Hey guys..

I'm wanting to do some business in gift cards. I've got a bunch of gift cards to the US iTunes Store, and I know that they're valuable to people who are outside of the US so that they can make purchases on the US iTunes Store. So let's say I want to sell my gift cards on LYN - what's the easiest way to set this up? Can I set up my PayPal account for instance to accept RM?

Just curious how this is done so I can start selling

Hi,

Does anyone know what they're doing when it comes to repairs of the iPhone family devices? I have just recently picked up two iPhone 4 units and am trying to figure them out, from complete teardown to reassembly. The problem is that I am solely dependent on pictures and guides given on www.ifixit.com, which are not sufficient at times. My very first attempt at iPhone 4 repair had me doing a complete transition of all iPhone 4 components from a cracked and bent middle chassis to a new one. It's been a trying experience at times, and I could use the help in moving forward. Please chime in if you have any questions about iPhone repair, or know how to go about doing it.

My hope is to be able to make a resource for all users of this forum so that we can really figure this device out. I've taken some steps towards doing it, but I'm starting from square one.

BSN NO-Xplode and similar

Any experiences with BSN NO-Xplode or BSN Nitrix? I'm thinking of ordering some up. I've read plenty of positive reviews about the former, and I just wonder if it's worthwhile to look into.

Mac OS X File System Concerns

Having ordered my MacBook Pro 15" 2.4GHz, I decided to pick up a good external harddrive with which to lug around data from my home PC to my new laptop. I settled on the purchase of a 160GB Western Digital Passport and noticed that the drive has been formated using FAT32. I've run into issues with file sizes in the past on FAT32-formatted drives, so I'm tempted to reformat the HDD to NTFS. Some quick Googling revealed that Mac OS X offers only limited support for NTFS, allowing users to read from NTFS-formatted drives; but not write to them. And now my question:

How should I format this harddrive for support in both Microsoft Windows operating systems and Mac OS X? It seems that there is a workaround that can allow Mac OS X to write to NTFS drives, but the mounting procedure is a bit more of a chore than I'd like to go through. I intend to run Mac OS X alongside Windows XP / Vista, and I have some files on my home computer that can't be squeezed onto my FAT32-formatted drive.

Dell Inspiron 700m Speaker Issues

I realize that this laptop has been out on the market for a while, but has anyone here experienced Dell Inspiron 700m speakers dying after about a year of normal operation? The issue has been raised many times by Inspiron 700m owners in the past. I called Dell Technical Support just a couple of days ago and found that Dell is unwilling to do anything about this because they have not formally recognized the failing speakers as a problem.

I've also written up a blog post regarding this. Please speak up if you've had similar experiences with your Dell Inspiron 700m. Even though this laptop has been around for over two years, I'm certain that I can't be the only one who has contacted Dell about this issue.

Bulk up at home?

My vitals
Age: 17
Height: ~168cm
Weight: ~61kg
Percent Body Fat: 13%? I can't recall as I did this a number of months ago

I have very little equipment to use at home. I've got a mat for doing my situps on, a solid floor for doing pushups on, a pair of 2kg dumbbells, and a pair of 6kg dumbbells. I try to keep in shape with regular exercise nightly before showering, but I don't know what I ought to be doing if I want to gain more mass. What more can I do at home to bulk up?

What I want to do

Strengthen biceps
More definition on abdominals
Chest?

Pictures. Photoshop does wonders for the brightness and contrast.

I can't recall if anyone has posted about this type of thing before. I just found out about it because of some ringtone ad that showed up while I was looking through a tech blog.

Our hearing deterioriates as we get older and we lose hearing in the higher frequency ranges. This is natural, a condition called presbycusis. The human range of hearing is from 20Hz to 20,000 Hz. The Onyx is more or less a proof of concept. Don't expect to see it on store shelves anytime soon, but keep your hopes up - the same ClearPad technology used in the Onyx will be provided to mobile phone manufacturers at the end of this year. Take a quick read, very interesting idea.

