Beware of this taxi - HWD 9107

Good Evening,

I just want to inform everybody who's taking taxi at or around KL Sentral, beware of this taxi with plate number - HWD 9107, blue and white color scheme.

You can spot the driver pretty easily at the coupon/budget taxi waiting area since he's regular there during the evening. He don't wear the uniform, middle-aged Chinese around 175cm, dopey eyes, thin build, always wear gloves, cap and vest. Sometimes 'acting' like a taxi marshall, directing passenger to take which cab.

He doesn't put his permit inside the taxi, intentionally cover the meter with handkerchief. I don't want to say it was a totally bad experience since eventually I got home safely, but the whole experience was very unpleasant. Breaking all sort of rules, constantly honking, shaking and scratching his body whilst driving, looks like he's about to fall asleep at any time. And worse, he doesn't even know the route to my home. I feel like I was riding a rogue taxi with rogue taxi driver the whole time.

He also has the audacity to demand another RM10.00 just because he follow the wrong route, which eats up a few needless kilometres and didn't want to unlocked the door unless you pay him up (I already paid for the coupon). The meter itself actually show the rate just exceed RM2.00 - RM3.00 than the coupon fees.

Usually I have a good experience with budget and coupon taxi, but guess tonight wasn't my lucky day. Lesson learned, better take the KTMB next time (even though it was very, very packed).

Windows 10 Activation

Hello there,

My story is I used to have an activated copy of Windows 10 on my old motherboard (Mobo A), by taking advantage of the free upgrade from Windows 8 / 8.1. Early this year, my motherboard suddenly dead, sent it to vendor for RMA. In the meantime, I swapped with my backup motherboard (Mobo B) and successfully activate it using my old Windows 8 serial key. Just today Mobo A already out of RMA, and I swapped my Mobo B with it.

My problem is Windows no longer recognized this Mobo A, and I've tried reactivating it using the same Windows 8 serial key, but it just won't work. Calling Microsoft was unsuccessful since the lady over the phone told me to buy a new Windows 10 key, since Windows 8 key can only be used one time only to activate Windows 10 (which I had used on Mobo B). Is this true? Do I need to buy a new Windows 10 retail key?

I thought by buying retail key I'm entitled to upgrade my hardware whenever I want, and able to activate the Windows indefinitely by just calling the customer service.

EMET: A valuable tool for PC protection

The Enhanced Mitigation Experience Toolkit (EMET) is designed to help prevent hackers from gaining access to your system.

Software vulnerabilities and exploits have become an everyday part of life. Virtually every product has to deal with them and consequently, users are faced with a stream of security updates. For users who get attacked before the latest updates have been applied or who get attacked before an update is even available, the results can be devastating: malware, loss of PII, etc.

Security mitigation technologies are designed to make it more difficult for an attacker to exploit vulnerabilities in a given piece of software. EMET allows users to manage these technologies on their system and provides several unique benefits:
1. No source code needed: Until now, several of the available mitigations (such as Data Execution Prevention) have required for an application to be manually opted in and recompiled. EMET changes this by allowing a user to opt in applications without recompilation. This is especially handy for deploying mitigations on software that was written before the mitigations were available and when source code is not available.
2. Highly configurable: EMET provides a higher degree of granularity by allowing mitigations to be individually applied on a per process basis. There is no need to enable an entire product or suite of applications. This is helpful in situations where a process is not compatible with a particular mitigation technology. When that happens, a user can simply turn that mitigation off for that process.
3. Helps harden legacy applications: It’s not uncommon to have a hard dependency on old legacy software that cannot easily be rewritten and needs to be phased out slowly. Unfortunately, this can easily pose a security risk as legacy software is notorious for having security vulnerabilities. While the real solution to this is migrating away from the legacy software, EMET can help manage the risk while this is occurring by making it harder to hackers to exploit vulnerabilities in the legacy software.
4. Ease of use: The policy for system wide mitigations can be seen and configured with EMET's graphical user interface. There is no need to locate up and decipher registry keys or run platform dependent utilities. With EMET you can adjust setting with a single consistent interface regardless of the underlying platform.
5. Ease of deploy: EMET comes with built-in support for enterprise deployment and configuration technologies. This enables administrators to use Group Policy or System Center Configuration Manager to deploy, configure and monitor EMET installations across the enterprise environment.
6. Ongoing improvement: EMET is a living tool designed to be updated as new mitigation technologies become available. This provides a chance for users to try out and benefit from cutting edge mitigations. The release cycle for EMET is also not tied to any product. EMET updates can be made dynamically as soon as new mitigations are ready

The toolkit includes several pseudo mitigation technologies aimed at disrupting current exploit techniques. These pseudo mitigations are not robust enough to stop future exploit techniques, but can help prevent users from being compromised by many of the exploits currently in use. The mitigations are also designed so that they can be easily updated as attackers start using new exploit techniques.

