Belkin F5D8233-4v3

Anyone experience any problem with this wifi router? Ever since I replace my netgear with this belkin, I am facing stalling and frequent disconnection. Firmare has been update to version 3.01.29 (Aug 15 2008 18:24:38) and it is the latest so far. This modem report many udp flooding (because of bitorrent I guess).

If I reboot the router, it works well for about 2 hours and it will stalled and surfing is dead and finally disconnected. It will work ok again if the router is rebooted. So I am really tired of rebooting the belkin.

Don't think it is my Aztech DSL605E modem or streamyx because the old netgear work fine 24/7.

Anyway this router configuration is so simple that it is virtually useless to me when compares to my old Netgear.

Anyone has any suggestion to solve this?

ADSL Modem and Router

Broadband provider
ISP/package: Streamyx 512
Location: Cheras
Have you called your ISP's helpline?: Yes, but no improvement

Personal equipment
Modem: TMNET ZX821
Router: Netgear WGR614
Firewall used: Dunno

Problem details
First occurence of problem: International site Bandwidth
Problem frequency: Recently
Problem description:

It started with the slow internet speed on international site. Within Malaysia it is ok above 400kbps but international site down to about 40kbs or so.

Call Streamx and got a bunch of useless suggestion. Anyway they always suggest to take out the router and connect the modem directly to check this and that and many this and that. This I got really fed up because I have to rewire and set up everything again.

Then I got this idea where I want to access the modem directly without disconnect anything. Here is what I do.

MODEM LAN -> LAN 4 PORT
LAN 3 -> WAN PORT
LAN 2 -> Not used
LAN 1 -> Desktop PC

Assign the MODEM IP address to the same segment as the Router. This way I can anytime disconnect the router and dial up to streamyx from a PC using wifi. I can also access the modem configuration without rewiring everything.

Beside security issue, what kind of problem can I expect with such setup?

tch.
