Need some help with a terminal connector block.

Hello, everyone.

Long-time lurker here, but I figured that maybe someone here could point me in the right direction. Also an absolute beginner when it comes to car repair, so please be patient with me.

*coughs...* A-hem!

After the passenger side mirror bracket of my MyVi (2006 model) broke apart several months ago, I bought a new bracket from Lazada in an attempt to fix it myself.

So far, it mostly went well until I realized that before I could fix the new bracket, I needed to disconnect the wires first.

As you can see from the attached images, I'm thinking about trying to get those wires out of the connector block without cutting them, because I don't have what it takes to make new connections (wiring, etc.) if I DID cut the wires.

From some searches on Google, there's a certain set of removal tools that can be used to remove the wires from the connector blocks.

However, Lazada searches mention that these tools come all the way from China, and I really don't want to spend too much time waiting for another delivery. I mean, I got the new bracket yesterday, and began working on installing it, and I don't want to drive my car out UNTIL after I install the new bracket successfully.

Is there any location on Penang Island (that's where I am now) who sells or can loan me the tools? Also, if anyone knows precisely how to extract the wires (perhaps through the use of a needle or something like that), could you please teach me how to extract them without damaging them too much?

Thanks in advance, everyone, and excuse me for interrupting your usual schedules.

*bows respectfully, before leaving...*

Website Ideas for a Turn-Key(?) Website System.

Saviour-V teleports in, and bows respectfully to the members present....

Greetings, folks. Saviour-V reporting in.

Before I start this off, let me give you a little background about my real-life detail: I did take up a Degree in Computing (Multimedia) from APIIT back in 2005 or so, but my work experience leading up to this point in time has had nothing to do with anything IT-related, unless you count editing notes and slides for aviation engineering trainees, that is.

Saviour-V shakes his head ruefully...

That's the short of it, and I haven't been in touch with technologies for a long time, so I've got a bit of old Visual Basic 6 knowledge and some Java and C, but I have gotten quite a bit rusty with them.

Having said that, back on the 22nd of May 2012, I was given a project of sorts by a close relative of mine. He's an insurance agent, and he told me that a large number of agents didn't have websites to advertise insurance-related products and services. What he suggested was something I believe is a turn-key system (I'm not sure that's the right term, though.): a standardized website with dynamic content (info on the products and services, updated as new items become available), which can be used by individual agents to advertise. Which roughly meant, according to him, that Agent A's site would contain his contact details, and Agent B's site would have her contact details, but both agents would have the same products to advertise, and the same standard site, regardless of contact differences. That's what I understood from his description.

Furthermore, he said that he would like to keep hosting fees low, preferably at RM 100.00 per year or less. That's still a little vague for me, but that's the starting point. Also, he also mentioned that the system should be up and running by or before October 2012.

Bearing in mind that I haven't been doing programming in a long time, I told him that I would do my best to produce something for him. To me, if this project does take off, it might be worth something important to me, not just the money. However, I really would appreciate it if anyone would help steer me in the right direction, and highlight concerns I might have overlooked. It's been a long time, but perhaps I just might be able to make something good.

Saviour-V pauses for a moment to clear his throat, before continuing...

Here's my current steps / assumptions so far:

1. I'm considering the use of Magento as the e-commerce platform for the system, given that it's open-source (and possibly less expensive and a whole lot easier than if I were to TRY to build one from scratch). I have no intimate knowledge about Magento except for its name, but I've signed up for some of their free video tutorials (under Magento U) to get a few ideas on how to get things started. However, I'm also searching for more information on Magento as we speak, so that I can work with it more effectively.

2. I've no idea about who might be able to offer web-hosting rates at RM 100 or less per year at the moment, or if I should go for a managed or unmanaged server; I've never used a web hosting service before, so I'm really flying blind on this one.

3. There's still the issue of website design, and the product info I need to extract from the parent insurance company's website to fill up the product catalogue for the website itself. There's quite a number of question marks here, some of which I haven't figured out yet.

As you can probably guess, I have the beginnings of something, but I think I'm going to need a lot of help to pull it off. Some guidelines and ideas might be good to start things off, but any other form of assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you, good people of Lowyat.Net. God bless.

Saviour-V bows again, before teleporting out...

Is this road tax calculator reliable?

Saviour-V teleports in...

Greetings, folks. I was searching through the forums for "road tax calculators" a while back; I got varying results in return, no doubt.

Then I came across this item:

Pengiraan LKM (or something like that)

Downloaded the Excel file, and gauged my MyVi 1.3 against its values. It looks accurate to me, but I'm not too sure if it is.

A few hours back, I visited Perodua Glenmarie and had them handle my car insurance (MSIG) and road tax as usual: at 45% NCD, insured value of RM 25K (windows inclusive), I was told that the car insurance came was RM 599.25, and that my road tax would be RM 90.00, additional ("runner") fees inclusive.

I'm just trying to keep track of my expenses at the moment, but I'm also curious if the calculator I've just picked up is up-to-date. If it is, perhaps that might be a useful resource to anyone who's looking out for it. Otherwise, just let me know, and I'll close this topic.

Saviour-V bows, and teleports out...
