Unifi down in bandar puteri puchong?

My unfi was working fine 1 hour ago and all morning OK suddenly down. Restarted router 3-5 times till like that. I'm on Nokia fiber modem which shows only power and Lan 1 lights ON. The rest not on. As I recall normally the "PON" and "AUTH" should be turned on too but they're not lighted up...sounds like got issue with Unifi side? Anyone face same issue?

i'm staying in condo btw

EDIT: It's working now - i didnt do anything...definitely UNIFI side...sigh

Anyone bought phone frm Lazada Samsung brand store

Hi, as per subject, has anyone bought phone from Lazada "Samsung brand store" which is an authorized store on lazada for samsung devices. I bought a phone there during 11.11 sales and initially it showed:

Packed - ordered packed 11 nov around 2pm
Ready to ship - order will be handed over to seller own fleet soon - around 2 pm same day (nov 11)

Then suddenly today it showed Delivered - package delivered 14 Nov 9AM.

I am staying at condo and went to the guardhouse immediately to check if there was any parcel that was delivered past 10 minutes, they said no. Check with management office also dont have anything there, I got no calls etc.

As i understand "Samsung brand store" uses DHL or SkyNet but I didnt even get a tracking number and they said they're only pre-sales team in the lazada chat and will escalate to the back end team.

Anyone bought stuff from them before know is this normal that it will show delivered (maybe it means pass to courier)? I'm confused and hope I didnt get cheated

Upgraded to CIMB Preferred without being asked

Hi,

I just got an SMS stating I have been upgraded to CIMB preferred - doesnt look scammy and looks legit, no URLs or anything asking me to pay anything whatnot.

I dont mind staying on CIMB preferred but did anyone else receive this before and also anything I should know about it? I checked the CIMB preferred site (but not thoroughly) - not much info on it whether I need to pay something or whatnot. Sorry if i'm asking a duplicate question (please point me to the thread if it is a duplicate). Thanks!

hotlink device plan - is this how it works?

I tried to contact hotlink through twitter but they didnt gave me a straight answer, so i'm trying here - my question is simple: I am currently on an RM 60 hotlink plan.

I'm interested in the Galaxy Tab A9 LTE and put it on 24 month contract, with the same RM 60 plan that I currently have to just pay RM 100 for the device and whatever advance costs it requires (which will be rebated in the current months to offset my monthly RM 60 bill) - that's all fine.

My question - does that mean my monthly plan is STILL RM 60 or is it something silly like RM 60 + RM 60 (selected plan)? My understanding it should be RM 60, but who knows these telcos and their logic (which sometimes no logic) so i wanted to be sure before I make the plunge.

Thanks in advance.

As per subject - my mom's double story house has what it seems as bad water leaks at the ceiling (ground floor) and master bed room.

I tried to reach out to "Roof Repair Malaysia" but no response. Does anyone have any good contacts of Roof / Ceiling Repair (preferably able to converse in English) around Subang/Puchong area?

Pictures of the ceiling for reference - in case anyone done such fixing before and able to provide some rough quotation/estimates:

Thanks!

Will payment - receipt issuance, is this normal?

This is a sort of continuation of this thread and not sure if this is the right forum:

https://www.reddit.com/r/malaysia/comments/...charges_from_a/

The recent update is that I will be making the initial deposit of RM10K to the will company. I had asked if they could provide a receipt once I made the payment and they said once I have injected the initial deposit, to forward them the payment slip for their further action and they will provide the statement of account showing the injection of initial deposit (that's their version of receipt). They also gave me the account name which is <WILL COMPANY HERE NAME> - Estate of <my late dad's name>, account number, bank.

For those who have gone through this process before, is this normal that receipts are not given other than just evidence through statement of account for such deposits? Or are there other alternative ways I could request for an official receipt? 10K is a lot, not RM 100 or 1000 so I'm playing a bit cautious here but wanted to know is this typical of most will/estate companies to only give "receipts" in the way of statement of account rather than any kind of official receipt?

Appreciate your thoughts/advice. Thanks!

P/S: If this is not the right sub-forum do let me know which is a suitable one - as i couldnt locate one so I choose this one instead. thanks!

Grace period for house transfer of ownership?

Hi,

Recently my dad had passed and written a will. In his will, it was mentioned that the house will be transferred to my mum (loan fully paid up).

So we need to go through the transfer of ownership in accordance to he will. Then my mum may plan to transfer the house to either myself or my sibling. The question that I have is this: is there some kind of grace period that needs to be fulfilled before the house can be transferred from my mum to either myself or sibling (or anyone that she pleases to)? (ex: need to wait 1 year or more before can initiate another transfer of ownership so soon)?

My understanding is that since the will states that the house will be transferred to my mum - that cannot be "changed" before the actual transfer to then transfer to anyone that she likes (as long as she is willing to sign etc) - is that something even possible?

Wonder if anyone had any experience or thoughts on this? Thanks

Property inheritance cost?