Tablet PCs

I'm looking for a tablet PC for college use. Rather, I'm looking for any laptop for college use. I was and still am interested in the IBM Thinkpad X60 because of its comfortable keyboard, long battery life, light weight, and solid construction but was somewhat deterred by its maximum resolution of 1024x768.

What would be ideal for me is a lightweight tablet PC (12.1" screen) that is capable of displaying resolutions higher than 1024x768 on its screen. An SXGA+ display, as configurable on the Toshiba Portege M400, would be great.

Right now I'm looking at the Toshiba Portege M400 and the Fujitsu LifeBook T4210. Any other tablets of interest for me?

Dogs and cats

I have a Scottish Terrier mix at home. She's about 5 years old, ran out of the house this morning when my mom was going to send my dad down to the LRT station. My mom came back to the house to find my dog holding onto something in her mouth, wagging her tail in excitement. It turns out she found a kitten and brought it back home.

Mom freaked out and more or less swept the kitten to the side. I came back home and tried to take care of it a bit but gave up after realizing that I have damn well next to nothing required to take care of a kitten. Ended up handing the kitten over to a neighbor, hopefully it lives and grows up fine.

Anyways, should I worry that my dog will try to harm the kitten? She brought the kitten back to our home completely unscratched, carrying it in her mouth. She seemed rather intent on getting to the kitten, jumping up on me to see it. I let her get close enough to touch the kitten on one occasion and she tried to pick it up in her mouth again. Scared that the dog will hurt the little kitten.

So once again, should I worry when my dog tries to bring home a kitten? Would she actually eat the little animal? And how should I take care of an orphaned kitten in the future?

Welcome to the updated Super Duper Motorola RAZR Series Super Duper Guide by yetieateR.

So, what's going to fill up this space? A list of pointers for owners of the RAZR series phones regarding modifying their phones to their own liking. Seem edits, information about P2K software and the like. Sure, all these resources are available at Motomodders and MotoX, but who wants to do the searching for themselves? I'm writing up this thread with one intention in mind - making sure that this becomes your one stop source for help regarding your phone.

Do note that I only own a Motorola RAZR V3i. Bear with me if problems pop up that I can't help you with. I'll do my best to support the RAZR V3 and RAZR V3x owners out there.

Getting Started
Alright, so you've got a Motorola RAZR phone and don't know what to do with it. Perhaps you've already installed Motorola Phone Tools (MPT) and have explored your phone in the constraints set by that software. Where do you go from there? The next logical step - hacking your Motorola RAZR.

Here's a question for you: why bother being content with what you've been given when you have the potential to do so much more? Your phone is a powerful piece of hardware - learn how to bend it to your needs.

You'll want to have easy access to the tools and software that are required to work with your RAZR series phone. Let's get started with a couple of sources for obtaining the software that you'll need when working with your phone. Take a look at the sources below.

Your best bet would be to look at one of these guides:

Note: Make sure that your Motorola RAZR is set to Data/Fax Connection under USB Settings. You can find this by going into the Menu, selecting Settings, Connection, USB Settings, and moving the left and right direction keys to select the appropriate connection mode.

I originally had some difficulty when trying to get my Motorola RAZR V3i to connect with my computer. Despite my USB Settings being set properly, I simply could not connect to my phone through any P2K software. I found that installing Motorola PST and running it before plugging in my phone helped. Alternatively, try running Motorola RSD Lite before plugging in your phone.

The Basics
Congratulations - now you've learned how to ensure proper communication between your phone and your computer. The wealth of terminology associated with Motorola phone hacking is sure to overwhelm you if it's your first time trying it out. It's best to get familiar with the terms early on.

The Flash
The flash is the part we change most often. By now we have several types, but basically, the flash is the firmware of the phone. Think of it as the Linux distro. When you change the flash, it adjusts features, menus, and more. Also, things like the way your phone handles reception or menu speed are handled by flashes. Flashing your phone will not erase any of your media or settings. Then there's the seem.

The Seem
The seem is the individual pieces that make up the operating system on the phone. Every individual feature on your phone (SMS on/off, will the call end when you close the flip, can you access the web from your phone, etc) is all editable by changing a seem. More on that in the seem editing section, but basically seems are what you will change when you want to change one feature at a time.
