How does climate change affect Malaysia

Climate change is considered to be one of the biggest threats facing nature and humanity today. It is an undeniable, pervasive, and insidious planetary crisis that affects food and water security, biodiversity, public health and our overall socio-economic well being. In order to avoid the devastating effects of climate change, global warming should stay well below a 2° Celsius increase compared to pre-industrial temperatures.

To attain this objective, global greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions need to be cut by at least 50 per cent in the coming decades.

Rising CO2 levels and climatic changes greatly impact the marine ecosystem by increasing the frequency and intensity of extreme weather events, raising sea-levels and causing coral bleaching and ocean acidification. These changes will have disastrous consequences on the people, livelihoods and species that depend on a healthy and thriving marine environment. Even turtles, one of Malaysia’s most endangered species, will be badly affected by climate change. Turtles have been around for millions of years, but they are facing more and more threats from humans. Can we let climate change be the threat that pushes them over the edge of extinction?

Climate change is predicted to increase the frequency and strength of storms, which will erode beaches and reduce nesting habitat. For example, The Turtle Islands Park in Sabah, an important nesting site for green and hawksbill turtles, is facing serious erosion problems. We can help turtles to adapt to this by protecting as many nesting habitats as possible now.

When turtles lay their eggs, the temperature of the nest determines the sex of the hatchlings. Warmer nests produce mostly female hatchlings. As the climate warms, it is predicted that turtle nests too will be warmer resulting in fewer male hatchlings. This imbalance in the sex ratio will have an adverse impact on the future turtle population where there will be fewer male turtles to fertilize the eggs. Slowing climate change now will help to reduce this threat.

Turtles also require healthy marine habitats, such as seagrass beds and coral reefs, for food and shelter. Rising sea levels, ocean acidification and coral bleaching brought on by climate change will affect seagrass distribution and productivity. As the turtles habitats degrade and disappear, they may go too. We can help them adapt by reducing as many threats now, so that their natural resiliency can take over. Along with saving the turtles by mitigating and adapting to the catastrophic effects of climate change, we also save the ecosystems they need, shared not only by myriad and unique marine organisms but for millions of human beings dependent on coastal and marine resources for their livelihood.

（北海6日讯）北海一间双层排屋侧门篱笆内被置放手榴弹，一辆轿车严重被炸毁，二楼的玻璃窗及其中一台闭路电视也因爆炸力被震碎，连隔一条路之远的排屋围墙也受波及。

该宗被置放手榴弹事件是于今日凌晨3时许，发生在北海峇东丁雅柏嘉沙花园(RAJAUDA.com Map - 地图)一双层排屋角间单位。动机仍有待调查。

据了解，该手榴弹是被不法之徒从侧门篱笆内放入引爆，而停泊在该门前的迈微轿车遭殃，车后的镜子被炸碎，玻璃碎片满地。相信是爆炸力过强，导致二楼的玻璃窗也破碎，其中一台照射该轿车的闭路电视也遭殃损坏。

该炸弹的爆炸威力让附近的民宅也感受到其震撼力而震惊不已，并对于此事件的发生议论纷纷。

大批警员、鉴证组及拆弹专家一早就赶到现场调查，并在案发现场各角度搜寻蛛丝马迹，以协助搜查证据。

由于勒索者较后就没有任何的后续行动，因此警方不排除该勒索案与此宗的手榴弹引爆事件有关。

由于屋主在这两天并没有接获任何的勒索，未料却引来手榴弹事件。警方目前将从勒索者所使用的手机号码开始调查，希望能够掌握可靠的线索，协助警方侦破此案。

Hackers claim to have found way to play copied software on Sony’s previously impervious console

With piracy rife in the Wii, Xbox 360, DS and PSP markets, the PS3 has to date proved the only current-gen machine to successfully fend off the hackers – but it seems that things could be about to change.

According to reports on Maxconsole, a lengthy and convoluted workaround has been discovered that allows users to play pirated copies of Killzone 2, PES 2008 and Burnout Paradise.

Users are also required to have an older PS3 (i.e. not a ‘Slim’ machine) onto which third party OS software can be installed as well as copies of Windows XP, the original MotorStorm and a host of piracy-related DVD software.

The exploit, however, has been met with widespread scepticism amongst many in the hacker community, not least because of the extreme cost and effort needed to implement it.

Even if the hack is real, any detrimental effects are likely to be minimal for now. The fear, however, is that this method could be the start of full-fledged hacking of Sony’s console.

ok here is my situation: i bought a hp dv6 recently which is eligible for ree upgrade to win 7...i had already place my order for win 7 but i havent post my receipt and email it to them...but after a few days later,i refunded my dv6 and i had already sent an email to the hq in singapore but i havent received any email from them...i used my credit card to purchased it which is 19us dollars...

so i have a question here, will they deduct my money or refund if im not sending the receipt of my purchase for the laptop to them or i could change it to my new laptop for the win7 which is also eligible for free upgrade?

my studio xps16 lappy has stolen at yesterday midnight...the thief broke into my house and just walk straight towards my room to get my lappy and the charger...surprisingly without the battery...all hdd and ipod were not been stolen...im suspecting they will come back again...i had already lodge a police report and some forensic had came by to get some fingerprints that left on the cooling pad...hopefully the insurance company would pay up a little bit for me...

ADOLF Hitler may not have died in a bunker after fresh research suggests the skull thought to be the tyrant's was from a woman.

US archaeologist Nick Bellantoni found fragments from the skull believed to be Hitler's were too thin to be from a male, and suspected it was the remains of a much younger woman, The Sun reports.

"The bone seemed very thin - male bone tends to be more robust. It corresponds to a woman between the ages of 20 and 40," Dr Bellantoni said.

DNA tests performed in a US laboratory confirmed the remains could not have belonged to the Nazi leader.

The discovery casts doubt on the exact circumstances of Hitler’s death and could force history books to be rewritten.

Original accounts of Hitler’s death said he shot himself in the head in a bunker after taking a cyanide tablet on April 30, 1945 as the Russian army attacked Berlin.

His remains, along with those of his wife Eva Braun, were taken from the bunker, doused in petrol and set ablaze.

A year later, skull fragments were dug up by Russian forces which seemed to confirm Hitler had shot himself in the bunker.

In 1970, the KGB cremated Hitler’s remains except for the skull fragment.

Dr Bellantoni was sceptical about the theory the skull fragments belong to Eva Braun, who was with Hitler in the bunker where he supposedly died.

"There is no report of Eva Braun having shot herself or having been shot afterwards. It could be anyone. Many people were killed around the bunker area."
