Financing for home renovation

i want to renovate my house and am wondering the options i have for financing this.
Its an old home and is currently a single story bungalow. I plan to convert it into a double-story and the expected cost is about 600-900k.

What are the best options i have to finance this?

It said the region was experiencing a monsoon transition phase from March 14 until the middle of May.

The beginning of this phase signals the end of the north-east monsoon season which began on Nov 3.

Phone connects to all WiFi's besides home

Hi all,

need some help. My phone (a xiaomi mi5) is able to connect to ALL other wifi besides the one at home.

When i mean connect, i mean its unable to surf the internet. I can connect to the network, but after that theres no internet connection.
I can confirm that there is internet connection as all other devices on the network are working fine and able to browse with no problem.
I can see the phone connected to the router via the management interface, and an IP is assigned. Im able to ping the IP from the other devices.

I also downloaded terminal on the phone to test ping (to google and lowyat forum), its its able to ping successfully, but still cant browse..

Anyone faced this issue before?

Need some help on deciding on a tv to get. My current TV remote and physical buttons already koyak, power cable also always very loose

Was at Harvey Norman yesterday and could not decide what to get..currently in between

EPF or mutual funds

Hello guys,

This is my dilemma. Im currently working in Singapore. I am thinking of investing my money in either EPF back home or with mutual funds here in singapore. Looking to set aside about 1k sgd a month for this.

I know that im illegible to put upto MYR60k in my EPF yearly while working overseas. EPF is about 5% interest yearly, and risks are pretty low.

However, investing in mutual funds here in SG may yield higher interest, but poses a risk.

Just want to clarify which would be a better option? What would be the pros and cons of each.

Need some advice on my current situation

Hey guys,

So i just landed a really really good (pay package wise) a month plus ago. The package is definitely something i can never get back home in Malaysia, for a good 3-4 years at least. Im currently working in the Philipines.

My problem is, i feel like i am/will NOT learn much on the job here. Sometimes i sit in the office all day and surf the net cause there literally is no work. Im pretty fresh on experience (roughly 3 years only) and think experience and learning is what i need now.

Im quite tempted to quit this job and find some other job, probably in a vendor/consultant environment as i feel i will learn a whole lot more.

What are your thoughts? Quiting and getting a different job in which i can learn more and excel my self or sit here and makan gaji buta because of the economy condition in Msia for now.

Edit: Im really inclined in leaving the job, and after speaking to some close friends they are also saying if im not happy i should leave. Im just worried due to the "economic situation" everyones raving about over at kopitiam. I dont have much liabilities besides a car loan, which is not a problem.

Eating processed meats is a cancer hazard, and red meat probably is too, according to the World Health Organization.

The judgment released Monday was based on elevated risk of colorectal cancer observed in epidemiological studies. Colorectal cancer - also known as bowel cancer - the second-leading cause of cancer death in the U.S., killing more than 50,000 people in 2012, according to the Centers for Disease Control.

The scientists at the WHO's International Agency for Research on Cancer classify potential carcinogens according to the strength of the evidence, based on epidemiological observations, animal experiments, and other factors. The agency considers whether a substance or activity can cause cancer in humans under some circumstances, but it doesn't render a judgment on what level of exposure might be considered safe.

The designation puts processed meat in the same category of hazard as tobacco. That doesn't mean eating bacon and hot dogs is as dangerous as smoking, as some headlines suggest. It means that, in the judgment of the WHO's assembled experts, there's sufficient evidence to link meat to increased rates of cancer.

just wanted to inquire if anyone knows the correct process of a visa application. I found a job overseas and the recruiter was telling me to just go over first and they will process the visa once im there, as they want me to start next week already.

is this a legal/normal process? abit dubious of this.

I uses to use these a lot in UK but can't find it over here. I'm a vegetarian so these products help out a lot as compared to the local soy based veg products which has far less protein content in it.

How to calculate calories

Hey guys,

just wondering how do i calculate calories for home made recipes? Something adapted from the net (most recipes already do not have their nutritional information on it) and modified to my liking.

For example, i wanna make a stir fry, tossing in some of my favorite vegetables and some chicken or meat pieces in it with soy sauce and broth, what not. How exactly am i to calculate the caloric/nutritional intake for it?

I know there are apps like fitnesspal and calories counter and what not, but it does not really cater to home made food info..

Radio button selection

Hi guys,

I dont know if this is the correct place for excel, vba programming questions, but if its not ill move it else where.

My question is, i need to create a checklist of some sort to create an assessment framework. And thus im using radio buttons to make the spreadsheet more interactive. However, im facing problems in selection of the radio buttons

I have created a dummy sheet to test it out and the layout will be like this:

What im trying to do is to get the value of the selected radio buttons from columns B-F in column H.
Basically radio button in B has a value of test 1, radio button in C has a value of test 2 and so on.
I have tried If statements which have gone terribly wrong (im a complete tool when it comes to programming) and have come across some countif, counta statements from looking online.

Any methods u guys recommend to do this process? Theres gonna be a lot of rows with radio buttons, so im trying to keep it as efficient as possible.

Any recommendations and advice would be much appreciated!

Net neutrality rules passed by US regulator

New rules on how the internet should be governed have been approved by the Federal Communications Commission.

In what is seen as a victory for advocates of net neutrality, the commission voted in favour of changes proposed by chairman Tom Wheeler.

i just lost my hotlink sim card, and im currently overseas studying. No way i can go back in person to retrieve it.

Is it possible i write a letter authorizing my brother or mother to collect on behalf of me as its physically impossible for me to be present to collect it?

One of my friends working at maxis says its possible, but i read at maxis forum that they do not allow this..

Hey guys, was just wondering if its possible to get a duplicate copy of the receipt pantai provides? I want to claim some money from my company and have handed a photocopy to them, but they want the original one. Problem now is, i cant seem to locate the original receipt..so was just wondering if i can ask pantai for another receipt? Obviously there would be a price, but i dont mind that.

If so, what details do i need?

A map originally published by Germany magazine Der Spiegel today, and sighted by Australian dailies Sydney Morning Herald (SMH) and its Fairfax Media sister publication The Age, showed 90 electronic surveillance facilities worldwide, including in US embassies in Jakarta, Bangkok, Phnom Penh, and Yangon. Dated August 13, 2010, the map however did not show any such facilities in Singapore, Australia, New Zealand, Britain, and Japan, which are the US’ closest allies.

The top secret slideshow made in 2008 revealed that the Xkeyscore program allows analysts to search through extensive database of emails, search queries, social media, online chats, and browsing histories of millions of people with no need for prior authorisation. According to SMH today, the map revealed today showed a joint group between Central Intelligence Agency and National Security Agency called “Special Collection Service” conducting sweeping surveillance operation and clandestine operations against specific intelligence targets.
