Hi All

I have some questions about ceiling L-box with cove and down-lights.

This is to be installed at the living hall.

1. Is there difficulty maintaining L-box with cove? Understanding dust may accumulate in the cove

2. The amount of down light required on L-box. Is there a rule thumb of the number required per unit length?

3. What type of lighting is suitable to be installed for the cove? LED or fluorescent tube?

Thank you

Question about PSP

I have a few questions about PSP.

a) PSP 3006, can that be hacked ? Will I be able to do it myself or is it complicated - I dont have any technical background for this sort of stuff.
b) Is it worth getting PSP 3006 or wait for the new version, PSP2 which is scheduled end of this year/early next. talking about cost and extra features.
c) Singapore is selling PSP 3006 for SGP 300 with bundles+1 game. What is the price in Malaysia? The price does not include hacking.

Please advise! and thank you in advance.

Relationship with boss

This probably has nothing to do with career but more or less related to this section of discussion.

How is your relationship with your boss? I am a new comer in my department, its has been a month but I find that I totally am incompatible with my boss. I do greet him whenever I see him but it seems that there's nothing to say beyond that. He often greets back but to me it seems like a frustration to do that than anything else. Nowadays, I never hope to cross path with him, cause the situation is just so awkward and recently I just look down whenever i see him. I am quite reserved by nature but have no problem mixing around with my colleagues and most of the people I meet.

I see most of my colleagues talk to him about work and the problem is I dont have anything to discuss with him. even during meeting that he chaired, I have no idea what the discussion because I am pretty new to the environment so Ill listen and try to keep up with the discussion.

So any advice guys?

Toilet

I am wondering what comes into mind when people sit on the toilet bowl while waiting for their bowl movement to complete their "business". Just a topic of discussion and yes, I was wondering about this when I last did mind. For me, its usually about my day to day issues, my plans, and some other boring stuffs. In other days, when bowel movement becomes tough, I had to concentrate on pushing the pieces out, I think that is the only time when I actually concentrated when doing the business.

Confusion

OK, Do girls set a time for a guy to chase after her? Its like an expiry date or something. Cause I don't blieve in getting in relationship too quickly without being proper friends first. Reason? I am finding someone for a long term and I don't believe in long term love, eventually when it comes to settling down, love wears out, and friendship is the key to sustain the relationship.

Ok this has nothing to do with the above. Whats the boundary between a guy and girl friendship? Or does it exist at all?
Next question, if it does exist, what about a girl often wanting to talk to a guy - not very often but maybe once a week depending on situation? and What if she shows interest to go to places with a guy - maybe a day trip, or a backpack trip to somewhere? and both guy and girl has been friends for 10+ years, exchanging gifts on birthdays. She had relationship previously but its not in good shape, the guy has not been in a relationship for a long time. They meet each other when situation allows. BUT all this only happens since the past 2 years. Previous years out of the 10 years+, we just chat online like how other highschoolers do during their free time, visit one another during festive season etc. There are quiet times after the guy had a relationship. If you manage to read them all, congrates and please advise.

Project Engineer

I graduated two years ago from university with a masters in mechanical engineering and have been working as a project engineer since then. I would like to ask if it is possible for me to apply to become a professional engineer with my current job experience. As you may have already know, a project engineer work encompasses budgetary, schedule, quality and safety control of a project. Occasionally, a project engineer will be involved in the technical aspect of the project i.e. calculations, designs etc but this is not frequent and from my understanding in order to be able to be qualified as a professional engineer, the board requires a person to pass several exams and have technical experience that is related to his academic qualification. Can anyone advise me on whether I am eligible to apply for PE with my current work experience. I appreciate your input. Thanks in advance.

Tax Claim

I have no idea about the tax procedure in Malaysia although ive worked here for a while.

OK, Let say that I decided to stop working in Malaysia.

Do i need settle any tax related issues like filling forms to declare that I no longer working here?

Someone mentioned about 15% pa tax for overseas grad working in Malaysia. I graduated in 2008 and returned last year. Any idea if I am eligible to claim anything back from the tax department?

In other countries like the UK, it is possible to claim a portion of the tax if he/she is no longer working there.
Singapore Vs Australia

So open discussion, if you have the opportunity which country will you be in? Talking about salary, benefits, cost of living, culture, convenience, family etc. I now know a friend who earns AUS$150,000 pa + as a project engineer in a construction firm with 2 years + experience. Sounds very tempting but I know the tax is really high there as compared to Singapore. For an project engineer in Singapore, 2 years+ experience probably gets the person a S$ 75,000 pa salary on average with lower tax. Opportunity in Australia is better as well I feel though they reserve it to PRs and people with local experience.

Anyone with experience and thoughts can please chip in a little.
Project Engineer in O&G

Project engineers or former project engineers who wants to share their thoughts about their job, career advancement, their frustrations, likes and dislikes about the job, etc etc

I have two years working as a project engineer in oil and gas industry, it was a different career path for me than I had initially planned. Nevertheless, I think I find it quite interesting and challenging when it comes to handling the suppliers and clients. Days go by very quickly when I was in projects, problems and screw ups are common, a lot of waiting to get sufficient reply from client (especially) and suppliers to move project forward, delay in procurement schedule etc etc. I have thoughts to go back to a technical field but again I don't have the courage to start all over again with a lower salary. I plan to get my professional title and MBA in the future. One thing that attracts me about project engineering work is the involvement aspect. The job touches a wide scope of work, and is basically in between technical and management role. Also, for a project, it changes from one stage to another rather quickly and I wont get bored doing the same thing over and over again - although the cycle will repeat when a new project starts.

Please share your experience and what do you think about this job!
