch,"deep"
end if
Set rs=oQ.CreateRecordset("nonsequential")

if TypeName(rs) <> "Recordset" then
Set RunQuery = nothing
exit function
End If

if rs.RecordCount < 1 then
Set RunQuery = nothing
else
' Return result RecordSet
Set RunQuery = rs
End If
End Function

If I can port this retaining the variable names, all should be fine I think. If anyone wants or can help, please do. You can also PM with an offer for the changes.

MyMat Mosquito trap

Since we had a major headache with mosquitos recently, I thought I share the surprisingly cheap solution (after trying fogging, pest control, council fogging, searching for sources, burning coils, evaporating poison, abate traps. fan (with CO2 and light), zapper and everything else we could get our hands on - all didnt work too well though):

I recommend MyMAT. The traps dont use electricity and just need water. They solved our problem totally (better than fogging and everything else). You just have to wait approx. 3 weeks for the effect to kick in as it doesnt interfere too much with the current generation. It is super efficient with the next one though. Units can be bought from the supplier in Kelana Jaya, PJ at just RM 16 + GST per unit. They even deliver.

Results: Prior to using them at certain locations you could stand for less than 1 minute to be swarmed by 50++ mosquitos (no joke, really that many!). Now you can stand at the same location for 30 Minutes, watering the lawn or doing whatever and if you are unlucky one (1) might come to see you. Easy to kill that single bugger. Even my wife (who is a mosquito magnet) says practically no more mosquitos now. We have been using the traps for about 5 weeks now. Just refill the water from time to time and some of the mesh gets algae growth which you can wash off. Inside is a bacteria (BTI) which eats the larvae or something.

To get rid of your mosquitos, visit their website and buy their product. Penang gave them away FOC in hotspots:

http://www.medical-apparatus.com.my/index....roduct/17-mymat

Disclaimer: Not earning anything from this and not involved in the company. Just a user - and boy am I happy with it! Cant recommend them enough. Give it a try - for 16 RM you cant go wrong.

RidMozzi by Ridpest

Guys,

I have too many mosquitos in my place. Too much green for them to hide . I found this RiddMozzi offer from Ridpest but there is next to no information about it from independant sources (due to the high price?). Does anyone have any experience with them and this product? Its apparntly also marketed in Singapore. Does it really work? Is it safe? And will Ridpest come reliably? I dont want to spend thousands and then having to chase them or worse even waste the money entirely. Fogging is so much cheaper

Here is the link: http://caring.ridpest.com/mosquito-control-in-malaysia/

I am curious about your input!

Router Recommendation

Hi,

thinking of changing the L7 router from TM because Wifi doesnt reach bedroom(s) properly. For now i just put the router on a box (40 cm higher) now OK but still sucky a bit. Otherwise all is fine with the router. Maybe have to restart once in 3 months but no other problems.

What can I do to fix that? Replace antenna would be of little help I take it right?

So I am looking at the following routers for a wide coverage (2500 sqft house single story). Am connecting many Wifi devices but low bandwidth need mostly (internet radio, music streaming), connect 3 pcs and a tablet as well with minor usage (no torrenting over wifi). Ideally should have GB ports for connecting to main PC & Media Server, HyppTV and SmartTV. Other cabling is done with a splitter.

Any comments on those routers below?:

TP-LINK TL-WDR3600 N600 WIRELESS DUAL BAND GIGABIT ROUTER
TP-LINK TL-WR1043ND 300MBPS WIRELESS N GIGABIT ROUTER
TP-LINK TL-WR841HP-HG 300MBPS HIGH POWER WIRELESS N ROUTER
ASUS NETWORKING RT-N14UHP WIRELESS N 300 HIGH POWER 3G ROUTER

I dont really want to spend more than 300 bucks on a router though. Router will be on 24/7 in 24/7 a/c room.

Thanks for any pointers!
