Question about am2 and am3 socket

Hi, i'm quite clueless when it comes to these stuff. So i'm wondering if an AM3 processor will fit into an AM2 socket.
the mobo that i'm using is ABIT KN9S.

I read somewhere that some motherboards will be able to if you upgrade your bios or something like that. Any1 can enlighten me please. Thanks.
