Wanna build an "audio" machine

Seeing how i'm gonna get a new headphone rig, i'm thinking of converting my old pentium 4 computer to a computer dedicated to playing FLAC/MP3 files.

Not much i'd want to get out of them, i simply want it to load FAST (ie no windows preferred, shit slow loading times)

and be able to play FLAC files

System specs:

P4 2.4Ghz
768MB DDR SDRAM
capalang video card w/o fan
about 80GB of HDD space
SPDIF OUT
15" LCD

Oh and my PSU blew so i might need to get a working (preferably used + cheap) one that can work with this old P4 motherboard.

Basically this computer will be solely dedicated to playing audio files. It'll be the source of my audio rig besides a CD player that i'll get soon. Any recommendations for an OS + Software, and any hardware modifications i could use?

Or is this a bad idea? :/

I'm thinking of getting a sennheiser 650, since i cant find the denon ahd2000 anywhere.

Was gonna choose a darkvoice 337 amp, but then i saw on the webpage the little dot MKVI and that looks sooo tempting. But can't really find any comparison between these two, so which is actually better?

Plus i might need a DAC too, so perhaps some recommendations too please

PS: The DAC Is cos my source is the PC. Got an XFI XtremeMusic which i bought 2 years ago, not sure if i can connect this directly to my amp so the possibility of me needing a DAC. Source is Foobar2k with FLAC audio files.

Hey guys, i recently tried this phone called flying finger on my friend's nokia 5300 and it was completely addictive. so i asked him send it over to me and i attempted to install it on my phone, but it couldnt work, so i'm wondering if there's any similar games.

Connection to SG now like sht

Before earthquake, connection to SG very fast.. on bnet play like 30-50ms on some IP address (tmnut)

Now 3 days after earthquake, every single ip i try 600++ms. Yesterday still ok one, now like that. I thought the earthquake only affect the APCN2? How come Sg-My connection also affected? Or our connection with Sg also pass through ACPN2?

Warcraft 3: Anyone ever gotten this type of critical error?

OK, i've gotten this error twice while playing custom maps in Wc3. The first time it happened, i thought it was nothing significant so I just restarted my computer and continued playing. And then it happened again, and this critical error isn't the usualy FATAL ERROR that pops up. Instead, it goes like this:

This is what I realised:

1) My wc3 isn't installed on E:\, so why is this file "E:\Drive1\temp\buildwar3x\STORM\Source\SFile.cpp" causing an error?

2) I have checked the directory mentioned, and it doesnt even exist.

3)I've got 100GB of space left on C:\, where Wc3x is installed, and about 200MB of space in E:\, where the non-existant file "E:\Drive1\temp\buildwar3x\STORM\Source" is in.

Sorry If this post doesn't belong here, but i figured if i put it in the techical support section, few people with warcraft 3 would see the post

The problem I have is, when i up the CPU Freq to 400MHz, the whole system cannot boot. I tried upping the NB voltage, CPU Vcore voltage, still cannot boot. I make the ram timings 6-6-6-18-6-42-15-15-15-15, still cannot. Change the multiplier to 6x, still cannot. These are some settings that i have already tried:

SoundMAX recording problem

Aiya, i just solved the CPU temperature problem then another problem pops up...

The "Stereo Mix" option on my recording options doesn't work. I've searched around for a solution but couldn't find anything. I rely in the stereo mix recording quite often, cos sometimes need to record whats coming out from my speakers.

Audio CODEC: SoundMAX Integrated Digital HD Audio (A1988A)
Driver version: 5.10.1.4530
Motherboard: ASUS P5B-E PLUS

So far, I've seen people with P5B Deluxe, P5B motherboards having the same problem.

Updating the drivers to the latest (5.10.1.4580) does not work, instead it just REMOVES the "Stereo Mix" option in the recording options.
Seems like ASUS is just taking the easy way out (Got a problem? Remove the feature lo...)

Anyone with similar problems?

Crazy temps on conroe

[SOLVED]Unable to remove some empty folders

Recently i was clearing the junk in my computer and i saw these two folders:

C:\Program Files\microsoft frontpage\version3.0\bin

C:\Program Files\xerox\nwwia

which are both completely empty.

So i try to delete both folders and i got the error message: "Cannot delete nwwia: It is being used by another person or program. Close any programs that might be using the file and try again."

Then i booted into safe mode and deleted the two folders successfully, but when i booted into normal mode the folders REAPPEARED and i got the same error message when i tried to delete them. And these folders are completely empty.

Anyone have any idea how to get rid of them? I've surfed the internet looking for a solution and it seems like many people have the same problem as me, but they haven't had any luck either. I do have microsoft frontpage installed, but it's in another directory. And I've never used a xerox product before, so i dont understand why it's even in my computer.

Is there any type of script that can automatically list out thumbnails of videos, and, on clicking the thumbnail, it goes to a page that streams the video?