EMET 4.1 release includes new functionality and updates, such as:
- Updated default protection profiles, Certificate Trust rules, and Group Policy Object configuration.
- Shared remote desktop environments are now supported on Windows servers where EMET is installed.
- Windows Event logging mechanism allows for more accurate reporting in multi-user scenarios.
- Addressed several application-compatibility enhancements and mitigation false positive reporting.

Please remember that EMET 4.1 requires .NET Framework 4, and in order to protect Internet Explorer 10 on Windows 8 you need to install KB2790907 – a mandatory AppCompat update that has been released on March 12th.

Once installed, EMET works quietly in the background without interrupting your computer use. Like any security tool, EMET doesn’t guarantee that you’ll never have any problems, but it does make it much harder for an attacker to succeed.

We are not attempting to remove pornography from the web. And we are not trying to prohibit access to those who want it. As the founder and CEO of MetaCert, I’m Irish and you are therefore right to assume I was brought up Catholic. “Paul, you’re an a la carte catholic. You like to take from the menu whatever you like”.

And he was right. I’m not religious, but I do believe in a higher being – whatever that may be. I founded MetaCert because I think everyone has the right to access information on the web without being exposed to whatever content they deem inappropriate for themselves, or the people for whom they are responsible.

I receive at least 10 emails every day from men addicted to pornography, people involved in an accountability partner program and churches looking for an overall solution for their open wifi services. So I decided today, to announce that our family safe DNS service will be completely free to all religious establishments.

Free Family Safe DNS Service for Churches and all other religious establishments
Most of the people who have been in touch over the past while, have been looking for an alternative DNS service to that of OpenDNS. They usually have two reasons. OpenDNS is now quite expensive for non-profit organizations ($800 per year) and they don’t offer the level of protection against pornography that customers exptect.

Personally, I think OpenDNS is a good all round DNS service for families and schools. For those who want it, OpenDNS provides protection across 50 categories. They have indexed 1.6 million domains across 50 categories. MetaCert on the other hand, has indexed 7.2 million domains for pornography alone. We have labeled 20 other categories but these are only available when using our Chrome extension (and soon, our iPad browser).

So, if you want to block content related to say, sport, shopping and games, I recommend OpenDNS. If you want to block pornography, MetaCert is better than having OpenDNS, Norton, McAfee and Kaspersky rolled up into one software application.

The MetaCert DNS is the world’s most sophisticated method of blocking pornography without blocking access to innocent websites. It blocks over 700 million pages of sexually explicit content – or 35+ BILLION URLs. The biggest problem that MetaCert solves is the issue with ‘over-blocking on mass scale. MetaCert’s error rate of false positives is less than 0.3% – in simple terms, we don’t block innocent websites like every other service provider.

For most of our customers who reside in the US, the MetaCert Primary DNS is 184.169.223.35 and secondary DNS is 54.247.162.216. Customers based in Europe should switch these around.

Sure Norton and OpenDNS offer similar service too, but thing is Metacert while relatively a newcomer, its DNS primary focus is on pornographic, suggestive material exclusively and with very low false detection rate. Here is their definition of pornography. It won't blindly blocked everything, for example material that fall under health, medical purpose for examples can still be viewed. Your favourite K-Pop site won't be blocked.

As a nature of DNS, obviously it is limited to just blocking domain, like many others. If you're a parent or want complete control, you can add their extension to any Chromium-based browser as well for maximum parental controls (customizable for both kids and adults). It can blocks malware, spyware, illegal activities, file-sharing, offensive sites or completely block any suggestive content (say goodbye to most entertainment site) and many more based on your preference.

Tested it for my home network since yesterday. Didn't suffer any slow-down at all. Beside the privacy policy is nothing intrusive like OpenDNS and NortonDNS. This to me is an important consideration as well. I don't need any company (after Google) to spy on my activity.