Hi,

Does anyone know what is the cost of inheriting a property? I see a lot of articles on the internet but its very confusing in terms of the process. My understanding is as follows:
- In my case there is a will
- estate admin fees stated clearly, deposit ~5K
- grant of probate - ~5K
- the rest not mentioned, understand need to get solicitor to evaluate the property price but no costs mention, i suppose depend on solicitor - but does anyone have any general cost price range of the property?
- think this can get expensive just to inherit a property - feel like 3-4% of the value of the property i read somewhere, but only in 1 place - no idea how true is this?

Has anyone had prior experience in this and I wonder what other fees to take into account - like stamp duty - what is the cost? Most sites mention RM 10 only but I wonder is that so cheap? Headache so many fees just to inherit property

Any thoughts / comments are greatly appreciated.
Maybank secure2u not secure?

Someone I know had kena scammed where this person installed a 3rd party apk on their phone after being instructed on the phone thru social engineering and within seconds where this person login using their maybank account, a lot of this person's money gone and jts from maybank. What I don't get it is this person has secure2u enabled and yet still kena. Yes the 3rd party apk will be able to read and capture sms due to the permissions requested but I wonder how they bypass secure2u.

So I tried to understand how it works. When u change limits it uses sms instead of secure2u..ok thats really bad. Fine. When u transfer using any method duitnow, interbank or 3rd party bank etc it uses secure2u..ook seem secure..

But...

Try force close or just close your maybank mae app. Then launch it without authenticating. Then click secure2u. U will see no password or authentication is requested unlike if u click on the maybank2u button in the toolbar at the bottom of the mae app.

I even tested by doing a transfer to a duitnow account when I tap secure2u on my mae app it doesn't even ask for biometrics or password or pin!!!

This is so risky because what if an android app can launch mae and tap on secure2u and click approve in a blink of an eye and close the app and keep doing this?

I looked at how other banks like hsbc secure their app. In the main hsbc app to get their security code or soft token, it asks for biometrics which is the correct and safe way to do. I wonder am I missing any specific reason mae doesn't ask for biometrics when I open secure2u section in mae app which is soon insecure? I plan to bring it up to maybank but before I do want to get your thoughts and opinions and also who should I contact within maybank (which channel) is best for these sort of things to alert them?

TLDR version:
MAE maybank app not secure because when clicking on "secure2u" doesnt prompt for password or biometics. ANY android APP (3rd party or even official) when installed could launch it, tap on secure2u, authorize your transactions (ex: transfer money out to another bank) if they can access your maybank user & password by any means.

Update: title changed - teasing the app wont do anything LOL
Update #2: CIMB also seem to be the same - no authentication required on their SecureTAC feature...but i didnt try transfer yet. Likely same...why 2 big banks do this - there must be a reason or they're just really bad at security??

EPF Nomination - ARB question

I had done my nomination for EPF > 10 years ago and recently wanted to update my nomination but now came across ARB. Have a few questions - wondering if anyone know:

1) If I nominate ARB i'm aware there are fees, but do I need to be a member of ARB (i.e: register with them at their site/branch) before I can choose to nominate ARB to manage my account ?
2) In the nomination form (https://www.kwsp.gov.my/member/nomination) - it seems like I dont even need to fill up the nominees IC (but seems like name is needed) but if that's the case, how would ARB know the that the nominee is the right person (but could be sharing same name just different IC)? that part i'm confused

Last question:
3) Does EPF branches typically have photocopy machine to make a copy of our IC and beneficiary IC?

Copper to Fiber - MUST change?

I just got a call from a TM Rep from the number earlier today - 0379647000 (legit number BTW, i confirmed it with TM thru their 100 line), the guy said my condo recently got fibre - and want to arrange to convert from copper to fibre and want to send my details to the scheduling team to manage. I told him i dont want cos need to drill hole, and drag wire across my house to where my router need to be - eyesore etc.

He said if i dont change, TM plan to move in stages and my internet may go down one day and cannot blame TM because already calling to change from copper to fiber, and my internet copper line also degrade, so internet performance will be poor bla bla bla...

Question: Is what he say is true where we are *FORCED* to change from copper to fiber? I only wonder if say the crazy thing happen - everyone in my building change to fiber and i'm the only guy with copper - will they just so crazy and put down my internet ? I'm a bit skeptical but wanted to get your thoughts on that.

Obviously he as a rep he is doing his job to educate us that there's a need to change from copper to fibre, but i should be able to say No also, otherwise why bother calling and when i ask for deadline he said he dont have that info, TM will do it in stages....

BTW I'm staying in condo and my condo is > 15 years old.

Lockdown queues - why buy from Tesco/Grocer/Aeon?

Apart from specific brand items & fresh food, why bother going there? Went to 99 Speedmart 2 days in a roy past 2 days in morning, no queue?

Essentials can be bought at places like 99 Speedmart, KK, etc..so what I dont get it why risk yourselves by shopping in large crowds? Any thoughts? Genuinely curious.

I got pretty much what I need from 99 Speedmart unless one is looking for very specific brand items or fresh food..

Why risk from possible exposure of Covid in those large crowds?
