my choices currently include:

tokina 11-16 f2.8, f2.8 is tempting
sigma 10-20 f4, great reviews
tamron 10-24, relatively new, so kinda hard to get good reviews

i have read review, compared prices, and still cant decide. tokina seems nice, but the soft focus edges is kinda annoying.
thus far, i have only tested the tokina and canon's 10-22. i'm not planning to go for the canon one tho.

any kinda of help will be appreciated, thank you in advance

why do i hear bad things about acer?

i'm currently looking for a laptop and stumbled upon a very good deal. lets just say at the same price, the spec is pretty good (2999, 2.26 c2d, ddr3 ram, bluetooth and etc). however its an ACER. i've surveyed other brands within the same proce range and non really compares.

my friends kept telling me that they have bad qc, cheap plastic, breaks often and the list just goes on. are ACER laptops really that bad compared to HP and DELL?

someone deposited the money into my hsbc account from cimb. he gave "cash" to the bank to be transferred into my hsbc account. he deposited the money on friday but up til now i have still yet to receive it. he even showed me the receipt. he's my good friend so no, he is not trying to scam me. i just want to know how long does it take for such transaction to materialize? the account number and all is correct.

he did a similar transfer b4 via cheque but that one went in in just a few hours. y should cash take any longer?

i had to stay in line for nearly an hour to upgrade my plan. not to mention the time it takes for them to print this and that. put it in short, i don't want to go through it again.

i upgraded my plan to 1mbps last week and they said to call 100 to check whether it's already in effect or not. i called them today, and they said that no such upgrade occured. i wanted to give them the benefit of the doubt but the guy on the phone said that it shouldnt take more than 3 days. i have waited a week.

they suggested upgrading through mips but when i tried to do so, it said that my account is not eligible for such upgrade(technical error maybe).

my current internet speed is really insufficient but i would really hate spending 30 minutes finding parking, an hour waiting for my number and another 30 minutes for the procedures. the only reason i went last time was because i had the day off.

anything similar happened to anyone? as in they upgraded but nothing happened. if the charge me 88 bucks for 512 this month, there will be hell to pay at tmpoint

astro: cant download signal

the option to download signal completely dissapears. i cant watch the sports channel at all and i cant download the signal. hell no im paying 50 bucks just for their technician to do a 5 minutes job

spyware on mac

previously, i never worried about this until i got a pop up. usually, u get pop ups immitaitng windows xp browser so that when u click "X" to close it, u end up entering the site.

usually, i laugh at this as i'm using a mac but just recently, i got a pop up in a mac browser format and this kinda scares me. does this mean i have been infected with spywares or is it just a coincidence.

alternative to isquint?

on my previous mac, i had this video converter called isquint which works great! it converts just about any format, even .flv to mp4. since i got a replacement for my imac, isquint has been discontinued.

any other movie converters that works as well as isquint? i'm trying pspware currently but it won't convert flv files(youtube)

btw, if anyone by any chance still keeps isquint .dmg file, pleas pm me. transfer via msn. i really miss it

ps3 wifi help

just got my ps3 at the official launching. i tried setting up the connection via wifi but only managed to get 7%(about 12-15 meters straight distance from my router). i tried a wifi boosting solution(windsurfer) and got it boosted to 25-35%. my question is, is there anything more i can do to increase the signal. my laptop could get 100% from the same area and i am aware that the ps3's wifi receiver isn't the best thing out there.

furthermore, how will the low signal affect my online gaming? though it's only 35%, i can surf the net with relative speed to my laptop though i'm not sure about how gaming goes. streaming music and videos from my pc is painfully slow and not even worth it. connecting the ps3 using a cable would require a 30 meter one at least and it's going to make my house look messy. any suggestions?

oh, is the position of the ps3 relevant? as in if it is horizontal or vertical, will i get more signal?

one more thing, i tried connecting my psp to the ps3 but it says my psp firmware is outdated(i'm using custom firmware 3.71) is upgrading my custom firmware going to solve this or will the ps3 not recognize any custom firmware?