Hi, recently i have this weird problem. My PC always fail to boot, but only happen after i shut it down for hours. It took 2 or 3 reboot before my PC successfully booted to the Windows. Sometime the BIOS mentioned it is my HDD failure to boot, sometime it is the DVD-writer. I checked on the BIOS usually the system fails to detect either one of these hardware.

I'm thinking maybe it is SATA port problem or even my mainboard is dying. Or could it be another problem? I just hope it is not HDD problem since it is barely one year old.

Next PES gunning for FIFA 14 with talk of a “giant-killing” set of features. Ball-centric control & FOX Engine tech lead the way

“Our ultimate goal is to let you win with the team you love,” says PES creative producer Kei Masuda. “If we can make a giant-killing possible, it’s a huge difference to FIFA.” Konami hopes to change the way you play and think about football games, inspired by results such as Celtic’s heroic 2-1 Champions League victory over Barcelona – and, in turn, perform a giant-killing of its own.

Next PES gunning for FIFA 14

Currently, FIFA and PES prioritise power, pace and star players, forcing you to pick elite teams. Konami aims to create a more realistic experience, using untapped factors including home crowds, mental strength and advanced tactics. Make a crunching last-ditch tackle, say, and it’ll motivate your team – resulting in more aggressive off-the-ball runs or crisper passing. Effects will be regionalised: UK crowds relish up-and-at-’em physical contact, while Brazilian fans might go wild for a nutmeg.

Konami learnt from the harsh transition from PS2 to PS3. “Our biggest struggles were with online play,” says Masuda. “As we moved to PS3, EA changed its engine, but ours was based on the PS2 game. We only brushed up on animation and some of the AI features.” Konami has responded by setting up a new UK studio dedicated to areas such presentation, translation and commentary. It’s also made a key signing – the Fox Engine technology that powers Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes. PES uses a modified version, with all-new physics and visuals. Marketing producer Manorito Hosoda previously outlined how PES would use the FOX Engine tech : “We’re just sharing the fundamental part of it with Kojima Productions. We have to tailor the engine specifically for football games.”

PES’ fresh focus is ‘ball-centric’ control, using a concept called (and stay with us here) ‘barycentre’ physics. You control your player’s body and balance, even off the ball. For example, you can feint to the right before taking a pass, and sweep the ball into space with the outside of your left foot to shoot. Players’ control radius is three times wider than in PES 2013, enabling precise manual touches. Early wireframe animations show a player taking a lofted ball with the outside of his boot, and swivelling 180˚ while juggling the ball in the air – all under your direct control.

A player’s 360˚ movement extends to vertical space, enabling unique control of, say, shin high passes.

Bottom line: it looks more fluid than FIFA, and complex skills employ intuitive right-stick sweeps. “It’s more important to understand how the trick works in real life, rather than the buttons required to emulate it,” explains PES team leader Jon Murphy. Physicality is improved, so players can jostle off the ball for position for headers or tug at opponents’ shirts.

The new engine will debut in this year’s PS3 PES, and allow a seamless transition to PS4. PES has a lot to prove and many features are clearly works in progress. For example Masuda talks about editing stats on the go when you’re away from your PS3. “The concern is that [fewer] people will play games on the TV,” he admits, “so we’re trying to make it possible to edit players on your phone, or pick your formation. When you turn on the game, you can instantly start playing. One of our aims is for PES to fit our users’ lifestyles.” Konami is investigating new editing tools and “a better environment” for players to share their editing data, too. If Konami gets it right this might do for the underdog what oil did for the nouveau riche of the Champions League.

Like anything which carries the Motörhead name, the phönes went through rigorous testing and were subjected to sharp criticisms in development. Lemmy doesn't f*** around and neither he, Mikkey nor Phil would tolerate sub-standard products. The browser is built on the Mozilla browser core and combines the basic functionalities of the original code with the Comodo security features.

In this first release we have included the basic security features such as Comodo Secure DNS ( only on wide-system ) and Site Inspector. The Site inspector functionality has been extended to allow users to scan a link in Site Inspector from the context menu.

Realizing the importance of social interactions through various social networks, the social media feature has been integrated in Comod IceDragon allowing users to share links on several social networks.

IceDragon combines these features with a sleek interface, providing a seamless browsing experience.

KNOWN ISSUES

- The "Restore" button on windows XP is not also displayed when hovering the mouse cursor above it.
- Importing data from Comodo Dragon is not possible yet.
- Importing data from Mozilla Firefox is only available during the installation of Comodo IceDragon and may not work in some cases.
- Minor GUI issues.
