hi sifus:

i want to build a desktop pc for:
1. using stock analysis software
2. some programming with javascript/C++
3. play online game with my brother overseas, eg league of legends
4. play games like civilisation and simcitys
5. run video streaming softwares smoothly

would like to have:
1. ssd
2. 8gb ram
3. about 1tb hdd in total
4. smallest possible casing
5. if possible a not-so-noisy machine

i dont know anything about oc so oc wouldnt be an option...

budget including monitor and windows 7/8 is rm2500 (to buy all components from lowyat this weekend)

I am looking for recommendations for breakfast, lunch and dinner options that are healthiest, easiest to prepare and cheapest to get. What I have been doing is:

Breakfast - Wholemeal bread 4 slices with low fat margarine
Lunch (largest portion of the day) - 2:1:1 of Vege, Carbs, Proteins
Dinner - eat as little as possible, fruits, soups
Snack - Don't snack at all

What's your opinion?

is maple 12 compatible with windows 7?

so i tried to install maple 12 on windows 7 but it never seem to work. it worked on windows xp before this. any idea?

how to share a lan port?

ok so where i stay (university college) have 1 lan port
how can i share the connection with another computer, means 2 computers using the connection simultaneously (preferably wired)
i googled up and find the splitter can't work, and i guess desktop switch works
any idea on this?

all my ie and google results are harmful websites

when i use ie/firefox on both my asus laptop (a8js) and eee, all the search results are harmful websites and deny access

laptop shut down by itself

my laptop is experiencing shut down by itself whenever its running heavy programs like:

-video converting
-publishing movie using windows movie maker
-sometimes random shutdown

i have lifted up the laptop for 5cm to give a good airflow to the back of the laptop

laptop spec is:
asus a8jn, 2year1month+ old
-intel core2duo
-2.5gb ram
-80gb hdd
-geforce go 7300

i have googled and i think its cuz of the overheating which causes the problem
average temperature is found to be 6x
some suggested solutions are:
-laptop cooler-tried, not much difference
-cleaning the dust-also not much difference

what else should i do ><

and i cant play dow which works like a charm on my lappie, neither i can play secondlife, which also runs very smoothly on my laptop.

anybody has any idea? it only affects games though.

Need help fast.

budget RM50 max.

want to get a speaker for my computer. free speaker-sonic gear 2GO by CHIP mag produces too soft a voice, cant even listen to movie though at highest volume.

was using labtec spin 45 before this. but a bit spoilt already.

eyeing sonic gear morro 200. any opinion?

Need help desperately!

i installed a new psu and things seemed to be working fine.. the bios did not reset itself over the past few days (still running outside the box). the only odd thing was i realised that everytime it booted up it kept on displaying "verifying DMI pool data.. update success". it never used to have an update success notification every time i started the pc.. but things were still fine

this morning i tried to start the pc and during the stage where the windows logo would come up and load all i had was a blank screen (monitor still receiving video signal). restarted several times and no boot. however, windows seems to be able to start in Safe mode.. so i was like okay no biggie ill just repair install it. the repair install prompted me for drivers for some nvidia chipset thing but i just ignored it

upon doing so i was able to boot into windows and do normal activities (play music, video) but there were some error msgs about the chipset driver. i could not open web pages but MSN msgr seemed to work tho, damned strange!

so i backed up my data into my backup partition and reformatted, and upon booting into a fresh copy of windows, a large number of .exe install files in my backup partition were corrupted (i think due to the nvidia chipset drivers not being installed yet?)
so i install my chipset drivers.. and during the reboot after the install, the blank screen instantaneously appears again. not able to boot unless in safe mode.

what gives?? is my nforce4 chip dead? did i kill it somehow by running my pc out of the case? i was very sure to place everything carefully and did not touch the motherboard in any way!!
