Inconsistent Insufficient Postage

Anyone else doing mass mailers facing this problem with Pos Malaysia before?

I send 200-300 letters per week, exactly same letter same postage, there's 2 "control" letters each batch, ie, there's 1 letter send back to my address and 1 send to another friend's address so that I can detect problems like letters delayed or insufficient postage.

Still, despite this, I get 1-2 complaints every few weeks from recipients getting Insufficient Postage notice from Pos Malaysia, which is very embarrassing

Short of over-paying postage to stay on the safe side, is there any other suggestions you guys can think of to overcome this?

Phone Scam Alert, 'High Court Summons' 88803500

This morning my wife received a call from 88803500, which is the actual Putrajaya Court number.

Caller said name is Zulkifli, but refused to give full name, told my wife she missed her court hearing and a summons need to be collected from Putrajaya Court by today.

Very elaborate, caller has her IC no and gave a fake company name she supposedly owned and said she took a loan from citibank and defaulted.

My wife asked him to give address to Court, he said "You tak tau putrajaya kat mana?", then ask for full name, he said "Hanya seorang Zulkifli kat sini, semua staff tau."..., ie, all stupid answers, then he finally said you better show up by 5pm or there will be consequences and hang up.

My wife was suspicious of the stupid answers caller give for all questions but her IC was stolen a few years back so she was a bit worried, called citibank, said no loan under her name, called ROC, ROC said no such company, called the Putrajaya Court, they said they get many such calls and it's a scam, my wife told them the number is your actual number, staff said ya, someone stole our line. Called lawyer friend, lawyer said no such thing, court summons always be letter or by hand.

Conclusion, it's a scam but the interesting is Putrajaya Court's response to say their number is stolen, they are still using number as their general line number and there's been no scam alert on their website and in their own words, there's been many callers like my wife... so why are they not issuing alerts on their website at least?

Diabetes Type II & Insurance

Hi All,

Sorry if this is not the right forum.

I was diagnosed with high blood sugar, HBA1C 11 last year. (Diabetes is 6 & above so this is considered way above).

But within 3 months, with exercise and diet, my HBA1C declined to 6 (non-diabetic border), 3 months later it was 5.2, another 3 months, it was 4.4 and since then it's below 5... ie, completely normal except for that 1 high reading last year.

I intend to get PruHealth or another medical card this year.

My question is, if there's any insurance agents around or anyone with experience on this - how do I disclose this and what will the insurance companies do? Is this considered normal case if I submit all the medical records or will exclusions for diabetics apply?

Note: I am interested to find out what are insurance companies' process of evaluating risks and how they view cases like mine, the ADA (American Diabetic Association) defines remission as "1 full year of normal blood sugar without the aid of any medication or insulin", by which definition, I am considered in remission, anyone who has knowledge on this please share, haven't come across agents who can answer this yet... usually tell me not to disclose but I prefer not to take such risks.

Beware Streamyx/Unifi Renewal Scam

Dear All,

Just want to relate 2 cases that happened to me and my client recently.

Case 1:

1. I got telemarketed to upgrade to superspeed me BB 4MB, registered online.

2. Technician came and discover there's no port here but left and didn't make a report back to TM and worst, he disappear and even TM cannot reach him(according to TM la)

3. Call centre insisted my package has been upgraded according to their system.

4. After many calls and shouting match, they finally offer 'solution' - I must go personally to TM Point to terminate and re-register a new account because their system don't allow downgrade, even though upgrade was never performed in the first place. In the process, I will lose the email ID I've been using for 5 years and have to re-sign a new contract.

5. After I wrote to MCMC, they promised to rectify without me going to TM Point and then promised it has been 'settled' and wanted to close the case. I said no, wait for the bill to arrive.

6. I get at least 3 calls per week from different dept, wanting to close the case.

7. Bill arrived, show BB 4MB, clearly showing the promised downgrade has not been performed.

8. TM gave the excuse now that my bill is still RM110, so why am I complaining? They seem like they don't even know their own superspeed me promotion which give 3 months free upgrade, so of course my bill is still RM110, it is the first month, the point that their system show my package as BB 4MB 140 doesn't register.

9. Reported to CFM, now awaiting response.

10. This happened to me once before when I upgraded from the very old 384K to 1MB, the call centre keyed in wrongly as 512K but they charged me for 1MB. At that time, they similarly ask me to re-register a new account and terminate the old one and sign a new 2 year contract.

This seems to me like a scam to get contract renewals, no system in the world is so stupid that you can only key in upgrade and not downgrade, especially one which is not even performed and acknowledged by the Authorised Installer and the local exchange Technicians as not performable.

Case 2:

1. Telemarketer called my client's office, my client not in, his secretary who is very young, first job, picked up.

2. Telemarketer told my client streamyx services is being discontinued in his location and all businesses have to performed compulsory upgrade to Unifi.

3. When my client got back to office, he immediately realised his staff got conned, a check with his neighbours confirmed it, they just made random calls and his company was one of those unlucky ones targeted.

4. He went to TM Point, where he was told, just like my case, once upgraded cannot be downgraded and worst, if he don't continue with the upgrade, his streamyx will be disconnected by end of the month... unless he terminate and re-register his streamyx account.

This seems again, like a terminate-and-renew contract scam. Case is still pending as well, similarly, they expect my client who's been using the email on his namecard and other stationary for 8 years to just terminate and re-register.

I told him to complain to CFM, awaiting status as well.

Hopefully, someone can stop TM from pulling stunts like these, they always claim it is their contractor or outsourced agents, they don't seem to know the law that TM is liable as long as these agents are representing TM.

TM, are you reading this?

Previous Owner Refused to Change Address

Hi Everyone,

Wonder whether anyone else faced this before...

My wife & me bought property from another young couple about 6 years ago.

First 2 years no problem... 3rd year onwards, suddenly there's tons of mails coming to our home addressed to them, which we find strange but generally ignore, until we start receiving legal letters from lawyers in their names.

We discover they were applying for loans, insurances and credit cards, using our address.

We called the lawyer handling his loan and lawyer told us the couple insisted this was their address but don't send any letters there, they will collect personally.... so only a mistake by their lawyer lead to us realizing they were deliberately giving our address to their service providers.

We managed to find their contacts and twice mailed their letters to them with a polite request, over 2 years, to change their address, but it was ignored.

But when we found out they were applying for loan in our address, both personal and business loan, we decided enough is enough and sent them a note either they stop or we will make police report and publish an advert in the newspaper with their names & I/Cs to inform the public they are no longer residing here.

I also emailed him my lawyer's feedback that I should lodge a police report. Guess wat? The husband emailed back saying I should be 'mindful as I never know who I might be dealing with', ie, an obvious threat, but he promised to get his address changed so I ignored the tone and contents of his email.

Today, 2 months later, another loan application came in, my wife used to work for the bank concerned so she took it to their fraud department.

So my question is... this couple is not afraid of police report and legal action and despite promising to change their address, they have not done so and continued to use our address for their transactions... what should we do next?

Anyone dealt with such crazy folks before, got any ideas what should be the next step? My lawyer said at the moment cannot sue as no damage has been done yet and the police said at the moment, can do covering report but cannot take action as no crime has been committed yet... but this is getting highly annoying!

The best part is, husband and wife are both highly educated and definitely not stupid.

Prudential 'Free Look-In' Period, Is this Normal?

Hi Everyone,

I hope someone who is prudential agent or has dealt with prudential agent can enlighten me... did not get a response from their customer service email.

I recently bought PruHealth medical card, it comes with 15-days free look-in period, or, 15 days cooling off period.

What I want to know is when does the period start? Is it when I received the policy or the date policy is issued from HQ?

I asked because I am not sure whether my agent has been unprofessional in her conduct:

1. After buying the policy, I did not hear from her at all but I receive letter from Prudential stating my first premium has been deducted from my credit card.

2. I sms'ed her after that, she replied it is normal for policy to be issued 'slow'.

3. Then a couple of days later, she sms'ed me to say the policy is ready for collection, told her to courier over to me.

4. That was when I noticed the following:

i. Policy was issued to her for onward forwarding to me on 3rd July, activated 1st July, I signed up 25th June.

ii. I sms'ed her on the 16th, that was when she replied policy not ready, HQ has not issued.

iii. Then on the 18th July, precisely 15 days from the 3rd, she sms'ed me policy is ready for collection.

5. That means she sms'ed me EXACTLY the day my cooling off period expired.

Appreciate someone can confirm for me the policy regarding cooling off, is it the date issued or the date I received? If it is the date issued, then definitely agent is totally unprofessional and do not deserve the commission.

In any case, even without the cooling off period issue, she was already lying as the HQ clearly sent her my policy on the 3rd, copy attached which she actually signed receipt, but on the 16th she still sms'ed me saying not ready not received.
